In my opinion, some of the scariest parts of the game are the ones where Naho goes all walleyed. Maybe because of that weird echo-thing they do with her voice, IDK.

UGH so my psp decided to be a DICK and when I turned it on it had me set the time. My quicksave for where I was at got nuked, though thankfully my save files are all there. Hopefully it won't take me too long to get back to where I was in the game. I'll try to update tonight or tomorrow.

I was spoiled on line a while back to the info that Yoshiki is ok after that. But it doesn't make that wave fo relief to actually see him, and hear him bitch at Ayumi like everything's normal any less. Damn it's nice to see his beautiful face.

Hey, I don't EVER want to hear Morishige or Kizami getting their rocks off over the suffering and death of others. Lisening to the actual deaths isn't so bad. What did I just write?

I highly recommend doing so. The second season is based off the "answer" arcs from the VN so the series really isn't complete without them.

Oh god, Morishige is just so...so disturbing. I mean...bloody hell he seriously sounds like he's doing something inappropriate like EVERY SINGLE TIME. And even when he's actually being nice to Yuka, he still sounds like he's trying to lure her to a van with some candy.

Freaking Yuuya just goes from Sexy to Psycho like nobody's business and god is it frightening. He seems like the kind of guy that would suddenly strangle you in bed :/

Seconding the recommendation of season 2 of Higurashi. :D As it covers at least the basics of the 'answer' arcs from the VN it probably helps (somewhat) in tying things up.

I try not to play it in the dark seeing as I can barely handle the game as is, but even so when I was playing chapter 2.. Ayumi's face in the bathroom mirror... euhhhhh ><"

It was originally a VN before it was an anime. It's actually not too hard to find.

I want for an official translation of the PSP version of Umineko to come out though, I would play that so hard.

So this happened in IRC

The VN also got a PS2 and DS port too, as far as I know. I think it also got released for mobile applications/the iPhone recently, too. (Can't remember whether it ever got ported to the PSP?).

The PS2 version actually had an extra arc, I think.

Yeah, the PS2 version had three original chapters (one of which was Miotsukushi-hen; I can't remember the other ones), and the DS port had four, I think. The DS original ones weren't as closely related to the main story, though.

With my recently-acquired PSP I keep wondering if I should get this game or not. But I am terrible with horror games when I'm the one actually playing them.

relatedly mangagamer is trying to get it greenlit for steam, but it's kinda a hard sell... the average Greenlight audience is not kind to anime/VNs and the original Higurashi is a niche product even for VN fans, having no choices and ropey art.
