So what are the gif rules here are gifs of people getting hurt acceptable? I'm guessing mr expoldy bus means yes?
I'd suggest reporting the post or sending a note to Lum to find out. For myself, I'd prefer to not see more of the people/animals getting hurt thing. Lum has already made it clear NSFW stuff is verboten. EDIT: To add animated gif!
I hope we don't get too worked up over grey areas though - like the guy with the bus, an idle search bring up the video and it doesn't look like he was hurt. It's not obvious from the gif of course, but I think it's gifs where someone is clearly getting hurt (badly that is) which mainly should be avoided. But, you know, I'm cool with whatever.
The bus video I think I've seen before somewhere else. It wouldn't hurt (ho ho) for people to add when posting an image to say something like "Despite what you see, this guy didn't actually get hurt" if that's the case. And I acknowledge that there are people like BobJustBob who like the gifs for the 'just rewards' aspect. Either way, I'm not really expecting a problem here.
I would not like to see people or animals get hurt badly. I'm fine with nutshots, or stupidity, but obvious broken limbs or unconsciousness just bums me out and mostly I like coming in here to see funny things. So for instance this: may have resulted in the nasty man hitting his head on a boulder and drowning, but I'm pretty much hoping the guy with the camera would go over and fish him out. Anyway, he was being mean to a dog, so he deserves it. This, on the other hand: is perfectly fine because she gets up and everything is okay, she just looks a little dumb. Stop that same gif with her crumpled on the ground and I'm sad.
Just had a Wizard of Oz/Dark Side of the Moon moment with this GIF and the Sword song I'm listening to right now--perfect sync between the dog's tail hitting the cat's head and the snare drum.
