DD-WRT trouble... halp?

So I've got these routers, right, TP-Link WDR4300 v1.1. Which incidentally is a router that is supposedly supported by DD-WRT.

I've got two of them. One of them was set up before being flashed and is perfectly suitably acting as a router after being flashed with the r32461 trunk despite the fact that it has identical behavior to the other router and despite the fact that I didn't do a 30-30-30 before updating the firmware via the web bios, which apparently I was supposed to do.

The other router I flashed out of the box using the supposedly good directions. 30-30-30 it, update the firmware, 30-30-30 again.

Plugged straight into the router with my ethernet cable. The web GUI wasn't working. I telnet'd into the box and set the password so that I could use SSH, all good thus far, right?

Well, the web GUI still isn't up, and httpd doesn't apparently exist. I can't find it with grep! I can't find anything on the internet about how to deal with this, and the answer I got on the dd-wrt forums was "You clearly did something wrong, go have fun fixing it" and a link to the de-bricking page.

    Anyone got ideas?

Return it to the store, swap for a different one. Personally, I prefer Asus stuff for my DD-WRT fiddling these days. Buffalo makes some decent routers that ship with a custom DD-WRT version that is not half-bad either.
