Argue about the Political Compass and other political orientation tests here

I suspect my socially liberal whatnot dragged me down the libertarian path further than it probably should've, since I am perfectly happy to let the government do all sorts of shit for my socialist dreams to come true. :P

Well yea, while the two axis presentation goes some way to mitigating the obvious problems with a left/right scale, it does little to illustrate the genuinely binary nature of some political positions. For example I'm not sure it makes sense to say that someone "tends towards libertarianism" (as almost all of us must do if the graph is to be believed) when they support an array of socialist policies which require a great deal of state power to implement. That undervalues the principled differences between political theories, and implicitly suggests that there are no real barriers to creating a liberal/libertarian/socialist cocktail that remains consistent.
