Fuck you Laguerta and Angel sub-plot. You were stupid and pointless in season four, and now I'm four episodes into season five and you're still not showing any signs of belonging in this fucking show!
Spoiler Alert: I'm pretty sure that there isn't a single season of the show that manages to handle all of its characters with anything even approaching talent. LaGuerta comes as close as she ever has to being relevant to the show at all in the current season, and she's still basically on her own show.
You guys used to complain about Dokes, or however you spell that shit, but at least the guy was in the right plot thread!
The one aspect of all this kind of thing was the occasional shining moment of Dexter being completely baffled every time one of the erratically-orbiting side characters came to him for advice on their particular clumsily-written forced romantic subplot.
Good lord this season was a mixed bag. The first seven episodes are so are total turds, such that I stopped watching for a while. The last five are a huge improvement, primarily because the most irritating characters either mostly bugger off or change. It never quite lives up to its promise though, and it does seem to be a bit of a spiral where Dexter is almost randomly following his code, but I'm not sure if it's supposed to be him changing or shitty writing because he doesn't mention it. There was a particularly glaring murder of necessity which I would have expected something to come out of his mouth about, especially as similar circumstances caused him a huge moral quandary in season 2. Thankfully, season six was much better (though it still has the code problem), though I'm finding seven to be rather all over the place.
