I have started reading (THANKS ANGIE NOW I HAVE NO LIFE AGAIN), and I'm not even out of Part 1 before Araki kills off my favorite character so far. I should probably get used to this, right?

Also I am pretty sure that Speedwagon is secretly in love with Jojo.

Otherwise, I really like the art (which is unusual for me; I don't really like the beefcake look), and Araki managed to give a character a sweet mustache without making him look creepy as hell.

Yeah, over the years Araki has racked up a favorite character death count that puts A Song of Ice and Fire to shame. He tends to let them go out glamorously, though.

Between the nudity and the nazis's and Jojo's ability to annoyingly predict what people are about to say, I just can't contain myself.

Oh gosh, Jojo... I love Jojo's Bizarre Adventure for all the reasons listed above. I love it because of how smart the characters are: they win fights not due to a higher power level or more training, but because they can think fast on their feet, have a good grasp of science and mathematics, and are capable of using their abilities in extremely creative ways. I love it because it is both surreal and consistent with itself, so things that happen are whacked out, but make sense at the same time. I love how the characters are written and how fun the whole series is. And of course I love how fabulous it is; how could I not?

Joseph is so many people's favorite Jojo for very good reasons.

Also, Google Translate has decided to start translating Pillar Men to Men's Pole on Pixiv, and it kills me every time.

So I didn't know what Pixiv was, so I went there and the first thing I saw was this:



Is it wrong that this image terrifies me? It's well-done, but uncanny in a Dorian Gray kind of way. She's watching me.

Pixiv is Japan's DeviantArt. I go there to look at the Jojo, FKMT, and Yakuza tags.

This just makes me sad that the Yakuza thread in the PC/Video Games Subforum's so damn quiet.

Also, once I finally finish classes in a week, I'll be diving into the world of Jojo with the rest of the thread... for now, I'm just appreciating your synopses of the manga arcs.

I am pretty sure I have blogged every single piece of fanart of Daigo crossdressing from Yakuza: Dead Souls on tumblr thanks to Pixiv.

..Yeah... that just reminds me of how much of a dick Majima can be. Then again, Daigo kinda deserved it for what he did in Yakuza 4.

You know? Jojo's and Yakuza are sorta similar, in that both feature incredibly badass protags, physics-defying combat, and lots and lots of blood. I get the feeling any Jojo fan would probably love Yakuza, and vice-versa.

There's this vortex of Japanese content that I have discovered where if you like one piece of it, you are incredibly likely to like all pieces of it. It's basically Jojo - FKMT - Yakuza - Dorohedoro. I can safely recommend any of those to someone who likes one of them and have a really high success rate.

I was going to do a post about Araki's Rohan-themed sideworks (Rohan goes to Gucci and Rohan goes to the Louvre) but instead I decided to mention this.

So does that character have some kind of magic for passing through objects? Or the ability to grow weapons out of their hand? Or a wisecracking ghost for a companion who is also a gun?

My guess is the ability to go through objects, since that's something sortof explored in part 2. I really don't know though.

Hol Horse's Stand is his gun. Stand's are summoned from inside you, so that's Hol Horse pulling out his gun and preparing to fire.

I will also say that once any of you who have picked up the series make it through part 3, you should DEFINITELY watch the old OVA WITH the English dub. You will laugh so hard.

Dio's actually really appropriate. Hol Horse will amuse the hell out of you.

And it'll make you shout AVDOL-SAN in bewilderment.

(They kept honoriffics for Kakyoin it's hilarious)

I'm finally introduced to Loggins, and all I can think of is how Kenny Loggins ruined Christmas.

Tequila Joseph is the prettiest Jojo girl.

So I decided to give this another try and actually made it all the way to part two this time around.
