He could use the increased income and recruiting locations to pincer attack me with Celt support in the north. I'd have to defend in all directions.

When Nate starts massing his troops to the south-east again and begin throwing them away at my superior army, I'll give you a heads up, so you can start taking his cities on your side - that way you'll have increased income and recruiting locations for the end game when the two of us rush for victory.

That means it's most likely a win for Hanzii. I'm still rebuilding after my failed "assault." image, you got anything? If we move together I think we can do some damage. I won't be able to do much alone, though.

I haven't really had a beef with Hanzii, but if I did want to fight a war with him, stretching my forces across the massive Russian buffer zone doesn't seem like a smart move.

Nobody has a beef with Hanzii. The Celts and the Americans are just now settling their small border dispute. After the Celts rejected our peace offering, we thought that killing them all and settling their lands was the most peaceful solution.

And while all that was going on, the brutish Russians thought they could walse in and steal our stuff. But they did teach us how to proper use citadels offensively. We're thankful for that lesson.
And for the lovely goldmine of course...

You gotta love the offensive citadel move. I did not use it as effectively as deadbuffalo did against the Huns, though.

Indeed. If I had realized you were about to attack me more than 2 moves before you initiated war it would have been more of a fight on my end. Lesson learned. My first finished game, on my end, against someone other than the computer! Thanks everyone :-) I'll be turning on AI this evening.

In the war room game, the smashing of my tiny empire has begun. DeadBuffalo's Austrians are sweeping across Byzantium with little resistance to face their unprovoked aggression. The walls of Constantinople will not hold.

Alright, so If I'm in a game with deadbuffalo and he's any where near me I should be looking forward to him attacking me at some point? At least that is the theme I'm picking up on.

In fact preemptively attacking him would be your safest bet.

Yes. Pillaging roads outside of borders does not as far as I know.

Foodless BBQ:
The save game has gotten bloated, i can't open it from my laptop anymore, so unless you want to revert a whole bunch I won't be able to take my turns until the evenings or mornings.

It worked on mine last turn and hasn't increased all that much in size. How big is it now?

2.7MB, it loads on my desktop but not my Mac laptop. Same thing with Impurify

Are you sure Foodless hasn't increased in size? 2.7 crashes about half the time on my laptop. I can still run it, but it's getting into the danger zone.

I know that if it is bloated, it happened maybe 20 turns ago...

There was bloat from 1k to 2k way back on turn 23, and from 2k to 2.5 k on turn 45. It's now turn 57.

So, revert a ridiculous number of turns or call it a wash? We won't be able to play for long as it is. Only a matter of time before it starts crashing on all computers. Let's take a vote.

I vote to stake deadbuffalo.

Not necessarily, Impurify has been going at 2.7MB for 25+ turns. It even started shrinking at one point, and might continue to do so. I say keep playing, I'm just upset because the game will go slower in terms of turns per day.

deadbuffalo has violated Persian law by staging a coup in Jerusalem overthrowing the peacefully en-stated dictator with what can only be assumed is a hardliner Cult of Set theocrat who has now joined the war against our (mostly) Taoist brothers-in-faith the Byzantines.

Let me just admit that I have gained a newfound love for citadels in these games - I never considered using them offensively like this, I'm that bad a player.


... of course this one is purely for defense. After all, I was attacked through that mountain pass. It's my Golan Heights... except it's a pass.
