The J makes a Y sound, if that helps. And don't be too hard on people, Alligator! Sjofn is like. Super minor!
Syoh-fin is how I say it, you goofs. :P The proper way is not a natural sound for me, as an American. <3
But we've naturalized fjord, and I think people are reasonably familiar with the name Bjorn (I think it's Bjorn? Like in Peggle), and there's Bjork, and I thought it was generally known knowledge that that was a spelling convention in another language? Maybe I'm just smarter than everyone else. :P
In Peggle it was indeed Bjorn, elsewhere it's usually Björn, as in Björn Borg or Björn Ulvaeus. Presuming you mean the Icelandic singer she also writes here name with a ¨, so that's Björk
*blinks* Oh, wow. I've been reading that wrong this whole time. I always parsed it as S. Jon F., and since I used to know someone who went by S. John... Yeah, I read it as male. Goes to show what careless reading will do to a person!

On topic: It's funny, the Star Trek ad didn't bother me at first glance because I didn't realize a) it was for Star Trek, one of the least sexy things in the universe and b) it's a Vulcan lady, one of the least sexy things in one of the least sexy things in the universe (despite Enterprise demanding I think otherwise).
Only because your name doesn't rhyme with 'Can be relied on to crush my dreams of playoff glory'. Otherwise I'd have totally gone with that.
Hahah, do you not remember the olden days? When there was like this huge phenom over how sexy Leonard Nimoy was with his eyebrow raise?
I have heard, and yet ... no. No, sorry, Mr. Spock has never, in the history of ever, been sexy. Nor is New Spock. It's the haircuts. The haircuts are universally terrible.
And don't forget Kirk, there is a woman at my office who still has an autographed photo of William Shatner in his heyday. (And if we want to go the other gender, there was always some random woman for Kirk to woo, the early Treks had quite a bit of that kind of pulpy stuff(
Kirk is an asshole, he's not sexy either. And the old uniforms did nearly no one any favors (except the little minidress uniform, I guess!). In fact, none of the uniforms in the history of ever have looked good, contributing to my "Star Trek has never been sexy, EVER."
Yeah no, sorry. Sorry! When I think "sexy," Star Trek is like the furthest thing from my mind. Sorry! You can spam the thread with pictures all you want, but it is not changing my mind. Like seriously, that last picture of Spock and Kirk? Not sexy. Just sort of goofy. Also Uhura needs a longer hem there. :(
1960s Diana Muldaur not hot? Granted that's not really down to the velour minidress but still. EDIT: Oh god this is the #1reasonwhy thread. ALSO I LIKE HER ACTING.
One hot person (I am taking your word for it, as she does not do anything for me! It's like I'm a straight woman or something!) does not a reputation for sexy make. EDIT: Basically, the entire history of the show could be littered with hot, foxy people (and I am sure there have been many of them!), but the Star Trek-ness sucks all the sexy out. Because it's fucking Star Trek!
Well, at least I learned something from your post, I had no idea that she was in both the original and in Next Gen.
