If you're gonna be offensive, why not just go all-out about it? That's Square Enix's stance. *And elves, who are largely viewed as effeminate or "wussy men" or "not as manly" or however you want to word it.
Yep, there is no harm in the discussion, and I feel that the OP had the best intentions in mind when creating the thread. And certainly some of the responses are valid, talking about the Amazon myths etc. But knowing what a wasteland TMP is, I figured I wouldn't have to read long before some troglodyte posted something wildly offensive. And sure enough, the second post talks about pansy elves! So to summarize the point of my post: terrible forums are terrible.
No poofters. Overall, though, I think "light in the loafers" is probably my favorite old-timey euphemism for that sort of thing.
I invite you to drink the tears of people that are still mad at Anita Sarkeesian. It's got some vintage gender neutrality with the strong, bullshitty flavor of "I'm a woman but [MRA]" and a lightening current of concern trolling. See how quickly you can win (source)! Or you can just take my word for it.
"Pansy" and "sissy" both. And of course "pussy" is in the same thesaurus entry for "ways to say wuss that rely on questioned masculinity for their kick." The language of impugning masculinity is still pretty mainstream in popular culture, even if the above usages are increasingly recognized as inappropriate. Actually, checking just now, wiktionary's etymology speculates that wuss, from the earlier wussy, may come from a merger of "wimp" and "pussy."
I just can't get enough of the "women can hit men but not the other way around." I could listen to that all day.
I kept staring at her breasts, thinking "What? Sure, it's skintight, but you can't see the nipples. It's not that bad." And then my eyes happened to stray down a bit.
IIRC, that was pretty much all over ME2 as well. EDI getting a body that is overly anatomically correct for being an infiltration/combat unit was just a bit sillier. ME2 started the whole leercam thing that was just really strange. While the models were just as bad in 3, I don't think I had nearly as many cutscenes or conversations where a third of the screen was a closeup of Miranda's ass.
I'm pretty sure she doesn't have the cameltoe when she's not wearing clothes, y'know, being a metal robot (presumably without genitals) and whatnot. I put her in that outfit so she didn't have the ridiculous boob paint and that's what I'm rewarded with? Ugh.
Yeah, I actually ended up keeping EDI in her "naked" outfit because it was less awkward than having her, uh, steel magnolia constantly wandering past the camera. I could never decide if it was just a texture issue, the designers being skeezy, or EDI trolling me in-character. "EDI, is that..." "Yes. Do female primary sexual characteristics make you uncomfortable, Shepard?"
What makes me uncomfortable is realizing that Joker became a Real Doll enthusiast as a result of post-traumatic stress disorder. The outfit is just the icing on the cake.
It's probably a combination of skeezy designers and lazy retexturing. That outfit is a recolor of Dr. Eva's, and I guess to be convincingly human Cerberus gave Eva the proper "accessories." Still not sure why so much detail was put into a character that you see for all of ten minutes and never get very close to until most of her shit is burned off.
I'd probably say it's more skeezy artists. =) I remember a co-worker who had the mousepad with breasts for his office mousepad.
I think her outfit is just a reuse. But the whole outfit in general is skeezy artists when it's used on anyone. It's just a bit hilarious/sad when used on EDI. IIRC Miranda's alternate outfit in ME2 had the same .. uncomfortable looking issue. I can't find a good reference image however because every picture of her outfits is from the back.
For the record, there is apparently porn in every single cloak image in Baldur's Gate 2. The artist who made them claims it is the case. I could never see it though. But he told me once that he started every texture with a porn image and painted over it creatively.
Hm, I usually had her in the black catsuit and I remember thinking it looked less D: than the white one. But then they came out with some outfit pack that put Miranda in something that was actually sort of normal and I bought it as hard as I could. Which had the amusing side effect of the ass-cam being EVEN WEIRDER.
Yeah, that one black Cerberus armor suit that had the yellow visor was cool. I had Miranda with me almost all the time in ME2 and got a lot of mileage out of that outfit. In retrospect though, I think Samara's default outfit was almost worse than Miranda's because of dat cleavage. It just seemed completely out of character for a Justicar, but I guess there's no reason justice can't be boob-tastic.
Yeah. Samara's outfit was particularly distracting, because it seemed to clash so much with her personality. It did not look like something she would choose to wear.
What a weird thing to proudly assert. "Yup! I totally put porn all over the place in that popular RPG! That was totally me!"
