That's weird. I'm playing it at 1920x1080 on a 24" monitor and I haven't had any issues with the font size. What are you running it at?

I'm playing at 2560x1440 and it's pretty tiny. I can do OK with it, but I do really wish there was a UI scaling option.

Also, despite having this for awhile, I really gave it an honest try this weekend. Only a couple missions into the campaign and still learning, but I absolutely love it.

1440x900 on a 17"-ish monitor. Yes, it's probably time for a bigger monitor, but I'd rather not have a game force that on me.

Considering Walmart doesn't even bother selling anything smaller then a 19", I'd say you are well behind the curve. ;-)

Wouldn't people playing Anno on a laptop have the same issue?

Are the DLC packs for this game worth getting? Interestingly, the in-game store lists combo packs for DLC that Steam doesn't offer - have to buy them individually.

Good point, but apparently the devs don't feel it's worth addressing.

IIRC, the Steam packs are inclusive. I've only ever bought the DLCs off of Steam, and according to the in-game store, I have them all.

The packs add missions, buildings, and npc content, along with some small advantages that carry over into campaign missions and continuous missions as well. I don't know if those advantages are present in multiplayer, as I don't like playing with strangers.

I'm about half way through the campaign and I'm finding the current mission just really annoying. I keep restarting it and not quite getting where I need to pull it off, mainly because doesn't really do a good job of telling you what to do at times. Really my biggest issue with the Anno games, as I remember similar issues with Anno 1404. It doesn't help that while there are several video walkthroughs out there for this game, nobody seems to have done much of a text one, which is a lot easier format to make a quick check to see what you are doing wrong.

I love constructing production chains. But I hate the tedious quests and the ridiculous NPCs. I'd ignore them, but the NPCs just won't shut up about their need for ten bear asses or whatever.

Bear asses are still a valuable commodity in 2070!

The government should really consider going on the Bear Ass Standard. They are a timeless treasure!

I just got this today, so I just played the first two missions in the first campaign. Wow, I am really loving this.

So are most people doing the campaign or continuous play (on what difficulty?) or multiplayer or world events (whatever those are?) or what? This thread is very short of specifics and very long on people saying it's a fantastic game and hating on the DRM.

I went through the first leg of the campaign and it was alright. About 7 hours into a continuous easy game. It's fun, but the game is such a timesink. I'm usually good about being aware of the time while gaming, but last night I went to bed late because I was playing for about twice as long as I thought I'd been.

And wow are the missions horrible!

I've been going back and forth between the campaign and continuous play. I'm about half way through the campaign at this point. Those continuous games are real time sinks, though without any "win" I tend to get bored eventually.

I completed a handful of campaign missions to get my feet wet in terms of game mechanics and interface, but now I mostly do continuous play so I can futz around at my own pace. It's a bit like Civilization for me: I won't play it at all for a few months, then I'll randomly sink 12 hours into a couple maps over a weekend.

I try to do missions as they add on to my overall score. My score will periodically crack a threshold and open up a new bonus or item.

I have a hard time restraining myself in continuous games. I end up running the same game over a period of two weeks, sinking something like 30 hours into it overall, until I decide the time is right to shame my AI opponents. The addon gave me more excuses as it provided a non-violent way of knocking out your opponents (share purchasing), so now my games are even longer.

I can't tell you how many times I've said to myself "Ok, self, we just need to construct all 3 monuments, and then we'll have enough revenue to completely buy out all the opponents before they can really react". And then, I notice it's Tuesday, I started playing on Thursday, my children haven't been fed and my house is currently burning down.

I got the game yesterday, so I did the first two missions to get a feel for the game. I'll likely keep doing the campaigns until I feel comfy enough to do the free play mode eventually. Really enjoying it though, and it's sooo pretty.

If you new players haven't seen it yet, you should bookmark the Anno 2070 Wiki. I specifically like the Building Layout pages (I've memorized a few of them, by now), and a link off to a few online and spreadsheet calculators you can use to predict resource requirements for your burgeoning population.
