The pretender submission deadline is one week from today. Only Lum has his in. In fact, he had his in day one, which makes me think he's had an idea rolling around in his head for a while.

  2. What ended up happening was me being ermor(I dont think I was but I cannot recall why I needed death gems) and not having what a clue to do other than "dude you need to make death gems so you can national summon" > and then I focused too much on death gems, and then i lost a bunch of battles, so in giving up I gave em all to the other guy in last place who then cast darkness upon the world... it was great!

Hah, I noticed that also. He was also quite quick to join the game, too.

I am ready to submit, but will wait a bit more time to test if the others are still waiting. If people get theirs going, I will send my current one in right away.

Ah, what the heck. I may as well send it in now. I am 99% sure I will not be changing it :).

Hey nate, do you have a map version with 74 and 62 connected?
  7. Nate Worked The System

I've only got the one on llamaserver, and know nothing about map editing. So probably not.
  8. Nate Worked The System

We've got five pretenders in with the deadline fast approaching! Friday is the day! That's two days from now!

    Kat aka Lanka
    Austen aka Hinnom
    Nate aka Sauromatia

Get your pretenders in! Kat, stop with the exams already and start submitting a pretender. Remember your priorities!
  9. Kat Keeper of the Elemental Materials

yeah, but no, but yeah... You'll get it on friday

Where do you find this stuff Kat? I think I am forever amazed at what you dig up. Soldier's Friday made me laugh, a difficult thing to do when sleep deprived.
  11. Kat Keeper of the Elemental Materials

I've dabbled in a fair share of internet fandoms. So I've been around the worst parts of the internet a couple of times :P

For New Lanka, they love this city!

In his defence it's probably easier to understand him with this stuff then if he actually tried to type :)

(Nate PM your Pretender/jist of your strat, Sauro is my fav Early game nation and I'm super interested).

The first turn. How beautifully untouched it looks. Soon my purple flags will cover it all :)

No one researching on turn one, and relatively similar Dominion scores means: no awake pretenders! That is weird! No SCs early on to worry about.

Updating OP with links to scores. I'll try to post graphs every year or so. I'll post a pic of the map as well. Without any revealing info :)

Meh, I'll believe it when I see the provinces taken graph. It's a relatively easy (if slightly risky I'll admit) to send your SC out on the first turn. There's also enough SC chassis that can live with being asleep for a year, I wouldn't write some of those options off already :)
  20. Nate Worked The System

I meant year 1 early. No one was ballsy enough to go for a province first turn. Way too risky in my opinion. But if someone manages to grab two provinces on turn 2, it'll be a different story.
  21. Kelan Level 50 Hunter

Ugh! What happened to my income!? 175? dang!

I am stuck at work for another 7 hours so can't see my turn, but looking at Llamaserver and the scores it appears I had a bad luck event in my capitol. I didn't even end up taking misfortune either :/.

  22. Josho Level 90 Paladin

What is the story with the victory points as well? They don't actually correspond to the capitals I've noticed, unlike the BFNewb game. Will this be a problem in terms of the game knowing when victory is vs when we know the winner. I'll probably be wiped out by that time anyway, but miracles happen, and my strategy might work to some extent.
  23. Nate Worked The System

The VPs are meaningless. Llamaserver throws up five spots randomly. They have no bearing on capitals or victory conditions. Your scouting will be vital this game.
  24. Nate Worked The System

We'll rely in the reports of those in game to determine victory, checked by a third party if desired by the players.

Hinnom, Sauromatia and T'ien Ch'i have all managed to score two provinces in one turn. Lanka, Kailasa, Mictlan, and Fomoria are moving steadily at 1 province per turn. Ermor started on turn three, grabbing it's second province a bit later than the rest of the pack.

Hinnom has had a lucky gem find early, either from searching or from stumbling upon an Enchanted Forest or Highlands or something.

Ermor and TC lead the research pool, with Lanka, Mictlan, Fomoria and Kailasa close behind. Saurmatia and Hinnom have yet to start researching, indicating that their commanders are out conquering the heathen countryside.
  26. Lum Fatbird

Fomoria - if your scouting is as diligent as ours, you may have noticed we are neighbors. If not, consider this a friendly hello.

I trust that conflict this early will not be necessary, and that we can work out borders that keep both our continued expansion open.

If not, well, there's that too.

I'd love to see an early battle between your jacked up jags and his uber blessed Giants.
  28. Kelan Level 50 Hunter

Ugh, the Dominions Gods are against me this game so far. First brigands take up in my capitol and now I have a bunch of diseased units that didn't even get into the battle - must have passed through a disease site already or something. Things can only go up now!

I have encountered the strange animal folk from Lanka. I shudder to think what happens in that capitol late at night and shall steer far clear for now :).

Hippies man. Of course you bureaucrats would call them rebels for not conforming to the written way :-) Also, diseased sites can only mean death gems, sounds good to me.

  32. Josho Level 90 Paladin

Brigands really don't like me this game. Go somewhere else dammit, I'm busy.... uhhhhh, doing stuff. Yeah!

I see Kelan loves brigands and will gladly welcome them to T'ien C'hi.
  33. Kelan Level 50 Hunter

I hate being at work and looking at the graphs knowing something went wrong in a battle and not knowing what it was. I am not sure if I would rather it be a random event or failed province take at this point :).

You went up on provinces but only by one as opposed to something closer to the +3 you had on the previous turn, so either you attacked 2 (or more) or you are remembering incorrectly.

Your Army Size graph continues to go up straight as an arrow which makes me think you did not lose an army.

I don't see a dead SC in Hall of Fame, so you prob did not fail at a land grab that way which would not have shown much on the charts.

Normally I would say the income chart should tell us the story here, but yours is also straight as an arrow, continuing to rocket up. Not sure exactly what to make of that.

Also, Black Bones Pirates are completely off the board for Mercenaries. Maybe you bid on them and they got blown up by barbs or something..

I suppose based on everything I listed here, the most likely thing would be that you only attacked one province and are remembering something incorrectly. If you did in fact attack more than one, then I would say either:
    - Barb invasion type event or
    - You had a commander catch a bad arrow resulting in the army routing without much in the way of casualties.

When you find out, let me know! :)
  35. Kelan Level 50 Hunter

Yeah, I only attacked 2 provinces, but my one smaller army became pincushions from some meaner than normal archers. I was pushing it a little, but the losses were small so shouldn't be too bad.
  36. Kelan Level 50 Hunter

I sure wish I could find more scouts! None of my provinces have any for hire and my poor starter guy can only do so much. I hate expanding blindly in a direction without knowing who is on the other side.
  37. Austen Hivemind Coordinator

Interesting that you lost guys, but your army size graph stayed so true..

Also, re: scouts... EA games they are pretty rare... its def a pain..
  38. Press release from Kailisa! Archer and horse independents can gargle arsenic. A new hipster movement has sprung up in our capital, reading and meditation is now cool. All monkeys emulate glorious leader.

I spy the aggressively expanding Hinnom and the Bright Yellow Banner of Kailasa. Also, ThornFalconeye, Goddess of unnatural Lust, Goddess of Near and Close (ahem)... Really? That sounds fun! :) I better tell my believers that unnatural lust is just not cool.

I hope Austen doesn't feel a strong desire to keep expanding my way. If you feel like drawing up some borders when your scouts/expedition make contact with my currently claimed lands, then let me know. Of course, if you want your borders to include my capital, then we might have a bit of a problem....

I've bumped into Hinnom as well. Care to take them out together? Always good to halt the leader early on.

Austen did win our last game over at that other forum :)
