Hi there Tallulah Graves, and welcome to Broken Forums! I just wanted to chime in with my humble opinion here. Take it as you will.

It was a while ago that I played, but I actually quite enjoyed this game. It made me laugh out loud at certain moments and feel... feelings at other moments. I think it's pretty darn amazing that it was done in just one month (hell, I couldn't do something like that).

Anyhoo, I'm definitely not saying your opinion isn't valid or worthwhile, I just think some of the stuff you've said is a wee bit harsh. I don't want to start an argument or anything, just wanted to put some of my thoughts out there.

  2. If you really enjoy it, then really enjoy it! That is perfectly fine and wonderful, and I'm glad it did something for you.

I know I can be a harsh critic and that it's entirely possible that I'm being overly mean. I do try to outline the reasoning behind my opinion, though, in hopes that I don't seem unfair. I admit to partially exaggerating my irritation for the sake of comedy, which I perhaps shouldn't do.

I promise I'm not trying to tear the game to shreds, though. I'm critical because I care. This game clearly has a lot of work and a lot of love in it and I think the team has a lot of potential. In fact, I'm interested in seeing what they put out in 2013. I offer up critique so that, if I perhaps hit upon a good point somewhere, that point can be taken and used as a place to improve.

...Wait, does that mean I'm the Spectacles of this forum? Dammit.

I suggest playing Elevator by the same creators (also LPed here, don't read it just yet if you plan on playing). It improves on several aspects but, if I remember correctly, the ending is rather abrupt at the moment and the creators are going to add some more content.
  4. Also, if it makes you feel any better, I'd be doing the same thing to any other VN I played. I really like Don't Take It Personally, Babe... (as an example), but I'd still take it apart and point out what I feel to be serious flaws in the writing and game design.

    I'll look into it, thanks!

As long as it isn't this kind of Spectacles

  8. I was actually lying, I do wear glasses since I'm told it gives me a sexy librarian appeal... wait, that just makes it worse, doesn't it? D: I do don't want to be in a harem!

Nooo I used to have glasses but I did the laser surgery thingy because they kept falling of my nose (I was told it's my fault because my nose is too small). Is too late for me to be an harem spy??

I am quite excited over the fact you are doing this LP. I remember the last LP of it~ You're comments are so amusing XD Also, I find it incredibly amusing that you are doing this blind. That makes it 10 times funnier. :3
  14. With all the people saying that, I am going to be extremely disappointed if the game doesn't M. Night Shymalan me.

    M. Night Shyamalan: film director known for pulling a SHOCKING TWEEST in the ending of every film.

In The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable, very effective. In subsequent films, increasingly less so.
  17. Antiqua Magister Mundi Elyscape

I'm sorry for the OT, but is this laser thing good, then? Because my father wanted me to do it but I'm not that sure. Movies thought me that laser is used for killing people!

...Is it bad I was actually surprised by the ending in The Sixth Sense? A lot of people seem to have gotten it the first time through.

Are any of his other movies good? I loved The Sixth Sense.

I got the ending of The Sixth Sense spoiled for me, which was a bummer, because the story makes less sense when you know the twist.

I remember liking The Village despite also being spoiled, which seems to be an unpopular opinion. But it's been a good while since I saw it, so I couldn't detail exactly why offhand.
  20. Jackrabbit Magister Mundi Elyscape

It's amazing. It takes about a month for the vision to sharpen completely, and the first week after the surgery is rough, but it's so worth it. Never again will I need to clean my glasses, never again put them away when it's raining, never fucking again needing to push them up my nose 4 times a minute. It's been more then a year, and I'm still feeling pure bliss when I go out in a dusty day and know I don't need to carry a special wipe for my effing glasses. My number was quite high too, so I was completely dependent on them. Sweet release!

I can't recommend it enough. Not everyone can do it tho, you gotta have your eyes examined.
PM me if you'd like, I'll happily share my experience.

Unbreakable is good, especially if you like superheroes.

I can't speak for any of the others.
  22. Jackrabbit Magister Mundi Elyscape

It caught me totally off guard as well. In fact I didn't get it even after The Reveal, and had to be slowly explained the point. I never catch on to these things - I'm only savvy in comedy-plot-speak.

Oh dear, I'm really looking forward to this. I only fear that we might be overhyping this even if it will be amusing when the time comes hee hee hee.
Your commentary is pretty good, Tallulah. I might not be really good at writing in english (since it isn't my mother language), but I can tell you do, and that makes the quips even funnier. I hope that made sense.

I've laughed at your theories, and now I'm calmly expectant of what is to come.

    Also...

    I love you.

The only other VN that I've found comparable in quality is Little Busters, but it is kind of a long way until you get to the juicy bits on that one... while Ever17 is made entirely of juicy bits.

That said, I do enjoy some old classics and popular franchises once in a while, but I always come back to my favourites.
  24. Aw, thanks! I often worry that I am tragically unfunny, so I'm glad to hear it. :)
  25. Well, I just spent the last few day playing a truly terrible game, and now I'm willing to cut this one some slack. It might not have the strongest writing, but at least it makes sense.

Alright, let's do this. /cracks knuckles

Laura and Spectacles look like they always do, but Liam looks like a small child begging for ice cream. Truly this means that the most tragic of occurrences is upcoming.

Lily asks what's going on, and Liam assures her that it's just a bit of trouble. Laura asks if she's here again, and for a moment I wonder if this is about to turn into a ghost story. Ringu Amore has a nice ring to it.

How does Laura notice anything with those bangs? I have a swoop bang that covers half my face that makes it hard to see sometimes, but at least I have visible eyes underneath. New theory: Laura is a Miraluka.

Laura runs off to go get Pierre instead of summoning him with her Force powers, once again destroying my attempts to connect this game to Star Wars. I am disappoint.

In classic Ethan style, he doesn't bother to explain who or what Mrs. Adams is before running off. Ten bucks says he's going out back to have a smoke and laughing at the looks on their faces.

Huh. Sounds like me and this game.

After all this buildup, she had better be a rampaging T-rex, a werewolf or both.

    ...

...Well, hello there. You are looking exceptionally attractive and well-drawn. Do you have a route?

    No?

    Figures.
  26. [IMG]

I like her already! Ginger McHotness don't want none of your otome shit, Lily.

What didn't work? Were you trying to use a Jedi mind trick? Hack her brain with your android powers? Make her head explode a la Scanners? You can't be surprised that smiling at an angry customer didn't soothe all her troubles, so I have to assume it was something else.

    LIAM used SUCK UP!

    It wasn't very effective...

Lily, why are you getting involved? Everyone else is clearly experienced in dealing with this woman. Laura's already gone to get Pierre, so I think it's safe to assume that this is a.) not unusual and b.) an acceptable outcome, if not a desired one. At this point you can only make it worse.

    Pictured: things being worse.

Luckily, Pierre shows up and saves everyone from having to suffer a terrible ginger wrath.

"We are kindred spirits, after all. Have you seen our fabulous hair?"

Liam suggests leaving the two alone so that they can have girl talk. They do this every month or so, get together and have a sleepover. Pierre's cookies are divine and he's always up for trading hair care tips. Sometimes they paint each others' fingernails and talk about boys!

As someone who has LPed a game against their will (I'm looking at you, The Last Express), I would recommend you take a hiatus if you're slogging through the game. It's agonizing for you, the readers can tell you're suffering, and your quality goes down.

There are too many games and too few hours to spend playing a game you hate. Besides, if you ever do feel the need to play the game again, you can always return.
