In any case, I don't get the "Did you think that you were the only one?" bit in the trailer, since pretty much every other character talks about a long line of dragonborns. Whew, glad we cleared that up, it changes everything.
It's assumed that the Dragonborn were gone, and the PC of Skyrim is the first in a long time. The fact that there is more than one in the world is new information and contradictory to what we knew in Skyrim.
I wonder how they're going to do the dragon mounts. Will they be permanent like horses? Or will it be a temporary mind-control sort of thing?
That would be lovely. I'm pretty sure I saw the dragonborn mounting a Blood Dragon in the trailer, though. Yup. It's at 0:51. And the one at 1:09 looks like an Ancient Dragon. Maybe you'll have to find and capture one?
That's what I was thinking. Which is too bad, I was hoping for something more permanent. Perhaps they'll let you use the shout on Odahviing whenever you want. The upcoming DLC has caused me to pick Skyrim back up again. I still haven't done the civil war questline or Dawnguard.
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat!? Get on it! You only need to do one, they are basically the same thing just in different locales (Same missions).
Heh, I saved it for last because early on I was trying to choose a side to support and got fed up with them both. The Thalmor are all oppressive 'n' stuff but Ulfric's a dick. I figured I'd do everything else first before deciding, but I ended up just not picking a side. Besides, I heard that the civil war quests change some of the cities quite a bit.
I swore I wouldn't wrap up the MQ until I finished modding dragons to my hearts' content. My first vanilla dragon died to a bear and frostbite spider. >.>
It just ends up changing the type of guards by the time you're done the whole questline. For my part, I'd say you want to go with the Empire based on what you have said here. If you hate the Thalmor and the Rebel King, then your best bet is to re-unite Skyrim with the Empire. Dividing Skyrim from the Empire will only embroil the two in a large civil war, making it easier for the dirty high elves to win the overall war.
The screenshots, the videos... it all completely fails to pull me in or even raise the slightest hint of interest. I seem to be over Skyrim.
When you put it that way, the Thalmor's plan really seems like a Xanatos Gambit. No matter who wins the civil war, humankind is weakened.
Is it bad that I never completed the main questline in Skyrim despite having having played for a total of 471 hrs (according to Steam)?
...I think I can top that... I've never completed the Main Quest in any Elder Scrolls title. I tend to get caught up in modding the crap out of them (at least in the later titles) and exploring. Hell, the closest I got to beating a Bethesda title was Fallout 3... even then, I don't think I finished Broken Steel.
Dawnguard is 50% off on Steam ($9.99) for the next 38.5 hours. If you've been holding off buying it because you wanted the value of gameplay to monies that Skyrim offered, you're a little bit closer for the next day and a half.
