In a bold move to take the most-times on-sale crown away from Magicka or possibly Terraria, the Steam Daily Deal for January 28th is once again The Binding of Isaac for $1.24 (75% off). Buy it now and give it to your friends. Give it to your enemies. Bury it in a time capsule so people can find out in 200 years what Steam game kept going on sale all the time (other than Magicka and Terraria).
Green Man Gaming has a bunch o' midweek deals up: DARK SOULS: Prepare to Die Edition $19.99 (50% off). This game is like a delicious deep pie, except the pie is filled with death. But the pie is delicious so you keep eating it anyway*. Jane's Advanced Strike Fighters $7.49 (75% off). Jane is angry and she has a bunch of planes to shoot you with. Dead Island GOTY Edition $6.79 (66% 0ff) plus DLC also 66% off. I can't remember if I posted this one already because it's basically the zombie version of Magicka now in terms of going on sale. Inversion $19.99 (50% off). You'll flip for this game (ho ho). The description for this is an intriguing combination of storytelling and video game cliches: Take on the role of a young father and husband, David Russel, who finds himself thrust into war when his peaceful city is invaded by an unknown enemy. With his daughter missing and conventional weapons and tactics all but useless, this ordinary cop and his partner Leo Delgado will rise up to heed the call of duty, master the fundamental forces of gravity and save the world. Secret Files 3 $10.19 (66% off). "The long-awaited third instalment (sic) of the most successful adventure series of the past years." Of the past years! Risen $4.99 (75% off). I quote: "Raw, gritty and atmopheric." So, like untreated particulate matter belching from some ancient factory's smokestack. Or an RPG similar to Gothic but with less insane controls. * possibly the worst analogy ever for Dark Souls
GamersGate's Daily Deal #1 for January 29 is indie platformer Awesomenauts for $3.00 (70% off). Daily Deal #2 is Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning for $9.99 (75% off). The latter requires Origin.
Courtesy slickdeals.net: EA Publisher Sale for all XBox Live Members from (1/29 to 2/4) http://slickdeals.net/f/5827016-EA-Publisher-Sale-on-XBox-Live-Marketplace-1-29-2-4 Featuring many at half price, including: Deathspank, Shank 1/2, Warp, Dragon Age: Origins (and many DLCs), Dragon Age 2 (and many DLCs), Madden 13, NFL Blitz, SSX, Tiger Woods 13, and others.
The Steam Midweek Madness deal is up for all your Tuesday through Thursday insanity needs: Deadlight $7.49 (50% off). Are you tired of zombies and platformers? Erm...you may want to think carefully before playing this game. I do not see a second midweek deal so it's Deadlight or bust for now. The Steam Daily Deal for January 29 is Risen 2 for $10.19 (66% off). Please cut and paste my Risen comment from the previous post and append the number 2 for maximum benefit.
Actually Awesomenauts appears to be some sort of 2D sideways MOBA ... platformer. Wacky, but looks like multiplayer only. Amalur for 9.99 is a pretty good deal - there's a buttload of content in the game, the combat is enjoyable and the story/world is based on the lesser exploited (although that's changing recently) Welsh mythology and English folklore (and a smattering of Nordic too, apparently) of the warring fae tribes rather than elves/dwarves/dragons etc. The world is generic as are most of the characters, but the combat really IS quite entertaining and the gear upgrade cycle is as addictive as usual in action RPGs. Maybe even more so, since it has a clever branching multiclass system which lets you switch relatively easily if you should happen to find a specific upgrade in a completely different tree. Oh, and it's purty.
Awesomenauts is a lite DOTA-clone, and it's awesome. It has a nice sense of humor and you don't have to be insano good to have fun.
GamersGate's Daily Deal for January 30 is Offspring Fling! for $2.40 (70% off). While it sounds like something based off a reality TV series it is, in fact, an indie platformer: Offspring Fling is a game about a poor forest creature that has misplaced all of her children. She'll have to fight her way through over 100 levels of action puzzle platforming to get them all back home. There's danger around every corner, but she won't rest until her family is safe again.
Did you miss out on the Paradox packs that were on sale at Amazon over Thanksgiving and Christmas? Well, fret not, because they're on sale once again! BONUS: They seem to qualify for the $5 Editor's Choice Credit despite not being on the EC page. I tested this with the Plentiful Pack, and it took $5 off in my cart. Tomorrow is the final day to use up those $5 EC Credits. Pint Sized Paradox Package for $7.49 ($2.49 after EC Credit) Warlock: Master of the Arcane Majesty Gold - HD Majesty 2 Collection Crusader Kings II: Songs of the Holy Land Crusader Kings II: Songs of the Faith Crusader Kings II: Songs of the Albion Crusader Kings II: Ruler Designer DLC Crusader Kings II: Mongols DLC Pack Crusader Kings II: Dynasty Shields DLC Pack Plentiful Paradox Package $9.99 ($4.99after EC Credit) Crusader Kings II Magicka Collection Magicka The Stars Are Left DLC Sword of the Stars - Complete Collection Sword of the Stars II: Enhanced Edition Victoria II Paradox Majesty Franchise $9.99 ($4.99after EC Credit) Defenders of Ardania Battlemagic Defenders of Ardania Defenders of Ardania: The Conjurer's Tricks DLC Majesty 2 Collection Majesty Gold - HD Warlock Master of the Arcane Master of Artifacts DLC Warlock Master of the Arcane Power of the Serpent DLC Warlock Master of the Arcane Return of the Elves DLC Warlock Master of the Arcane Powerful Lords DLC Warlock Master of the Arcane Paradox War Chest $7.49 ($2.49after EC Credit) Achtung Panzer Kharkov 1943 Gettysburg: Armored Warfare Hearts of Iron III Collection King Arthur Collections King Arthur II Victoria II Victoria II: A House Divided - Expansion Paradox Seas Bundle $9.99 ($4.99after EC Credit) Commander: Conquest of the Americas - Colonial Navy Commander: Conquest of the Americas East India Company Collection Naval War: Arctic Circle Pirates of Black Cove - Origins DLC Pirates of Black Cove Ship Simulator Extremes Victoria II Victoria II: A House Divided - Expansion Edit: WHOA! I'm seeing rumors like this one that sometime later today there will be two additional packs added. One that contains all Crusader Kings content from both I and II for $9.99 (so $4.99 post EC Credit) and another called the Paradox 2012 Pack for $14.99 ($9.99 after EC Credit) that contains a laundry list of great games (see the link). Could be worth saving your credits for!
Saints Row the Third: The Full Package (360 & PS3) $21.99 @ newegg (360 link, PS3 link) The Full Package contains more than $50 in bonus content, including: Saints Row: The Third base game All three downloadable mission packs: Genkibowl VII Gangstas in Space The Trouble With Clones More than 30 bonus DLC items including: Every weapon Every vehicle Every outfit
The Steam Daily Deal for January 30 is Alice: Madness Returns for $4.99 (75% off) in which American McGee appears as the final boss. Well, maybe not. It does include a Teapot Cannon, the perfect weapon for when madness just won't stay put.
And the Crusader Kings Complete Bundle is now up at Amazon. $9.99 ($4.99 with EC credit through tomorrow). The 2012 pack won't go up until 11AM EST tomorrow apparently, and keys are limited so it'll be first come first served.
ARRRGH it's not letting me buy it yet. I'm guessing it's still processing. I've been waiting for this, come ooooooooon F5. :D Oh. And it just went unavailable. RUUUUUUUUUDE!
they are fixing the bundle, as it was missing 4 dlc's , if you already ordered it contact amazon cs and let them know you are missing stuff.
I just want to double check before getting that CK2 deal, does anyone know if they give out steam keys for it?
They do indeed. I've just spent 10 minutes putting them all in. This is a ridiculous amount of DLC. :D
Word. Me too. I fired it up and tried the tutorials but eek, the numbers and the stats and the hierarchies and the relations... it's gonna take some upfront work. :)
Gamefly's -by-dog-sled mail delivery service has informed me that their midweek meltdown, ending January 31 at 11:59 PST covers the following games, which are 75% off. Choose to shoot men, Martians or mobsters: Just Cause 2 $4.99 Red Faction: Guerrilla $4.99 Mafia 2 $7.49
Shitburgers. Apparently the Paradox 2012 Bundle went live early this morning, and was sold out in seconds. On the bright side, they were also missing a bunch fo keys for it, so Amazon may have ended the sale because of that. I found this on another site: Quote from the Amazon rep: "I just spoke with my Paradox contact (he's in Iceland, I guess it is later in the day there ), they are going to try and get us keys by Friday at the latest and have agreed to keep the promotion up until the end of the day on Saturday. The Editor's Choice coupon will be extended FOR THIS PRODUCT ONLY until the end of the day on Saturday, assuming we get the keys." So if, like me, you were pretty much only waiting on that particular bundle (I already own the Seas Bundle and the Pint Sized bundle, so I really only want the CK stuff, Game of Dwarves and War of the Roses) they seem to be indicating that you could still snag it for $10 tomorrow or Saturday if you're lucky enough to find it active and they haven't sold out. Guess I'll be clicking that link hourly through Saturday.
Do you like your racing games sublime and subversive? You're in luck, as the Edge-recommended Ridge Racer Unbounded is GamersGate's Daily Deal for January 31. It's $10.20 (66% off). One of the key features is "crash through everything". Requires Steam. GG is also having a Darksiders Weekend sale with the original going for $4.99 (75% off), Darksiders II $14.99 (70% off) and the DLC 49-66% off.
Some of the everflowing DLC's, in combo with deals, are crazy. I went with the CK pack, $4.99 with my EC credit. This was (at least) my 4th purchase of parts of CK II. For five bucks it seemed worth it to add what I didn't already have -- The Republic and all of the songs and portraits. I now have ALL of CK II, which I would have had if I had never bought any of it before today, since this was the complete load for five bucks. And I have two copies of the base game, Sword of Islam, Rome, and Sunset Invasion. And the total that I paid is still less than 20 bucks. Crazy. This is also true of various portions of ANNO 2070, Magicka, Majesty 2, Heroes VI, and probably some other things as well. Who says computer gaming is dead? It's just chopped up in tiny little pieces.
Did you get a Steam key for Crusader Kings Complete? At this time I don't have one listed on my Amazon game library. All the rest eventually populated. These Crusader King orders may be acting funky. My keys have randomly vanished and reappeared several times over the past hour. I suspect this is related to what SlainteMhath detailed above. Edit: Just spoke with Amazon CS. They are aware of issues related to CD keys properly displaying in the Game Library. It is being worked on.
Steam Weekend Deals are up: Painkiller: Hell and Damnation, the HD remake of the original (now with co-op) is $6.79 (66% off) and the multiplayer portion is free to play until 1 p.m. PST Sunday. Will MSUSteve bite this time? Let's find out! On a less hellish note, the Dungeon Master-inspired Legend of Grimrock is $5.09 (66% off). Puzzles! Giant slugs! A party of four conveniently chained together!
And the daily deal is The Walking Dead, by far the most hellish game on Steam and highly recommended.
I knew I was forgetting something. The Walking Dead is $12.49 (50% off) and goes on sale so often somewhere or other that if you buy it at full price you should ask to have this thread permanently blocked from view.
Huh, I didn't notice. I do not! But I suspect I'll be fine with just CK 2 - CK Complete is available for download, just no key. I can wait. :) Everything else does have a key which redeemed as expected (you can check by going to Steam's CK 2 page and adding all DLC to cart - it'll note what you don't have yet and in my case it was nothing).
You'll have your guinea pig license revoked! One thing I discovered is that despite being a remake, Painkiller H&D does not include all of the levels from the original, so it's more of a 'best of' package, something to keep in mind for those still mulling. Meanwhile, gog.com is offering 60% off a bunch of Strategy First games again for their weekend deal: Jagged Alliance $2.39 Jagged Alliance: Deadly Games $2.39 Jagged Alliance 2 $3.99 Sacred Gold $3.99 Patrician 3 $2.39 Ghost Master $2.39 Disciples 2 Gold $3.99 Disciples: Sacred Lands Gold $2.39 Port Royale 2 $2.39 Flatout $2.39 Darkstar One $3.99 Combat Mission: Beyond Overlord $3.99 Strategic Command: European Theater $3.99 Pro Pinball Big Race USA $2.39 Pro Pinball Fantastic Journey $2.39 Pro Pinball Timeshock $2.39 Comanche Vs. Hokum $2.39 Apache Vs. Havoc $2.39 Combat Chess $2.39 GamersGate's Daily Deal for February 1 is Company of Heroes Complete for $8.74 (75% off). This includes both Opposing Forces and Tales of Valor expansions. This was the RTS that got me playing RTSes again. As it turned out, that list ended up being pretty much just CoH in the end but I sank many an hour into it. Frozen Synapse is currently $7.80 (66% off). This still includes a bonus free copy to share with a friend (or enemy). I will say again how glad I will be when DMC goes out of the rotation as one of the background ads on GG. I can't remember the last time I wanted to slap a smirk off someone's face so much. This is the face, for reference: "I am so totally cool and badass."
That looks more like a "man, does that fart I just ripped reek. I need to go to a doctor, it smells so bad" look.
Green Man Gaming has the Skyrim DLC Dragonborn on sale for $16.00. http://www.greenmangaming.com/s/us/en/pc/games/rpgs/elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-dragonborn/ It releases Feb 5th.
For those hoping for a second chance at the Paradox 2012 Bundle that went on sale early Thursday morning while we were all sleeping...possible bad news. I pulled this from a thread over on CAG:
Steam's Daily Deal for February 1 is helicopter-crashing simulator Prototype 2 for $15.99 (60% off). Until 4 p.m. GMT on Saturday, GMG is offering Sleeping Dogs for $12.49 (75% off) and up to 75% off on various Square Enix games (apparently it's GMG's turn after Steam's sale last weekend).
Gamefly is offering an All You Can Kill Weekend in the form of up to 75% off Assassin's Creed games: Assassin's Creed III $39.99 Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood $4.99 Assassin's Creed Revelations $10.20 Assassin's Creed Director's Cut $4.99 Assassin's Creed II $4.99 Assassin's Creed Collection $62.99 (this includes every game and requires a measly 51 GB of disk space)
Delivering a real kick in the nuts to folks that bought it three days ago for $39.99, Amazon has the Hitman HD Trilogy on sale for $24.99.
