Broken Forum Secret Santa 2012!

I've been seriously considering sending something that I have no idea if they'd like. Issue is I'm still waiting on a restock, if it doesn't come soon I may have to abandon that option and get something else, what I have no idea, possibly just a game.

I'm curious if Santas tend to reveal themselves to their Santee after the opening of gifts or do people tend to keep it all secret?

Traditionally the Santa reveals themselves via a card or letter accompanying the gift.

On Qt3, Fire usually revealed the list after all was done. That may or may not be a precedent for here though.

Yeah, I'd just put my name on a card with the gift. There's no reason to keep your identity secret once they have opened it.

Why is it every year my Secret Santee just goes dark and doesn't post anymore as soon as Santees go out?

Well... I haven't sent mine out yet, but I was going to order from a company and have it sent directly to my Santee for part of the present. If they have the option for a gift message I'll put my name on it, but otherwise... Well, I suppose the packing slip will have my real name on it as the billing address. But then my Santee doesn't know my real name. Hm. Suggestions?

Looks like I can scratch Dean off my list of potential Santas, too, unless this is simply a ruse on his part intended to throw me off the scent...

Still though! That's gotta make it tough. What do you get for the guy who likes everything?!? You can't fail, but at the same time I'd imagine there is pressure to find something for extra extra likes.

I've stalked quite a bit, learned the person's real name, found an Amazon wishlist in that name, and still have no idea what to buy. HMM.

My santee might get the handmade portion of his/her gift after the deadline. I haven't had the downtime to work on it much this past week.

I think there's always a great sense of forgiveness for handmade stuff.

Except for anything BillD "makes himself".

In my stalking I went back to a post made by my Santee on a board that is not this one over five years ago.

My gift will probably have two waves. The handmade part got started late this year from when I meant to get it started and those little yeasts take a while to properly eat sugar and shit alcohol.

That's actually a good name for a brew.

I was able to glean some general information but not a whole lot in the way of specifics about what my Santee would like, at least not in my price range. Pretty sure I had a great idea but it turned out to be far too expensive. I got something which I hope will at least provide a new experience in the hopes that they like it or at least some aspect of it.

I too am having stalking troubles. Sigh.
