Astromarine, I really appreciate you picking up the ball and running with it, so don't let it get you down if you have to take time off here and there. The original idea was to have rotating hosts anyway rather than have it all fall on one person.

I'll help any way I can.

workload is OK, nothing major, and since it's pretty much the most creativity-oriented thing I've done in my life, I couldn't be happier. All I need is volunteers for the jibba-jabba, the craic, the patter, the bullshitting, and the whining about game companies :D

Finally started listening to these and am really surprised at how well they're turning out given that they basically stemmed from a "Hey, you know what would be cool?" idea. Good job Astromarine and guests!

Another great one Astromarine. I wondered how the podcast would be, when it was a game you weren't as familiar with, but you have been a great host for both the photography and SotS sections which you admit you don't know much about, but carry the discussion and lead the participants by asking great questions to keep the discussion moving.

Also bonus with you hosting the podcast: your accent! There are too many podcasts where the participants can all blend into each other with who is talking because everyone's voice sounds the same (generic male in 30's American)! (I'm thinking the 1up podcasts of the past or The Nerdist podcast) It makes it distinctive as to defining each persons view points and I appreciate it!

I never understood why painting and playing war games with miniatures went together. They seem like very disparate hobbies. In another life I could see myself getting into the latter, but not really the former.

I don't think they go together, they're often two crowds and the only thing they have in common is the minis they use.

This. There are a few people who love both, but they are the minority. It's usually one or the other, and they can often mix with dangerous results. For example, we had a guy who was just an amazing painter, he was a professional artist, and would laboriously paint his figures, and tended to just paint whatever looked cool, and didn't like painting vehicles. The guy would also only play with painted figures. Second guy is a WAAC gamer, has massive amounts of armies, mostly all grey. Tends to pick up the newest whizz bang, especially if he's heard it's powerful and he knows the rules and how to exploit them to the fullest.

First guy basically got to set down some pretty figures, and then remove them shortly after, and was a bit upset. Second guy, at first was all whooo crushing victory! Though later he realized his mistake, and has attempted to reform.

Oh, I didn't quite finish the segment yet, but I guess I got the wrong impression from the podcast. So the guys on the podcast fell more into the painting side?

Edit: And including the names of the people in the episode description would be nice since I'm bad with names and it would save me from saying "the guys."

I just listened to the latest podcast, nice job guys! My knowledge of the whole SOTS saga is a bit muddled, so it was great to hear more info about it from folks closer to the whole thing. Is there a way I can link to this particular episode so I can include it in my daily news posts?

And thank you guys so much for the shout out at the end, I got all broken up and teary. That was so sweet. :) I do have a question though, at the end, one of y'all said "keep doing more something something..." which got garbled behind other voices. I listened to it twice and couldn't make it out. What did y'all want me to keep doing more of?

Painting is a tremendously zen activity, fwiw. It's an easy way to relax and lose many hours. I gave up mini games several years ago, but I still miss painting sometimes.

anyone else noticed any major differences in audio quality (of my voice, which is the only thing I have control over, of course) between the three parts of the cast? I dunno why, but for some reason in Ryan's segment I sound like shit to me.

Just listened (well on the drive back from work) to the Warhammer podcast with Iain and Dan. Fantastic, really enjoyed it. I wanted to join in and ask questions! As a lapsed Warhammerer I enjoyed the combination of trip down memory lane, and insider knowledge.

Although I know a lot of it had to do with the quality of contributors, I think enormous credit also goes to Astromarine. He keeps apologising, and pointing out he's learning but I thought the structure and pace was excellent. Too often on fan made podcasts there is over-talking, pointless rambles, and "what are we walking about again?" moments. He obviously put effort into a structure that was well communicated beforehand. He also gave both guests ample time to give their views, and (thank god) directed them to who he expected to answer.

So A+++ will listen again. Good subject, good guests, good structure, good editing, and (despite what he may think) good sound quality.

Another great podcast guys. Been interested in MWO, but I just need to put some time into learning the basic controls and getting my mech moving properly. Wish they had a little training course to let you fumble around a little bit first before getting shot at!

Also, RyanMM great beer segment as well. Always enjoyable to hear someone talk about a favorite hobby of mine. Maybe jeffd and I could do a segment on homebrewing some time, with him on the more expert end, and me still learning the basics but growing in knowledge through trial and error, if he or another homebrewer on the forum is up to it.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I promise I'll eventually ease up on the self deprecation, it's just not really in my nature ;)

Can I get some feedback on the beer part? It was a bit of a gamble, as we're talking about what we're tasting as we do and the audience isn't necessarily on the same page. What did you guys think of it?
