Fuck it, you know what batteries are. But back in my day we used the same batteries in our gameboys that we did in our flashlights.

    So to recap:

Captain Hammer Zombie was a pretty cool and stand up dude
    Suddenly MENTAL ILLNESS
Starts to lose his shit like Alzheimer's on crack
Kidnaps and Murders 3 innocent children

    ...Seems legit.
  10. YonYonYon Magister Mundi Elyscape

Shinozaki Sachiko... I bet, she's the twisted freak who forced Captain Hammer McZombie to do all these things. At least that dangerous paper charm is named after her.

You know, this is the thing that's freaked me out on the most profound level so far, in this game. Prof. Hammertime was a sweet, intelligent person who loved children and teaching. Then something turned him INSIDE OUT until he was a bumbling mess of homocidal mindfuck.

And all I can sort out about it is, several articles imply his dad was secretly sinister, and the stupid weaping dolls just sort of APPEARED in his posession around the time he went all batshit.

Also, the survivor's name is Shinozaki? Isn't that Ayumi's name? Has this come up before?

WHO KEEPS THAT TEACHER IN THE SCHOOL. I mean, what? If people knew he had a mental illness that was causing him to slowly degrade and possibly be violent, wouldn't someone have said "Hmmm, maybe we should get this guy checked out, see if he might SNAP AND KILL PEOPLE." And if people didn't know, wouldn't the freaking wailing during lectures been some sort of evidence that things weren't a-okay?

Those must have been really lenient student evaluations, is what I'm saying.

Don't forget that Asians tend to have a smaller pool of surnames than say...Amurrcans. Like how basically ever Vietnamese person is Nguyen. Or how there's pretty much only 5 Korean surnames and the rest don't matter because they're basically low class. Etc. There's a bunch of really common Japanese last names too, like Tanaka and Yamamoto. Shinozaki itself isn't that uncommon of a family name either (and for that matter, neither is Shinohara, which is Seiko's family name).

Really the only names in this game that I haven't really heard before in my weaboo wanderings are Kizami, Yanagihori (which sounds SO uptight) and Morishige.

And to give a serious response to this, just because someone is suffering from a mental illness does not mean that they will go postal. That's actually a mildly offensive blanket statement. As for why he was kept around, he was a kind person before shit hit the fan, and Japan (and many other parts of asia) is all about the Status Quo. Especially with school and school image. As he showed no outward signs of aggression, they can't really go "Well he might be a murderer."

The whole "Degrading to a childlike state" thing is honestly closer to a neurological disease, IE a physiological one, not a psychological one (therefore, not really a mental one) hence my reference to Alzheimer's. I mean, just because your grandma starts to go senile doesn't mean she's gonna start murdering the local preschool.

Also what student evaluations? This was a freaking elementary school.
  25. Jacquelle Hatoful Pigeon

...I'm sorry. That wasn't meant to be offensive at all, nor was it meant to be a blanket statement. I'm very, very sorry if it came across that way, because it wasn't meant to be that way at all. The way the paper described it, with "behavior degrading in class" and "going to basic instincts" and wailing during lectures made it sound like it was an obviously violent condition, not something similar to Alzheimer's. That's where the "snap and kill people" comment came from and why I assumed that it was more psychological than neurological. I missed the part about going to a "child like" state, and assumes the signs of what he would eventually do were more obvious; by "degrade" I thought it meant "become more animalistic and violent". The explanation about the status-quo makes sense.

Again, I'm really, really sorry if it was offensive. I certainly don't believe that all people with mental illness are on the verge of going postal, I just misinterpreted the paper and the actions involved and couldn't understand why no one seemed to notice.

Nonono, I refuse to believe in a game where you have control of the names and circumstances that two major characters just HAPPEN to have the same last name. We'll see.

Don't worry, I didn't take personal offense to it. Sorry if I was over srs in my post. I'm actually just really analytically about a lot of stuff. I hope my explanation made sense.

Also I blame my husband because he and I have been watching Bones lately on netflix and Dr. Brennan is just so Science Moe.

On another note, still no word from XSeed about when BoS comes out, but I'm rushing to finish up this LP before it comes out so I can start it right away. I really really wanna play it on my Vita because of the nicer screen, and apparently it has an ingame screenshot function, so hopefully, I shouldn't need to use my PSP for it.

I actually have screenshots for up to the end of Chapter 4, I just have to sort through them all (there are a lot, I have to remove the ones that are dupes or irrelevant, and remove a TON of ellipses only frames). Hopefully Chapter 5 won't take me too long to plow through. IIRC Chapter 4 was the longest of all of them, mostly because it has some dumb fetch quests in it, along with a lot of reading and shit, mostly from Kou Kibiki's article (Incidentally, Kibiki and Kizami have the same Seiyuu. The same dude also voices a really cool character in one of the Extra chapters. Fun Fact: He's Kyon from Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu and also Joseph Jostar in the new Jojo's Bizarre Adventure game. Here is his Wikipedia page).

EDIT: quote from one of the guys from XSeed on their forums:

    He's also Gintoki from Gintama!

Also, I completely forgot that they were releasing Book of Shadows in English too. Will be looking forward to that. :D
  29. videetcredere Already Beat BF's New Expansion

He's also the voice of Ryutaro in Love Revo, the main male character in Chobits, and... You know what I'm shutting up now.
  30. Tewi Despondent Fancybear

He's also Sakurai Ruka from TMGS3.

It's hard to believe it given that he did Kyon/Gintoki, but that's what you get from an awesome seiyuu.

Also, those sprites in that Corpse Party 2 video remind me of Animal Crossing for some bizarre reason. Maybe it's the big heads.
  32. gegi Magister Mundi Elyscape

I had a teacher who developed a clearly-terminal medical condition which had some mental effects as well. Nobody wanted to fire him, so the school hired a helper to sit in on his classes and try to helpfully nudge things the right way when his mind wandered or he couldn't remember the answers to questions.

It's understandable, because you don't want to just ditch someone who's put in years of good service, especially since telling them "Sorry, you're useless now" may make them die much faster of depression, but it was awkward for us as students because he became so unreliable and weird (and mean - not dangerous, just snappish. Again, pretty understandable, terminal medical condition does not leave you in a good mood, but scary for your class.). I did really badly in that class.

This was in the US. Just throwing that in there.

I've seriously had teachers who couldn't keep to their class syllabus and would just ramble on about everything else. It probably didn't even seem strange at first for Mr.Time. They probably thought it was a phase or some quirk until it started getting worse.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. There is no such thing as coincidence in fiction. Now, mind, I haven't actually played to the end of the game, so this is all just guessing on my part, but I am suspicious.
