I was kind of hoping for an "I'm married!" there, but I guess now the River Song loop/stream is done? This chart seems correct from what I can recall. So I guess it depends on whether this "Last Night" video (a DVD short) has happened yet or not: If it has, he's now a widower (again presumably).
I don't think it can have happened yet, since he's supposed to be using a new sonic screwdriver that he then gives her. I mean, it's obviously happened in the future, but not to this Doctor that we follow yet. P.S. He needs to fucking go get River from that computer already.
Yeah, the one thing that consistently bugs me about Moffat's run (and Who in general) is the often arbitrary distinction between what is and isn't changeable. Dude has a time machine. He has all the time in the world to cook up a fix for a lot of these things, "fixed point in time" or not. If you're going to be timey whimey in how you doom your protagonists, make sure they can't be saved by a plot device from Chrono Trigger or Bill and Ted (I'm looking at you, Angels Take Manhattan). CLONK "Gotta remember to fly the TARDIS to THAT EXACT SPOT and drop an anvil!" PS The Christmas special is great and the new companion is great. I just wish we could see more of the ensemble cast for companions... and throw in Nefertiti and big game hunter dude!
I HOPE SHE IS! Seriously, that's not at all the vibe that I got. She's pushy and aggressively curious and kind of a tease, which is not the same as being in love with the Doctor (whom she barely knows). I'll say this: I was prepared to be disappointed with the explanation behind Oswin's reappearance, and then they went and killed her AGAIN, and now I'm intrigued.
Eh, at this point I'd settle for it just not playing out the same way it has the last three times. Maybe they can date and have fights about her dying all the time when it's her turn to do the dishes and him not telling her he's married (we're separated!).
I was sorta confused with how they got Clara back. She used to be a Dalek way in the future, and all this seemed to take place in late 19th century Britain. I'm guessing I missed something? Oh and she is cute and I didn't get the creepy "in love with the Doctor" vibe from her. At least it's not Tennant sulking and obsessing over Rose crap. And now I just reminded myself Rose existed. Goddammit.
I'm guessing you're missing the end, where the Doctor was confused by the very same thing once he realized it was the same person.
I just want to point out that Clara Oswin Oswald is an anagram for "Is A Lowdown Rascal." Clearly she can't be trusted! Other viable anagrams: "A Colossal War Wind" and "A Coward Allows Sin." Yes it's a slow day at work, don't judge me.
Damn, I did. So she's basically timefucked or something. I'm just going to go with that term. edit: dammit, Forge!
BBCA is running a Who marathon today, it's always fun to see Silence in the Library again, knowing the long game Moffat was playing with it. :)
All of this talk about Oswin and speculation is great and all, but I'm just looking forward to the other half of the season. For all we know, her deal may be something completely original to the whoniverse and completely unexpected. I'm excited for it.
My current Kindle screensaver (not created by me, to be clear, and I'm unsure on the original source). It's a bummer you need to essentially jailbreak your Kindle to your own images loaded.
Made by a fan, but pretty epic: http://youtu.be/rrSaTHsHNsc For some reason it won't let me embed here.
I wasn't a huge fan of Tennant as The Doctor, but his regeneration really choked me up. "I don't want to go!" *explosion*
Speaking of Fiftieth Anniversary celebrations, BBCA is going to show an episode from each doctor, starting this Sunday (the 27th) with a serial from the first!
Cool, I recently got back into Doctor Who last year with the 11th and have been curious about the older series.
Hmm. I bet someone with both the talent and the time (so not me) could make a great and epic story that spliced through all the Doctors. For instance, if you were the Cybermen (or maybe an immortal human), experiencing time linearly, different doctors show up at different times, sometimes the same doctor at different times, screwing with your plans for conquest.
Could the truest of Whovians give us an explanation of Susan? I know she's the Doctor's granddaughter, but when did that happen? Did the Doctor have a family before he started running? And why is her name "Susan" and not something more Time Lordly? Or was this stuff never explained because it comes from an era when canon mattered even less than now?
The Doctor has definitely had kids in this canon, though. He makes an off hand comment to Rose that is never followed up on that he's had children before.
Let's not forget his clone-daughter Jenny is still running around out there somewhere, and he also has an adopted time-lord daughter called Miranda (who might be his real daughter as well) in the expanded cannon of the BBC Dr. Who novels. Yep.
