It was suggested that I start a thread for a comic that I started in Okay, partner. Draw!. I was lurking on QT3 a little before the implosion, came over here after that, and started lurking again. I love avatars here, because while reading threads I start making dinosaur and airplane noises while imagining different posters' avatars going on surreal adventures. Never had a chance to really tie anything together into a more cohesive plot until I saw Dan's post here. The evolving mess you see below is the result of that.
*giddily pops up from the gloaming to love thread to pieces oh yes* EDIT: Oh uh, should I wait til you're done securing placeholding posts? ^^;;
I've probably stepped in it enough, but to be clear if you never update it again it will still have been awesome, and if you only update it whenever you feel like doing so across the next few decades it will still be more than enough. There are some forms of forum metacommentary, along the lines of Klamiti 's famous charts, that get to dictate their own terms. This is all of them.
This is now my favourite thread on the site. Even if nearly all threads I've read are my favourite thread on the site. But this one gets a special place in my heart.
DON'T TRY TO DEFEAT A PROFESSIONAL FROM THE LP THREAD. And by professional, I mean completely insane and possibly addicted to liking posts. Possibly.
Yeah, this is already amazing. As much as I want to read more, don't feel pressured to post. Do it when your're inspired and when you're ready.
I have a few ideas queued up. Making people happy makes me happy, and I haven't been this excited about going home from work in a long time. I find that I can sometimes just flop over into bed after a full day of software engineering since I'm too mentally exhausted to do anything else. I've been apprehensive since humor is a dicey subject for me to handle, and can fall flat easily even if I think I know my audience. Best case scenario, no one cares. This buys time to make a quick getaway before anyone notices how bad the joke actually was. Worst case scenario, instant excommunication. Except for BF, that is. You get likes instead.
Meserach, when did you become an LPer? Also, Urk, glad to hear you're excited about posting your awesome comics here. It's good to be proud of something you created, especially something as beautiful as your comics.
A beginning is a very delicate time. Know then that it is the year 2013. The known forum-verse is ruled by the Fatbird Emperor Lum IV, my father. In this time, the most precious substance in the universe is the like. The like extends life. The like expands consciousness. The like is vital to space travel. The LP Forum and its participants, who the like has mutated over 4,000 years, use a hyper-active form of liking, which gives them the ability to fold space. That is, travel to any part of the forum-verse without moving. Oh, yes. I forgot to tell you — the like exists on only one forum in the entire universe. A desolate, dry forum with vast deserts. Hidden away within the rocks of these deserts are a people known as the Gorgnards, who have long held a prophecy that a man would come, a messiah who would lead them to true freedom. The forum is called Broken (also known as BF). Also, this thread reminded me of this recent page of MSPA. I hope we don't destroy you with effusive praise Urk!
Urk, these comics are truly great. I really cannot overemphasize how much I enjoy and appreciate them.
*Spazzes likes in every direction* And just to clarify, the fact Javert actually is an LP hallmark now makes me marvelously happy. I think if I can make Victor Hugo spin in his grave just one more revolution a minute I can get France to light into one, glorious tangent about Argot.
Great that you made this thread as I was now able to like the post(s) containing your comics once more.
Of course Javert is there, his sideburns are rad, bro. My favorite thing so far is the Elyscape finch, sandwich, eye tower of lasers. Urk, your art is truley gorgeous. If you don't do something in art already, you should consider it.
Thank for the answer! I don't think I'd ever be grognard-y enough to pick that up on my own. I know all of... one person IRL who does Warhammer things.
Oh man, thank you for tagging me, the giant viking lop fucking made my day. Urk, you are totally rad, the bunny is adorable and threatening at the same time. <3 And the first comic! It made me laugh out loud. <3 <3 EDIT: basically, ALL THE FEELS
These comics are awesome, Urk! Although personally, I think it's totally possible to split ones time between the LP forum and Grognard central, but I guess I'm some kind of crazy ninja. Well, crazy, at least. (I will admit, it was spotting the Servo Skull that pushed me over from like to love. Well, that, and the depiction of @Thoro's beardcats. So good!)
I think it might be a reference to XCOM. When it's the enemy's turn and you have no LoS on the baddies, it shows blankness or fog or something and reads [ALIEN ACTIVITY]. Could be wrong but I hope I'm right.
