More than several years--for some of us, Qt3 had been our regular hangout for a decade. The idea that everyone is just supposed to shrug and never speak of it again seems weird to me. Especially when the speaking takes place in a very tiny number of easily avoidable threads. When folks pop into threads like this to complain about all the Qt3 talk, I have to wonder: why are you reading the "DAMN YOU CHICK" thread in the first place? 99.99% of BrokenForum threads are 100% Qt3 talk-free, but this one obviously isn't. Bit it was the raison d'être for this place. Lum revived this forum specifically to serve as a refugee camp for the Qt3 exodus. I don't see why we should pretend otherwise. That said, I do agree that BrokenForum has grown to be much more than that. But again, it's not like the forum is filled with kvetching about Qt3--it's all limited to a couple of designated threads while the vast majority of the forum just gets on getting on. Seems about right to me.

DAoC was a mitigating factor in my divorce, but I later met my now SO while playing it, so it all worked out.

Man, the only EQ guild get-together I ever went to involved like three ruined relationships, one attempted rape and my best friend selling me out twice, first for some Kelethin strange and then later to an angry ex-husband. I'm not impressed by your DAoC stories, but this does not mean I would ever want to be involved in them. Eeeeeffff guilds. This is why when I joined a guild in WoW I looked for one where DKP ruled all and no one was friends or interested in getting to know one another. They were reasonably successful with zero drama. It was refreshing.
I was trying to find this thread again and I went to the obvious place, the MMO forum. Nope. Tried PC games. Hmm. Drama Llama? Wrong again. Well, at least I can click back on this thread and figure it out. Oh.
We were crippled mostly by the fact that we had to work everything out outrselves and we had little to no support from Mythic (at least for DAoC, things were better during the WAR beta). Our TOA documentation for example was one of the online player guides that we'd copied wholesale and annotated with monster indices, and database references so that we could unstick broken encounters. Our GM handbook was written by giving one of the QA guys a sandbox and a fully flagged account and telling him to go wild with guessing at GM commands and syntax. Every time we discovered something new we had to forward what we'd done to him so that he could add it to the documentation. My main was Chretien, Avalonian Paladin and eventual guildmaster of the Order of the Knights Templar on Prydwen. I played a bit with PW on Mid/Excal because I was friends with Svartmetall (at one time we shared a house together).

Man, I have no idea who Zen is. I can't even say I remember seeing a post by them. But 76 posts and only 1 like? It's a wonder it took this long.
Some day I'm going to stop being surprised by how very thinskinned people can be when shilling for things on the internet. I keep thinking that "must have thicker skin than an insensate brick and be more even-tempered than the Buddha" would be a job requirement for any attempted viral marketing at all.
At the risk of getting a temp-ban myself, has Brett been up to something nastier (other than his usual fairly lame attempts at flaming) than what I'm seeing here? Bill calls brett an asshole, brett calls Bill a fool, and brett gets banned? And can he be permabanned for just being infuriatingly stupid? Is that a thing?
