As someone who didn't pick the Niners, I say let 'em stay. They didn't lose and going out on a tie would completely suck. I can't believe they don't use fractional scoring in the NFL.
You'd have the high road if you'd actually picked the Niners. The herd will be plenty thin by week 17. This is a coin toss situation.
I say let them stay but use it as a tie-breaker later if its needed. We've haven't lost many in this second round and with teams more defined now its possible it will take late into the season to finish it. If we get to the point where we run out of games then use the tie, if applicable to the players left, to give it to the person who did pick a winner.
Although this would knock me out, I'd lean this way myself. I'm cool with whatever the commish decides.
I searched several sites that post rules for Suicide/Survivor and most of them say ties lose. This makes sense to me because as mentioned, the idea is to pick winning teams, and a tie isn't a win. I only found one that said it was up to the person who ran the contest. If this was the standard practice, I'd probably allow it since I didn't state it beforehand (and I'm a swell guy). But, most places say ties lose. So, ties lose.
I was thinking how crazy it would be if the Chiefs were to tie. Apparently there's only been 2 in the last 10 years.
As an SF fan I'd like to argue that but I really can't, aside from the fact that SF had it won if Akers could make a 41 yard FG at home with no wind. But once they made it into OT, with that putrid possession SF had where they netted -5 yards of offense and St. Louis had a deep ball and FG wiped because of penalties. SF got outcoached in this game. That's been happening a lot more this season than last, which concerns me.
It boots me, too! I appreciate everyone being reasonable about this, BTW. I will amend the rules for next season to include this.
If the Chiefs could ever get a FG to close out regulation here, it's not entirely ridiculous to start wondering if we might see our second tie of the weekend, especially with the bad weather and Leftwich stumbling around at QB.
Overtime! I'm rooting for a tie now, not because I want the Pitt people to lose, but just because it would be too damned funny to lose 90% of the pool on TWO ties in the same weekend.
Of course, a tie would heavily rely upon Matt Cassel remembering his team doesn't wear black. Steelers survive! And ESPN actually just made a reference to people who had the Steelers in their survivor pools. :)
So, it looks like we're getting to the point where it's all teams I no longer trust. Cinci would be the obvious pick if not for Monday night.
