Well, this was my second ever game of Arkham Horror. I tried asking for advice and doing what little people suggested, but apart from fauxgirlfriend, nobody really offered much.
So sorry, you feel like that and thanks to faux for doing all this work.
  2. Kat Keeper of the Elemental Materials

Forgot to mention that, thank you for the work you put into this faux!

I honestly think that part of the issue is Arkham Horror itself; it doesn't have that much in the way of player interaction, and everyone basically just does his own thing in, uh, loose cooperation with every other player. The only stuff that's really interactive is handing each other stuff (money, items) and giving advice...

... which I kinda didn't want to do because I have a tendency in board games to be That Guy Who Tells Everyone What To Do.

    Eh..

Sorry to hear you guys felt that way, Kat and Nate. In addition to what Aaron said I think it's also hard to give much advice to people because the game is such a huge collection of random events that the optimal thing to do is often "Uhhh... I dunno." Going to any given location might have you teleporting around multiple boards like Hanzii did, or getting sucked into a useless gate and being taken out of the action for most of the game like I did. And in keeping with the general randomness the game ended early because after not doing much rising for a long time we got two deep one tokens in a row the last two turns, which didn't actually give us any time to do anything about it. Sadly the effect of real life causing big delays and stretches of silence in forum games is always a factor too.
    AaronSofaer and Hanzii like this.

...we *are* going to fight Yog, right, rather than just griping at him?

(Sorry, all. I understand your attitudes, but (a) I quite enjoyed the whole thing and (b) I am way too damn tired to type a sympathetic paragraph right now. Will hopefully come back and edit this later.)

We can certainly try! Of course Yog has magic immunity, which mean magic spells and weapons give you 0 combat bonus against him. And because this was a seven player game he effectively has 84 hit points. I guess Akachi could take all of Joe's weapons and everyone else alive already has two hands worth of physical weapons, so we just need to see if we're using the EPIC BATTLE cards and draw one of Yog's greens for the first round of the fight.

Somehow, I missed that part about his hit points. Well, fh'tagn. Might as well throw everything we've got at him and see how well we do, at least...
