    You have to bear in mind the peculiarities here. This is a more than usually interim position - the person appointed will serve for 6 months until the special election (with Patrick looking for an appointee who won't run in it) and even the person who runs and wins the special election only serves until 2014. Frank's been all but Shermanesque about not wanting to run, which I personally count a sad loss for American parliamentarism.
