Agreed on that, I just didn't find most of it to be very good, and the battle music could be a bit generic.

The car and licensed music, even if the field burning got too wubby, was used very well. The car music especially helped nail down the atmosphere. Plus there was a good joke in the database about only bad guys being the only people who listen to dub step.

Best new game mechanic is the first award in the article? Seems suspicious to me. If you go with your big guns first then it should be best ending or best character or something like that. It does seem like he's shoving his friend's game in the readers face.

Was FE's city growth mechanic that good? Honest question; I haven't played (and never will play) the game, and I've never heard anyone mention that particular aspect of the game. But I iz ignorant, so I'm curious if that particular award is deserved.

Given your assumption, why would best character or best ending go first rather than the game part of the games?

It is a good mechanic. Overall I have no desire to play the game again -- especially after discovering Eador: Genesis -- but there are a number of good/interesting mechanics at work in FE. They just don't cohere into a satisfying whole.

Technically this thread is related to the original Elemental, not Fallen Enchantress. So Fallen Enchantress's PR is great, and Elemental's PR is so bad that it continues to rage on even years after the fact and will [cause Brad to] destroy the company.

Well, the Elemental PR was actually a huge win, because it caused gamers to expect better PR and games in general and they got a meaningful payout (Fallen Enchantress).

Some people just have a very peculiar type of aphasia that causes them to see the words "Tom Chick" and read them as "Brad Wardell" and vice versa.

Well, the real "I Hate Tom Chick" Tumblr has been taken over by the Halo Defense Force, so options have become limited.

Well, it's obviously because Brad managed to actually hold onto the Fallen Enchantress Materials. That makes all the difference.

Tom's making a public display of not writing off Brad for his online behavior, much as he did a couple of weeks ago in Qt3's thread about the lawsuit. Instead of the general-sounding "Best PR," he might have called it "Best PR Gesture" or something. But he seems quite determined to take his support of Brad pretty far, arguing aggressively and often with nothing but contempt. It's disturbing to me, which is why I'm trying this place.
