I think Pogo just outed himself as a guy that doesn't read the entirety of threads.
  3. Pogo Hard Cider Gal

Yeah sorry, seeing any image macros of cats makes me instinctively scroll past a couple posts.

I'll summarize that thread with a multi-frame Graphics Interchange Format image:

I'm fairly certain I have met sinij in person and gotten drunk with him and he was exactly as he presents himself. Please do not speculate further on persons who are banned here and cannot contribute.

All our heads will explode the day we log in to find you've banned yourself and opened a portal to Dawn Falcon's hell dimension, where the Leper Colony awaits the end of the world.

Nope. I think we're just noticing it more.

It is. Feedback loop, I guess. Also it's getting discussed wayyy more than 2 years ago.
  18. JoshV Keeper of the Elemental Materials

Heh, Chrome doesn't want me to visit qt3, warning me about malware.

It's probably from a banner ad. I'm glad we don't have banner ads.
  20. Drastic Beardy Magnificence

    Chrome just brui...no, nevermind.
Probably a mix of columns A and B, I think. Feedback loops play into it, for sure--BF as a general averaged community has a much more accepting and welcoming position (just try to imagine Qt3 ever, even before peak wackiness, supporting something like The Rainbow Connection subforum. Go ahead, try! Whenever I try, if you ran an EKG of my brain's activity into a speaker, the speaker would play "HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. No." I don't know what combination of alpha and beta waves cause that to happen, but it's scientifically true). But that in turn amplifies the degree to which you'll notice the more awful examples.

I don't care much about TC and Qt3 one way or another, but I will share this: Over at Qt3, there was a private subforum for women. Just before the diaspora, it stopped working. I PM'd Tom because I was the admin, and he told me he'd shut down the private forums because he didn't like what some of them were being used for. Ours was being used for such nefarious purposes as providing me with moral support as I was getting ready for a breast biopsy (and my subsequent diagnosis and treatment) and sharing horror stories about our hormones and ladyparts, discussions we never could have had in the open over there because Rimbo. Good thing TC shut that shit DOWN.

I now return to my previous policy of not caring what goes on over there any more.

Not exactly the thread for it, but my wife had to have a lumpectomy, scary times, though it was benign in the end. Kind of sad that you couldn't share about that there.

Yeah I had no idea there were private forums on qt3. Hilariously, shutting down all private forums because he probably had an issue with one is vintage Chick.
  26. Shadarr Keeper of the Elemental Materials

It's cool that Tom chased away all the women and kept Rimbo.

I am not being sarcastic at all. We totally won that round.
  27. Hanzii Magister Mundi Elyscape

    Some of them...
What were the other secret forums? And what nefarious anti-Tom shenanigans were going on in secret forums, that I suppose Tom set up and decided who could participate in?
  28. Lum Fatbird

There are no secret forums here. There is an invite-only forum but it's not a secret.
  29. Lum Fatbird

I also don't think there needs to be a woman-only forum because frankly counting the LP forum I'm pretty sure us Y-chromosomed folk are outnumbered.

Yeah, I get the sense that there's not the feeling that there's a need for a private women-only subforum here. There was over there.

On Qt3, ElGuapo once went full Guapo when a bunch of women told him he was an asshole for that story he once told of convincing a woman he was a professional photographer all for the purposes of fucking her (he's so cool!!!!), and he pointed out how fat all the women on Qt3 were so obviously he didn't need to hear their opinions. Except--he name dropped either Angie or Siren, I forget who he was trying to impress--except that one woman because she was cute.

So yeah. On Qt3 there was definitely a need for women to have a safe place where they could post the word "breasts" without certain parties jumping in to ask you to flash them.

If I remember, there was a cool Foodies sub-forum where awesome low-calorie yet tasty dessert and sandwich recipes could be found, but everyone stopped posting there after a nasty spat over the health benefits of the Epic Meal Time bacon-ice-cream diet. There was also the Secretly Canadian forum (a quiet haven for those who could no longer deny their innate Canucknicity, and you wouldn't believe who some of those folks were), which shared a lot of members with the Nintendo Cannabis Elite subforum, which started out as the best thing ever, but the less said about the tragic events that transpired there the better. The tears are still too fresh. Of course there was also the Legion of the Banned forum, where the gently touched faced off in inhumane bouts of vicious GIF battles to determine who would be allowed to return to terrorize the rest of Qt3. I bet that's the one that caused all the problems. I'm sure there's a few more I've forgotten about too.
  37. Jason McCullough Keeper of the Elemental Materials

Oh god, there was such depths to the drama. I had no idea.

  40. madkevin Despondent Fancybear

I can't even tell if Klamiti's post is a joke or not.

I realize I've had my problems with Rimbo over the years - he's just one of those online dudes who really gets under my skin - but he crossed the line so severely a couple of years ago that it really started to sour me on Qt3 as a whole.
