If anyone here, Christian or otherwise, is surprised by Adree they deserve whatever happens to them. Other than that, I would say that assessment is spot-on.
To be fair, if the first and only thread I looked at in a forum trashed me as thoroughly as we've trashed Tom, I'd probably feel similarly.
People who can't get along with Tom there get banned and show up here. People who can't get along with anyone here get banned and show up there. And we're supposed to be the trash bin? That does sound exactly like something Tom would think.
One thing I guess I'm missing on QT3 is the tongue in cheek comment Lum made about certain QT3'rs claiming BF is " a wretched hive of scum and Japanese visual novels with no moderation whatsoever and where Adree is allowed to roam free to consume surprised Christians". I'm not saying no one on QT3 has posted things about BF, I'm just saying I've never actually seen those posts. I tend to stay out of most gaming threads there, maybe that's where stuff like that happens. I can only speak for myself, but I really miss a LOT of the people that quit on QT3, and the majority of people that were truly banned. I hated watching some of you ask Tom to close your account there, and I really really got pissed at the time when some of you decided to go out in a blaze of glory so Tom was forced to close your account. There is no doubt that the QT3 forums aren't as good without most of the people here that either chose to leave or were forced to leave. I understand why you guys keep picking at that scab sometimes, I really do. It just sort of bums me out when a thread about Tom/QT3 reaches critical mass.
Now, now. Clearly SOME of us forced him to ban himself from his own forums. Otherwise it would be an absurdly petulant action on his part.
Right after I submitted my post I regretted that choice of words. He didn't "HAVE" to do anything, I agree. But some people were jabbing him with verbal sticks, so I don't know a better way to phrase why he did it. I really don't want to get into that horrible argument again, I'll just repeat that I miss a lot of you guys over there and enjoy reading your posts here.
When he asked me if I wanted my account closed, I forced him to do it against his will by answering "no, I think I won't post much anymore but I would like to let people know when I start LPing the full version of Hatoful Boyfriend." It was tragic, really.
For me, it was the combo of Lizard King and Angie Gallant that made me realize that QT3 was no longer a place that I wanted to hang out. LK, even when I disagree with him, is almost always thoughtful, intelligent, and precise in his communications and discussions. And of course, Angie brings the awesome crazy that brings the eyes. Deciding not to keep that kind of quality contribution just struck me as hopelessly foolish, short-sighted, and self-absorbed.
I take offense at the choice of words because it's part of Tom's spin of the situation, in which he tried valiantly to get us to see the error of our ways and it was with utmost regret that he closed our accounts because we forced him to. It's bullshit. And while he was spouting these lies and half-truths about what supposedly went on in PM's with his moderation those of us he had banned couldn't say anything to refute him because, well, we were banned. The crowning moment being when he asked Angie if she wanted to be banned, Angie responded "no", and Tom banned her anyway, after which he publicly stated that Angie chose to leave of her own volition. As for me, I never had a PM conversation with Tom that I didn't initiate myself. I'm sorry if I sound angry at you robsam, I'm not, I just hate the thought of Tom's bullshit going unanswered because it takes me back to when I sat and watched him lie his ass off in public to an audience I couldn't reach at the time.
It's okay Kalle, I sometimes forget the stories (like Angie's) about how stuff like that went down. I mainly remember the terrible few days when it was all falling apart over there that I could read in real time.
Matt Gallant went full retard with the sockpuppets and everything else over there. I'd have IP-banned him too. Pretty much everything else that Tom did during the whole dramasplosion was ridiculous, but Matt was being a total dick. I can see where he was coming from -- it's not like Matt fired the first shot or anything, not by any means. Nonetheless, total dick.

There's a certain amount of cognitive dissonance; BF is an unmoderated wasteland in which anything goes. Qt3, by implication, is not. Yet Vet was banned from BF and roams free in Qt3. I wonder what that could mean? Oh well, best not to think about it. There have been others like that, but I don't recall where and I'm not going to go looking.

No, he was quoting Triggercut who is well liked by both communities. It seems a very appropriate example.
Because according to Triggercut, this is an "almost anything goes frontier", whereas QT3 is, presumably, a much more pleasant place to post.
I think he's making fun of the QT3 hivemind assertion that BF is so "anything goes," but perhaps he can clarify. I thought triggercut liked this place just fine.
Qt3 has 100% more Dawn Falcons, Vetarniases and Sinijs than here. So the idea that BF somehow gets all the refuse that Qt3 doesn't want is demonstrably false.
All this QT3 bashing just makes me like BF less. You guys seriously need to move on. Both forums have their merits and downsides, this place is hardly perfect as evidenced by the stuff with Gus recently.
Then filter out the Drama Llama forum from the new posts feed. Assuming the entire character of a forum from one or two threads is silly. You may as well assume everyone here likes to play Visual Novels. You're not wrong that people need to let it go, but people are people, and reminiscing over past grievances is part of human nature.
As long as Tom Chick or Brad Wardell arent being discussed you wont see much talk about the other forum. But if either of them are being discussed this strange obsession comes over some people and we get massive threads on how horrible they are.
That strange obsession was Tom banning dozens of people who had literally done nothing wrong. If you think people will just drop it less than a year later then you don't know much about human nature.
Come on, this could become one of the great rivalries! Yankees/Red Sox, Michigan/Notre Dame, Gary's/Cheers and QT3/Broken Forum. Of course, it's complicated by the fact that no-one at QT3 gives much of a shit and Broken Forum comes off like an obsessed, stalkery ex-girlfriend.
It's funny how old QT3-posters with a low digit post count here suddenly appear in this thread on page 19... and yet we're stalkery and obsessed.
