I've pretty much never made extensive use of pyromancy. I used Power Within for the first time ever for 4K with Slammo.
You should try it. I've used it as my main damage source for my current character and it's pretty impressive and a fun change of pace. Also I came within one tiny sliver of boss health of not even having a fourth king spawn, which I didn't even think was possible.
CheesyPoof I hope you learned by now that you can shortcut from firelink almost directly to 4K. after you enter new londo.
No no no, that's not the same at all or at least that's not how I read it. I thought you were just talking about the thing where you finish the fight before the fourth king is dead, which happens to me all the time. What I mean is dealing so much damage to the first three that the fourth never even spawns. If that's what happened to you that's awesome and you should have specified because that's way more unusual.
Sure. My sorcerer was about 6 months after I finished it with my first character and I had forgotten a fair amount of the game. Since they I've killed the kings a few times. Yea, the 4th never spawned at all, but I'm not sure how that is different than 'finishing the fight before the forth king is dead.' Does that mean the 4th king spawned, but the 3rd was still there and you over killed the 3rd to end the fight?
This was a godsend. You still have to kill a couple of ghosts and a couple of Darkwraiths (the way I was doing it, anyway), but that was no sweat.
No, I just mean you kill three of them, the fourth one shows up, you knock off about half of its life and then the fight ends with him still standing there because the overall boss health bar is depleted. Has that not happened to you?
No, that has happened to me. Last night, actually, if I wasn't clear. The overall boss meter was down to one tick, or so, and all I needed was to hit the 4th with anything to get that tick off. I used my last Pursuers because overkill is totally awesome.
All I know is that I'm still super smug that I beat the king this time. I think I'm going to do the DLC content next. Also, lore question- who is Sen, and why did he build that fortress?
Just the guy who designed and built the fortress. They wanted to have an obstacle course of sorts to ensure that only real worthy heroes could get into Anor Londo. You know, like in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
Well then. My adventures with my SL1 character continue! In this episode, our mighty pyromancer braved Anor Londo, and got past those fucking archers on the ledges. Keep in mind that for a SL1 pyromancer, I didn't have access to *anything* helpful. No Hidden Body, no bow, (and thus no poison arrows) no ring of fog. I didn't even have access to Greater Soul Arrow, which is one way that I can sometimes kill that bastard while on the walkway. Nope... just me, my trusty pyromancer flame, and my crippling fear of heights.
Finally, a human to help with Seath. His armor looks cool. We get into the fight, and Seath breaths crystal breath just as I go by. My shield goes up but the very right side of the field catches me and I take 95% dcamage. I then die before I can do anything. Re-unhollow, and the same guy's sign goes up. I summon him again. I fell off the first goddamn invisible walkway and died.
I found that fight basically impossible with my greatsword/faith user. All my weapons are slow and divine, and the gaps to attack him in were too short. I could have changed it up entirely, and used a faster, elemental damage weapon if I felt like warping out and building one up, but I just threw in the towel for the time being.
I discovered that you can be invaded in the tiny little tunnel leading up to the Sanctuary Guardian. I'll bet that Chaos Storm spammer feels real accomplished as a PvPer.
It does feel like it's in that class of boss that give their target almost no opportunity to retaliate. Presumably it becomes vastly easier if you have a summon, but there doesn't seem to be anybody else there.
Like other fast enemies, including in PvP, the Guardian rewards heavy weapon users if they know how to sprint-hit/roll-hit/etc and otherwise manage their proximity-to-impact timing to minimize the chance he'll back off or blast them. Of course, in this case the reward is simply "doesn't completely ruin your day", but that's a good reward. It's the run, pause, swing that gets you drilled, in my experience.
Yeah, that's how I managed to get him down 25% after like five minutes. It's rough when you're still only doing 50 damage a shot with your weapon. Divine/lightning resists are the worst.
Dark Souls T-Shirts: http://kotaku.com/5964471/are-you-hard-enough-to-wear-dark-souls-on-your-chest Only you can prevent forest invasions! :)
I've found that that fight really hinges on the specific thing you're hitting him with. He goes down laughably quickly to a BK Halberd for instance and he's not too tough with a fully upgraded pyro flame either.
On my sorceror, I never once got knocked off off the ledges in Sen's by the blades. Naturally, on my "fighter", I had it happend 3 times in 15 minutes this morning.
Runs hot and cold for me too. My first playthrough that was probably my favorite level because it was a fair and interesting challenge. Subsequent playthroughs it's either been dead easy or inexplicably frustrating.
I see the game's available on Amazon right now for the PS3 and 360 for only $16. Is it worth picking up for either console if you already own it on the PC?
Unless you have problems with the PC version (not having a controller counts!), people you specifically want to play it with in those console communities, or are just so obsessed you want another 1000 achievement points, I'd say no.
No it's a terrible game don't buy it. Edit: kidding! Buy it if you want to play it on your TV or, as LK said, if the PC version isn't working for you for some reason. Just be advised that some of what is in the PC version is DLC for the console versions which will run you an additional fifteen bucks.
I started a new faith character last night, just rolled into the church, killed the channeler there and the trident dropped for the first time ever. Wooooo!
Also how come the PC version still says VICTORY ACHIEVED when you kill a boss but the 360 version now says YOU DEFEATED?
Overcame the blades issue with the fighter, cleaned up sens and kill the iron golem, and proceeded to Anor Londo. Killed first gargoyle, got End to 40 and vit is not 14. Well, I didn't fully clean out sens; I just remembered I've never (on this or the sorcey) done anything about all the demon dudes down in the water. I should go farm that at some point. I also didn't grab the Eagle shield before coming here. I should be able to grab a Silver Knight shield once in here, though.
