4:11 shows his gear: Sack, no shirt, Reinforced Club, Hollow Soldier Shield, Tattered Cloth Manchette, Heavy Boots, and of course Pyromancy Flame.
Balder Shield, and he swaps in either crest shield as needed. He has a lightning/fire hand axe as well as lit/fire r club, and that's his primary arsenal, and he swaps in a light crossbow or short bow for lures and ranged kills. Also the ring of FaP is always on, he says for the stamina since the vit doesn't really matter.
I fell down into the basilisks again. I accept I am bad at the game, and should feel bad about it. Just picked up Greater soul Arrow and Greater Heavy Soul arrow. And, uh, Aural Whatsit because why not. Looks like Gap dragon tomorrow evening.
Aural Whatsit worked amazingly well against Havel on my sorcerer. However, on my Zwei wielder, the Zwei worked amazingly well against Havel. o_O I refuse to believe I'm really that much better the second time around, but he just rolled over. Felt like his swings were hugely predictable, it was easy to stay out of their range, and well the Zwei's ludicrous range made it trivial to follow-up every time. On to Hydra.
That SL1 NG+7 guy doing the tomb of the giants...I think I'm pretty good at that level, given that I get through it killing only the silver knight, and that I spent a fair amount of time successfully hunting other players there. But today I learned there's a second bonfire in the Tomb. Son of a bitch.
I'm gonna go ahead and say that sorceries are overpowered in PvP. I already oneshot sinners easily with crystal spells on my sorcerer Darkmoon character, but dark sorceries from Oolacile, using a Tin Crystalisation Catalyst, Crown of Dusk and the Bellowing Dragoncrest Ring are just crazy.
Hydra rolled over too, but I had its number the first time around. Also lols at it one-shotting some of the golems trying to get me. :D Now let's see if I can get through the Forest from the other side without dying. Huh! I did. Fun fight with the three cats. Dang. I assumed the Artorias door was openable from this side. Boo! Hm. Well, I'll explore this while I'm in the covenant, grab what needs to be grabbed, and homebone out. Blight Town next.
In general I don't care for fights where the opponent focuses on magic, as I tend to run, equip Avelyn, and then mess them up while they try to figure out why pursuershasn't triggered yet. Sometimes you gamble and lose, but it's very different from the melee-intensive fights I prefer. But undeniably if you are PvPing you need to plan for pursuers all of the time or die for it, as dodging that is significantly more difficult than homing spheres and it can be impossible with lag, especially if the opponent blasts his own pursuers away by using the silver locket.
Wow, I'm kind of surprised that you didn't know about it. I've used it to stage my Nito runs since the first one, pretty much. It is kind of weirdly placed though, because you don't strictly speaking need to use it or anything (obviously), and it's a little out of the way. Anyway, congrats on learning something you didn't know about the game. That's awesome every time it happens.
I have to admire that. I knew about the second bonfire, but only because I looked at the map in the wikie.
Wrapped up Lost Izalith last night. I am doing the Sieg* of Catarina quests to the end for the first time, so I got that going on. Bed of Chaos continues to be my least favorite boss, tutorial video or not. I also cleared out New Londo. With my occult gargoyle halberd I could one shot the ghosts and the dark wraiths took 2, sometimes 3 swipes depending. I think that was the first time running that I felt so at ease. For the 4 Kings I used magic barrier and got up close and personal with them. Magic barrier worked pretty awesome. My halberd was less awesome. You need DPS, but this wasn't bringing it. I had to 2H-ed it and R2-ed it to get some decent damage. I got tag teamed by the first two as a result but that barrier saved my bacon. When the 4th one came by it one shot me because I was running up to it in 2H and had no barrier. Nuts. I'm pretty sure I could have finished the fight with it, but I decide to run down to Vamos and upgrade my fire bastard sword. I got the ember and the slab, so why not? Got it up to +10 and took it back to the kings and rolled them. I had enough time between them to reset estus and barrier (it would wear off by the time I finished one of them) and got the final lord soul. Woo! So I decide to go to the Asylum and die to the Stray Demon, twice, leaving about 40k souls on the floor because I was certain I would win the next time. Dark Souls.
I don't know if it was noted or not, but ENB received some official recognition of his efforts when the DS FB page linked to him.
That's cool. He deserves it, that's for sure. A lot of great stuff has come out of the Dark Souls community but none of it--no, not even DSFix--is as great as what ENB has done with the game's lore.
Speaking of that, is there a quick way to read/watch/access all that stuff? I know he has a youtube channel, but there's just so much there.
Question about Dusk. Man. I can't imagine the SG with my Zwei right now. That's gonna have to wait :P I am very curious how Queelag will play out with this thing and my medium mobility.
Not a hundred percent sure but I think she sticks around until you kill the new golem. Sometimes you just need to reload to make her show back up.
I am sad. My currently most-fun playthrough is bugged out. I rang the second bell, saw the cutscene, but Frampt never showed up and Sens is still closed. I've since trekked back down to the bell and the lever won't be pulled.
I forgot to mention this. . . Back when I obtained the drake sword, I also got 10k souls because Hellkite died. Exactly how did that happen? I shot him enough with a short bow (not reinforced) and woodon arrows to take off the tail. So how did he die?
So, last night I tried the Capra demon with my sorceror. I've never had trouble with him with as melee character, but man did I get smoked this time. He'd tear right through my shield and one-shot me ass soon as I got in the room. So new plan is to go to the garden to get better armor (maybe elite knight set?) and put some levels into endurance and vitality. Hopefully that will help some.
I have never seen that happen. In my experience after the tail is shot off he rages, flaps around a bit, and comes right back. Heck, if you leave and come back even his tail will have regenerated. Maybe you get 10k souls for chopping the tail off?
The gate to the bonfire under him - not the one on the bridge, the one from the side - opened and I don't recall having done anything to open it. And he was defintely, 100%, not perched up there anymore because I picked up everything on the bridge. Started a second playthrough for some variety and got the drake sword but he did not die.
This is the important bit. Sometimes, in his rage and flapping about, the Hellkite drake will simply take a wrong step, hit a spot that's slightly glitched, and fall through the world to its death. It's happened to me a couple of times. Made me go "Wtf?" both times.
And that only opens if you around or under him and pull the lever that's right there next to that bonfire. Sounds like you ran into some seriously glitchtastic behavior o_O
I have never killed the hellkite dragon. It's the one main thing I have not done in Dark Souls that I can think of.
Yeah, same here. I've seen videos that make it look easy (at least in NG) and I've tried it a number of times but I've never gotten it done.
Hey, I remember pulling that lever now. And this was way before I did the gargoyles. Did I hit him in the Smaug weakspot on his tail or something?
Huh. Well, the first time I played, there was nothing down there, but there was a 'need humanity' sign that was upvoted like 10 times. So I went human and came back and the golem was there. Every time I've played since, I go to do the golem and he's not there, so I go human and come back, and he is. So... yeah. edit: DARK SOULS edit edit: literally my last time there was only a couple weeks ago and the same thing happened. Maybe he's just never there after you kill the hydra.
It does not look easy ever so I just assumed that'll be one thing I won't do. Well, that and kill all the nice people (you monsters). I would like to kill the balldropping giant for being a dick but he respawns anyway so nah. I did kill Lautrec right out this time. Eff that guy and his creepy laugh. Hm. I think I'm still in the area so I'll research tonight.
A lot of times he appears if you just rest at the bonfire. That's probably what keeps triggering it in your case. DARK SOULS.
Anyone who's initiating laugh syllable beings with a hard consonant probably is thinking about cooking your liver while he coughs it up. I think I'm going to kill him in my second game.
