WHY AM I SO BAD AT PLANNING THINGS. So this is gonna be the 29th. Thus far I see that MulMizu, Alligator, Siren, HannibalZee, Elyscape, Jaakusan, and shift6 are planning on trying to attend? (Along with possibly spouses, fiances, and/or partners?) And I actually don't know if MikeSofaer is going to come, but I should probably just ask him instead of posting on a forum about it. I need to know if you're actually going to make it, and what time you would be showing up. I live in San Jose, in an apartment complex right near Milpitas. It's easily accessible via both 101 and 880. It's quite accessible via public transit as well, but we can probably get you a ride from the Caltrain or whatever instead of you having to take the light rail / bus up through downtown San Jose! Bring FOOD or non-alcoholic beverages (preferably food) even if you're bringing booze, unless you're MulMizu and taking the bus up from LA or something crazy like that. Speak With Bread will be Skype'ing in, so if you aren't there, she'll make sad faces at me over Skype and nobody wants that, right. There will be board games. Feel free to bring more. Please don't show up before, oh, 3PM. That'll give me time to sleep in, realize I've slept in far too late, frantically start cleaning, give up, throw everything into my bedroom, contemplate cooking, realize I'm out of time, and then say "fuck it!" and start cooking anyway, trusting people to amuse themselves if they show up before I'm done. PS: If you have food allergies or restrictions, let me know. I can make vegan food, I can make food without nuts, I can make food without soy, I don't think I can make decent vegan non-soy non-nuts low-carb food but I can bloody well try. (PS: Trying is not succeeding. I would just make you beans. "Here, have some beans! On a bed of... mixed greens!")
I will be there at, let's say, 6? Really, I can be there whenever, but I'll go with 6 unless somebody convinces me of another time. Also, I live within walking distance of the San Jose Diridon Station, which conveniently is a major hub station thing for Caltrain, Amtrak, the lightrail, and lots of busses. This is relevant because the apartment came with a hugenormous television and I have video games. JUST THROWING THAT OUT THERE. Food-wise, I don't eat pork, seafood, or mixed milk and meat.
Kosher meat only in meat dishes, or does lack of kashrut of butchery / kitchen / person cooking it not bother you? Also, my apartment has a ginormous HDTV. Which we got for free. Because my girlfriend is awesome at Craigslist apparently! We have an XBOX360 but we don't have much in the way of games (we do have a couple; Crackdown, Assassin's Creed something-or-other, and some action RPG that takes up to 3 players), so people are welcome to bring 360 games or other consoles + games. But I find that board games can amuse people pretty well on their own, too.
I don't care about that so much, no. So long as the animal is kosher and there aren't dairy ingredients, I'm cool. I'd prefer it if cooking utensils were cleaned if, like, they were used for pork/seafood dishes beforehand (Mongolian barbeques can be problematic for this reason), but otherwise it's all good.
Awesome. Since I plan on cleaning the fuck out of the kitchen before I start making the (beef) chili, that'll work out okay.
I have no idea what time we'll be showing up, but it'll be later on anyway. We're going into SF first to see friends there and then coming back down when that's all done with. I'll see if I can bludgeon hubby into figuring out a rough timeline when he gets home from work. Or lunch, if he comes home for that. We don't have any dietary restrictions :) I have so many goddamn muffins though it is not even funny. You all better eat most of them, save for a few for Speak.
I will bring some pumpkin bread and try to arrive around 6. I live in Mountain View, so I expect traffic >> Ooh, I could also bring pizza if people want it? The only consoles I own are not so great for party games so I will not bother. :P And as far as I know I have no dietary restrictions. If I ever visit, just be aware that I'm vegan with allergies to both legumes and fructose. And I can't STAND greens.

STILL NO IDEA WHAT TIME WE WILL BE SHOWING UP. We plan to be in SF at noonish, haven't heard from ANYONE we're supposed to be meeting with, but we have things to occupy ourselves with failing that. We may wind up leaving our car somewhere and taking BART or whatever into the city for a bit before coming back down. Worst case I'll just text Aaron every half hour telling him what we are doing. I *just* got back into the land of internet access. Maryland tonight (with my mother recommencing her freakout packing), San Jose tomorrow, pre-op Monday morning, Mom arrives in San Jose Tuesday afternoon, pre-op Wednesday afternoon, surgery Thursday. Busy week ahead.
