I didn't ever get invaded. :( How it worked out in general was that the griefers complained about the counter-griefers even more and eventually everyone decided it was dumb.
In the Catacombs in a room right above the Bonewheel cavern (I think where the black knight drops down from - it also has two spots on the floor that give way and you can fall through), I saw this guy: He was invisible except for two eyes. None of the wikis mention him and I don't remember seeing him before. Is he always there?
What the heck? No, I don't think I've ever seen that before. I have now twice seen the weird polyp thing that shoots many projectiles, though. Once it was red in New Londo, and once was white or grey in the Kiln. I still have no idea what it was. I'm guessing a Gravelord covenant thing, but that was the only thing I've ever seen.
Vagrants. They show up randomly, it's speculated they're generated when someone loses a bloodstain full of a LOT of souls/humanity, and pop up in some random lucky person's world. If you kill a Vagrant, you get either a bunch of souls or a nice sum of humanity.
I have never encountered a vagrant, much to my chagrin. Or that weird ghost guy. Though - maybe just a bug? Too tall to be a skeleton, though... Did it do anything? Could you interact with it? edit: Yeah, it's an invisible skeleton, standing in the air. Apparently they're not that rare in the Catacombs.
If anyone reads this thread that doesn't already own this game, the PC version is currently available for $16 at GMG.
The fire club +5 makes short work of the Silver Knights in Anor Londo. I'm also loving poise so that I can quaff an estus while taking a hit only to have the estus register and nullify that hit. That said poise doesn't solve all, like dragonslayer arrows or the sentinels. Did the Law Firm a few times as a summon and went 1/3. Do not like that percentage. It seems the fire club does worse damage to Ornstein, but the wikie says he should be weak to fire. I dunno. I'm contemplating going back and making a few more weapon to try against them just to see how they do, maybe some stronger weapons that I'll 2h since I'm getting use to wearing the grass shield on my back. I also might want to go get the fire ember. I definitely am missing the cloranthy ring now that I'm wearing Havels (minus the main armor), the stamina regen penalty is noticeable.
Cooped Queelag a few times (almost done with Blight Town, just need to get out of here) and noticed that Quelana showed up. I know we had the discussion on what triggers her, and I can say that: - I've rescued and talked to Laurentius, but, - I haven't bought any pyromancies from him, - I haven't upgraded the pyro glove, - but! my int is 20 for sorceries. Ummm that's all I got, so I'm really not sure. I guess it's the INT, but uh, you don't actually need int for pyromancy, so what gives?
I'm not happy with the damage my 'little' elemental weapons were doing with the law firm, Ornstein in particular, so I wanted to get a large club. Go to blighttown, put on the gold ring and some soft humanity and get nothing. Well, a bunch of dung pies that I fed to Frampt, but not my club.I turned the zwei into a fire zwei and wanted the club to be a lightning club, but maybe post Law Firm I'll try some more when I can warp. At least I got the cloranthy ring and an bunch of green titanite while down there and upgraded my glove to ascended. Also got the large fire ember and upgraded my club to +7. Marginal improvements. Speaking of, had a bit of a noob summoner. No kindling and no reinforcement. I considered sending a message instructing them on this stuff, but I didn't know if it would be worth it. Nothing like the summoner drinking estus and it doesn't even come close to filling your bar. So it goes.
I've killed a fair number of barbarians with a fair amount of Item Find, and I haven't seen a Large Club. I did get a Pickaxe last night, though. Which I immediately upgraded!
In my current run I've killed about 10 barbarians with almost no Item Find and got a large club. Lucky me! Does it keep its poison damage if you make it fire or lightning?
I'm not sure from the post but just in case you have the wrong idea here: the ones that drop the Pickaxe are not the ones that drop the Large Club.
DO NOT MAKE IT FIRE OR LIGHTNING unless you have multiple in which case go nuts. But your best value out of a large club is going pure physical.
If you have the strength needed to use it, you have the strength needed to make normal better than lightning.
Oh I know; I wasn't farming or anything when I got the pickaxe. I was still happy; I'm not in love with the moveset (I think it's using the basic club moveset; it's rather short ranged and slow) but I am definitely ready to be a day laborer in Lordran!
My plan was to only 2h it. I'd use my fire reinforced club and other smaller for 1h and shield, but for some more oomph I'd put the grass crest shield on my back and then 2h it. For fire I have the Zwei (though I'm looking for other options on that front). I can't 1h either.
Man the Zwei's swing speed and the degree to which it drains my stamina is such a liability... But on the other hand I just cannot get enough of that R2 attack!
Once I got the strength to one-hand it (not realizing I didn't need 24 strength to even wield it with two) I haven't looked back! It's at +14 now for my guy and it's always a happy day when things like Silver Knights flop to the ground with that R2 hit.
I've got it at +5 right now (I'm still early) and even though I know I should use the Claymore as my daily driver (the moveset seems to involve less vulnerability and it doesn't drain my stamina in an instant), I just can't help myself.
Zwei is still probably my favorite weapon, mainly for that R2 attack. I have a +14 large club that outclasses it in every other way (and the lurching R2 attack there isn't bad) but I still kind of miss using the Zwei for its looks and stunlock potential. Maybe I'll take it lightning, just for fun.
No, they aren't. Physical weapons end up dealing a lot more damage in either PvP or PvE, because the same rules about defense apply. Elemental weapons are popular in both for builds with stats too low to take advantage of scaling weapons, but if you can one-hand the Large Club, it's already stronger normal than elemental because 28 strength is kind of a lot and it has really good scaling.
FYI believe the Large Club (and other weapons of its type) does break poise the same as an ultra greatsword like the Zweihander, so the stunlock potential is still there.
Yeah, but if it connects, the R2 attack with the Zwe seems to always stun (many) enemies by knocking them prone. With enough stamina you can chain two or even three of those together.
Ah, I believe that's a kind of special trait that I can't really speak to. FYI "stunlock" is usually used to refer to breaking someone or something's poise and then breaking it over and over again by continuing to attack them while they're stunned, until you run out of stamina.
So I'm overrating the ability to deal damage through a block? Maybe I'm just remembering the state of PvP a year or so ago when everyone stacked end and vit and used big flaming weapons or the moonlight greatsword.
Ah. I'm using it as a more general case of the same thing, I think. In gaming parlance I usually see "stunlock" or "getting stunlocked" refer to being able to do a move on someone that keeps them from being able to act, over and over again.
Yeah, that's what people still do who don't have good enough stats to use scaling weapons, although elemental ones have been nerfed since then so those builds aren't quite as prominent. But it's not a feature of elemental weapons being better at dealing damage than their physical counterparts, it's purely a function of not wanting to make the stat investment. If you had said you wanted to make a lightning Claymore or Zweihander, I'd say go for it. But given the minimum strength needed to use the Large Club and its excellent strength scaling, on that particular weapon there's no way to use it one-handed and not have normal be the optimal upgrade path.
Some guy on reddit created a mirror world mod to basically flip everything in the game. I have no idea if that's a good idea.
HOOOOOOLLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT I want to try it but it might break my psyche completely.
I feel this totally belongs here. I post: My wife brought home a 5lb slab of chocolate. Oh, right, the Painted World Mardi Gras head guys. I totally whacked them with my reinforced fire club and they don't toxify you. The new guys were right, Luke, the new guys were right.
