Speaking of Satoshi, I just found this interesting and wanted to note it. While Kizami refers to himself with "boku," Satoshi uses "ore" which is the manlier pronoun. Boku has an implication of being slightly less aggressive, which is hilarious considering that Kizami is not only fucking insane, but also the tallest character in the game, he's actually taller than Yoshikazu.

You know what? Fuck you Ayumi. We all know you are going back for Satoshi only. You didn't need step all over Broshiki's feelings especially after all of the shit he went though. Enjoy never coming home.

I find stuff like this facinating, because you can really tell what different cultures seem to value more as a majority. Considering Seiko and Yoshiki are probably the most direct and "brashest" or American of all the characters XD Ayumi on the other hand feels very Japanese in the way she is going "WE MUST SAVE EVERYONE AND NOT JUST THE SINGLE ME" *strokes imaginary beard*

How many times have you used 'Mochida' as opposed to 'everyone' or 'the others'? I can accept you wanting to go back and try to help the others -- fuck, in a way I find that kind of "no man left behind" admirable. But trying to claim that you're not just doing it for Satoshi? I like Yoshiki. I've wondered since his return whether he's not secretly a brain hemorrhage waiting to go off. I too would not want to die back there.

But I can't get caught up in this anti-Ayumi whirlwind.

Ayumi has several flaws, including being self-absorbed. But she just relived another person's death. She of all the students knows best what she faces upon returning to the other realm -- and she's willing to return there alone. From the moment her feet settle upon those unsteady floorboards, she may face an inevitable death. Still, she's willing to take the risk.

Call her naive. Call her selfish. She's likely a bit of both. But she's also quite brave -- or is that foolhardy? -- to return to Heavenly Host.

I can appreciate her being brave enough to go back while still think she's kind of a bitch for how she handles it. Yoshiki's response of 'I don't want to go back there and die then spend all of eternity reliving my suffering over and over until it drives me insane' is pretty standard for a high school student. Or really any human being. And she has been repeatedly saying 'Mochida', not 'everyone'. Then she turns around and calls him a pussy for NOT WANTING TO DIE. Class and tact, girl.

I don't like Ayumi either, mostly because she's so damn selfish. A lot of people hate her for not returning Yoshiki's feelings and "friendzoning" him, but that also goes with our society's view of how just because a guy likes a girl that she has to return his feelings otherwise she's a bitch. Which isn't true at all, she can't help not liking him back. I just have an issue with how she doesn't seem to really care about anyone else other than Satoshi, considering what she'd willingly do to them.

I don't like Satoshi either, because it seems like everyone loves him for no good reason. The game sets up to show that he's apparently cowardly, which would make him an interesting character, but then he appears to be the most indifferent person about the whole situation and doesn't seem scared one bit. And I mean, he really doesn't seem scared or worried or anything, rather than just pretending to be strong for his friends and sister. I know they were going for the latter, but they didn't pull that off too well so he just comes off as bland and overly perfect (especially considering how all the other characters are extremely flawed, which makes them interesting)

I actually spent two years with a boy and a girl who had the same last name during Elementary; it was always funny watching the two of them trying to tell people they weren't related.

Even worse was that someone else in school (before I encountered the two stated above) who had the EXACT SAME FIRST AND LAST NAME as I did. We never ended up actually meeting each other, but I always got weird looks when they were called/announced over the intercom/speaker and I never responded too them (because the distinction was our middle name, which none of the other kids knew).

You know it's a really well done game though when it can spark debates like this about characters. Whether you hate them or you like them you are responding to them and trying to figure out what they are doing and why.

Just the idea of getting jollies off something that was alive is highly offensive. It's not his reaction to Mayu that's bugging people, or even potential murders resulting from that. It's his fettish that irks people.

My interpretation was always that people are upset not because 'it's a guy confessing, she should love him.' Not even a little fucking bit. I'm frustrated, and I think other people are, because we like and identify mroe with Yoshiki than Ayumi, and therefore, we want want him to be happy, even if it's with Ayumi. So when she chews him up, it's like somebody breaking your brother/best friend/bro's heart. It leaves a bad taste in your mouth about the girl. Especially considering how much Yoshiki's gone through trying to tolerate her selfish, Satoshi-obessing, stupid ass! Argh! She's so frustrating.

Before we bash her too much, remember that Ayumi (well, everybody, but espishily her) has gone through lifetimes of horrifying stress in the last few hours. She's been possesed several times, inadvertently caused the death of a friend, nearly made to commit suicide, had to listen to a creepy doll, and relived the psychological and physical torture of a young girl. AND SHE'S WILLING TO RETURN AND RISK BEING STUCK THERE TO SAVE OTHERS MOMENTS AFTER FEELING HER EYE BEING TURNED TO SOUP. Yes, Satoshi seems foremost in her mind, but she does want to save the others and is probably trying to use the adrenaline pumping through her veins to fuel her forward into the breach before she turns into a gibbering mass.

Also I would like to mention that it was a dick move of Yoshiki for not going with her again (but hoping for a last minute rescue), and yes he confessed, and yes she said some very hurtful words, but we have to remember that they are stressed as hell, and that Yoshiki was shown as kind of indifferent outside of this situation and at the last moment he IS ditching his friends for his life, which would be the sensible reason in most cases, except the premise of the game is based around friendship and staying together in the goods and the bads and whatnot.
Also-also: didn't the ghost kids mention that when they were finally free from the curse the nexus would break and everyone gets free, but now this one says that they're gonna be stuck forever? I'm getting suspicious about that.

I would tell you guys why I dislike Ayumi, but a lot of it is a spoiler.

Because they weren't free from the curse. Sachiko never repented. Also the curse has gotten worse due to the hundreds upon hundreds of tortured souls trapped there. This is no longer about Ryou, Yuki and Tokiko. It's about everyone who died. And because they almost always go bad, it keeps getting worse.

And that's what makes the curse so horrible.

Oh yeah... I forgot about that, also my judgement on Yoshiki and Ayumi is solely based of what I've seen so far, but I guess things will go for the worse again.
