Oh, you're referring to the game played in real time with ramcat. Destroyed? Our units never met on the field of battle before you proclaimed, "Sorry, guys! Can't play anymore, because I have to educate America's future leaders." Lamest...excuse...ever.

Sorry about the delay in taking my turns. I blame dentistry.

And Caesar does proclaim, that the campaign against the barbaric English will halt. Our legions will continue to march south to tame the uncivilized peoples of that region, and enact tribute from our city state protecterates

Maybe if you stopped goddammed winning so much, we wouldn't be so mad at you.

Did you have to take my useless GG? Did you really?

There was no point. The only help I had (if I had any, it's not like I could see what was happening in that part of the world) just made peace with my enemy giving him full reign in taking my cities one by one... the only role left to me in the game was that of a speedbump giving the rest a bit more time to do, whatever they were doing.
The AI can do that - the outcome was inevitable.

    the buffalo.

Hell, if only I could see that part of the world. Theodora is in the way.

Hanzi, I salute you, you put up much more of a fight than I anticipated many decades ago. I can only assure you that your demise will be quick now that you have left the reigns. Although with your surrender I'll probably leave Utica as a buffer state. I had warned you that you could not rely upon the Celts, and offered peace then, but you saw through it knowing I would not be satiated by a temporary peace. Still, you put on a great fight, requiring me to hold still until the economic and technological damage of your sole-minded resistance came to fruition.

I have no regrets. Our war wasn't fruitful. Rather than fight a war of attrition where Deadbuffalo only loses a city state at most, I decided to shore up my defenses. Our natural borders are too good at aiding each other's defense, that is all.

I don't really know what is going on in the game that I am Russia in. I've been on vacation mode for quite a long time due to exam season, and after exams I was out of town for a bit and then busy with family stuff for a while. I probably could take it off vacation mode and play a couple of turns, but I'm going out of the country (and I'll be without access to internet) tomorrow so I don't really see the point. I'll be back and able to play on the 8th of January, if the AI hasn't started a suicide war or anything like that I'll see if I can salvage the poor Russians.

Impurify: Crashing when I try to take my turn. Other games running fine. Looks like it needs a revert.

Impurify: reverted, and retaken. Yesterday I noticed that I was unable to load multiple GMR games without restarting Civ5, and Civ 5 seemed less responsive while loading GMR games, so hopefully validating my local files resolves whatever issue there is/was.
  18. image Level 50 Hunter

Hmm. Same problem. After I click load game it causes the application to crash. Tried it from client download and website download.

Same problem here with "Frontier moves with the sun" game.

Maybe GMR's making changes on their end that's incorrectly modifying the save files.

I've reached out to the GMR team for both games. That sucks.

Per GMR, they're investigating some OOM issues with Civ 5 on both of those saves. Some suggestions have been to try in DX9, and to try freeing up as much memory as possible before launching Civ, or reloading Civ 5. Until I hear further from GMR I think both Frontier and Impurify are stuck.
  23. image Level 50 Hunter

DX9 worked! (I can't believe I didn't try that in the first place. Sorry guys.)

It's no longer working though, I tried a dozen times at the lowest possible settings and I could get the Frontier game to load without Civ 5 crashing out. Very annoying problem.

The host needs to revert back to a player whose download from GMR is not a bloated file. Then, for all future turns, follow my process for turn submissions. The process has worked well, so far, such that all games that were previously unplayable are back on track.

Also, I just took a turn in G&KMP in which the download file was 1,989, but the save file was 3,011 when I compared file sizes before submitting. So I canceled the Submit window, deleted the previous downloaded file (don't think this is required), manually downloaded a new file (don't think this is required), and re-took my turn. New save file was 1,989, so I submitted it.

Yeah, I've noticed that Frontier somehow got super bloated fast compared to other saved game files. I'm reverting 2 turns back, check to see if the file is less than 3000KB , if it isn't then I'll keep reverting

Impurify: 2685/2685. This seems a bit big...

It didn't work for me this morning when I tried again, but I can't check the file size until I get home.

Cross-posting from the other GMR thread so everyone's aware:

After reading McKnight's post and noticing the downloaded file size for Sans Spaceships was already at 1,612 KB, it struck me: "What if reloading the downloaded file from within the game is what's causing the save file to be bloated?"

So I ran some tests using Sans Spaceships, since it's the start of the game, and here are the results, the pdf of which I'm going to e-mail to GMR:

    GMR-Testing.jpg

So reloading the downloaded size file from within the game causes bloating of the save file.

So, everyone needs to stop cheating. Or just close Civ between cheating.

Reverted 6 turns to when the game was "normal" sized. Unfortunately 2 turns back was not enough, hopefully this should allow everyone to keep taking a turn. Hopefully now that we know the root cause, we can avoid these kinds of problem from here on out. My apologies for the inconvenience.

    There's No Fighting

Just FYI, Popov's Persians are pouncing on me. And he's apparently been doing nothing but building military units for the past like 8000 turns. Now's the time to hit him from behind.

So what's going on with our G&K Bored game is it done or what?
  38. Nate Worked The System

That's a really good question. I will look into this tonight. We might be able to de-bloat her and get her running again.

If you check in your saved hotseat game dir there should be a GMR _ Archive directory with every single turn you submitted. You can see how far back you need to go to debloat there. Just copy and paste the old turn from there into the hotseat dir and GMR should pick it up as a "new" turn, submit, and the game will continue. I did this successfully for frontier, at the cost of reverting 7 turns. Oh and make sure you submit the right game since the saves generally don't have the game-save name in them.
