Listen, I'm not talking about childhood victims of sexual assault. I'm talking about grown men. Call me old fashioned, but I don't think it really happens. I think it's like Satanic Ritual Abuse. There's about ten thousand arrests a year in my city, none of them have been for that. I read the paper every day, I have never seen one.
That's good, get technical and specific. There's no way that it's your underlying premise that could be the problem.
Just link me some police reports to show me that this stuff actually happens. I just think that outside the context of child molestation, women do not engage in that behavior. All I said was, "this meal was fit for Jehovah."
I'll have this ex-Marine drop by the bar that you habituate and explain it to you face-to-face. http://jameslandrith.com/
Why the hell are you doing this? Multiple people in this thread opened up and relayed their stories of rape and sexual abuse. Several of them talked about how much shame they felt, pernicious, continuing shame despite having done nothing wrong and being in no way at fault for their victimization. They made themselves vulnerable here because they trusted this community, and felt it was worth the risk - and now you swan in to put your finger on the scale and fucking open up with a comedy routine tailor made to shame male rape victims into silence? Why are you doing this? Is your amusement more important to you than what they went through? Are you trying to establish how 'edgy' you are, now, through hostility and ignorance? Or is it just that you have the luxury of not having to give a shit, so you've decided to press ahead regardless of the harm it's done and may do to people who have already had far more than their share of trauma for one lifetime? Why the hell are you doing this, and what is it going to take to get you to stop and fucking go away already?
There isn't a police report of the time I was raped because the police refused to take me seriously enough to actually file one Also, fuck off and die.
I don't have a police report, but Henry Rollins describes an incident in his life that is at the very least female-on-male sexual assault in his album The Boxed Life.
That was not what you said. You said it was not possible for a man to be raped because they all want and enjoy all sexual activity with any woman at any time. Otter of Judgement is the only thing brightening up this thread any more.
This is actually one of the most popular jokes ever made on Futurama ("death by snoo-snoo"). The lesson here is that there is a time and a place, and this thread is neither.
Why? I fail to see how this is any different than someone going into the Weight Loss thread and calling someone fat. This is a terribly sensitive topic that people have been very open about-- quatoria really said it way better than I could and I think that Flowers is trolling for no fucking reason other than he thinks he's funny. And now that people are telling him he's not, he conveniently didn't bother reading the thread. Or apparently the first responses telling him to shut the fuck up about it. I don't buy for a fucking second he "missed something." He really needed someone here to tell him that it's possible for a man to be raped by a woman? Did he conveniently also forget how google works?
Actually, I said that all men want and enjoy all sexual activity with any woman at any time because, on one level, I kinda think they do. On another level, I was pretty skeptical of the entire concept of women raping men, and I assigned it the level of seriousness equal to haunted amusement parks and the win loss record of the Harlem Globetrotters. When you guys talk about how it is bad that most people in society just dismiss the idea of a woman raping a man out of hand? I will admit that, right or wrong, I am in the unwashed masses for the most part on this one.
I'm sorry. That whizzed overhead at extreme altitude. Unless you failed a sarcasm roll, I don't get yer point.
What makes it okay is that nothing is off-limits for humor, but delivery, context, and timing are key. Flowers failed spectacularly on all three counts, Futurama did not.
It's going to have to be, because you're apparently either pro-censorship or anti-Futurama, neither of which are positive traits in a person.
My daughter's boyfriend is a mega-fan of Futurama. It's one of the things I don't like about him. Seriously, I am not pro-censorship, but I reserve the right to think that jokes about certain subjects just aren't funny. In any context.
What makes you think that a woman raping a man would involve conventional sexual acts? See, you've got a fantasized version of events in your mind about what happens when anyone of any gender commits an act of violence on a person of any other gender. Next thing you'll say is that one woman raping another is mechanically impossible. The problem here is that you're focusing on the act and not the context. Rape is about violence and power first, and lust second. It's something that happens because one person perceives that they have power over another, and they decide to act upon that. Rape isn't a sexual act or a beating, it's something entirely different. The violence or the power doesn't have to be physical either. Do you understand that much? Well, clearly you don't, which leads me to think that you've got some pretty naive ideas about violence and sex in general. That, knowing your profession, is deeply troubling.
Say what you will about brett, but I don't recall a time he made a thread all about him in quite so loathsome a way.
Actually yeah, an acquaintance in high school admitted to me that he lost his virginity to a bigger college girl that raped him when he was drunk. I was 17 and I laughed at him, thinking it was hilarious that he got "raped" by a girl, but he didn't laugh back. His reasoning may have been that he was ashamed of being forced to have sex by someone that wasn't physically attractive, but it doesn't really matter why someone doesn't want to have sex. That shit is gonna stick with him for the rest of his life. I never found it funny ever again. I've had women force themselves on me and in the same way that you disbelieve that men can be legitimately raped, I disbelieve that you don't see how it's possible for a man to be put into a situation of extremely emotional and/or physical discomfort by a woman, sometimes not even knowing what in the world to do about it considering all of the societal pressures one grows up with. And with as much discomfort as I went through in those situations, I can't imagine what it's like for anyone that doesn't have a way to do anything about it.
Ok, I read pages 34-38. Your reactions make so much more sense! I just thought AS was freaking out the way he did in the WoW Quitters thread. Nope. Anyways, sorry for ruining your deep opportunity to share. Rule of thumb now, at least three pages back.
