Did a frig thing with a couple people, including Kat and ThornFalconeye tonight, the missiles look fantastic and the revised T1 frigs seem a lot nicer, at the least it's much easier to get a decent fit out of the Incursus now. I haven't tried any of the new mods or really had time to think about them much and I'm not involved in factional warfare at all. The patchnotes for inferno
Welp, I guess everyone's gone fuckqcats or whatever.. Time to start thinking about a new wormhole corp, again. Thorn, checkers, you two still in?
I remain torn. Anything under C4 sucks for me because of the awsomeness of FW and the like(want to make 60-150m an hour in a T1 frigate? 1 plex = 10-20K LP for 15m of time). also http://gallente.eve-kill.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=13592475. But then again crap like http://gallente.eve-kill.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=13578834 happens a lot, where they wont move in anything less than packs of 15(I hate BLOOM- want logi backup for frig/dessy fights? ask them). and all of these nano navy frigs that can go 3-4km/s- guaranteed loss if you are flying a T1. Zero Chance.
ideally we will have only 5 players in corp as to not suck the WH dry too easily, yet ideally we will have 10 pilots always online because you can gank a lot of teams with 5 or 6 combat ships and a covert guy.
Inferno 1.1 has a short changelog up. Interesting changes to FW: Maybe Caldari major plexes won't be so full of permajamming! I'm going to reconsider which faction I fight for, but I have enough for two Tempest navy issues now. One for me, one for the market!
Alright the WH thing is scheduled for this thursday. Going to be a C2 or a C3- so far we have me, bunny, checkers. We could use 2 or 3 more people if you are interested. Need the skills to fly: -a drake or similar battlecruiser -a probing frigate, preferably T2 with covert ops cloak -salvaging ship like a thrasher, so you can salvage teh loots -an industrial to haul some fuel -Play for less than like 2 hours a day because wormholes without statics are bad for farming, we may or may not get a good static, even with a static please don't do all the sites all day long. What you can expect -some of the best PI planets in the game -paying an upkeep of 10million/number of people in corp per day for POS fuel[I can waive this for stuff after first month ] -make ~50 million an hour doing sites solo -selling all of your loot by taking a frigate to high sec -hauling fuel in an industrial for a med tower -beating up people that come into our wormhole -me teaching you stuff about eve if you want to know it.
I'd recommend anyone to take up that offer, WH's a cool place to be and pays nice money compared to the low barrier of entry. Thorn's a cool guy too.
Yeah the big downside to the WH right now is the incredibly stupid money you can make in FW with a tech 1 or tech 2 frigate if you can afford to play in a dead timezone(ask checkers how he is doing hehe).
So maybe it's a good thing you guys got out of "Elite PvP" in qcats. They've gone roleplay: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=115426
yeah big leadership change was why i was interested in getting out- current leadership is crazy weird now, but its still mostly full of great small scale pvp guys who are classy. Still looking for more crummy players for the WH :D
https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=124145&find=unread Goonswarm rapes FW for massive amounts of cash, then tells CCP how to fix it. This is how much _one_ of the people involved had after cashout:
Yeah and they probably did that by making 5 or 6 new trial accounts or a new characeter on each account, then fitting them all out with the latest in T1 rifters or whatever, and afk orbiting a button for 10 minutes. Someone come in to stop you? simply warp out and try back in 10 minutes. Clearly 150m isk/hour in a frigate is what the payout should be. I did that crap for like 6 hours and ended up getting about a billion which I then invested in WH stuff and big pvp ships(this was with level 4 payouts, but it was also before the big market crash). Looking forward to how much isk FW plexers made, and how CCP plans to fix this.
You didn't read the article, they didn't get this LP from plexing. Here's a tl;dr: In FW you get LP for blowing up enemy ships. The LP amount is partially based on Eve's estimated value for the ship + cargo, so goons filled freighters with minerals that have an overestimated value and blew them up in FW. The LP they got from this effectively "cost" a certain amount of ISK, they claim well under 500isk/lp. CCP noticed this exploit and fixed it by removing cargo from the LP drop calculation. Goons could have given up and cashed out this LP at 2000isk/lp immediately (a 300% return), but instead they found another multiplier. They started buying unpopular FW items that were otherwise not traded and listing them in Jita for enormous prices. This pushed up the Eve estimated value to ridiculous levels. Suddenly you have a module that Eve thinks is worth 2bn ISK. Fit a few to a ship, blow it up in FW.. hey presto! Your 200k LP investment in modules has been converted to 1m LP through the magic of FW payouts. Goons did this LP -> module -> more LP cycle a few times, then cashed out on the open market, which explains why the price for implants and hardwirings has fallen off a cliff over the past few weeks.
Oh wow I retartedly missed the link; I did a double take at the number of implants :P That is a sweet plan, and if they were working on the jackal implant line there was zero supply and zero demand. I really want to see some numbers on how many people in FW become super rich, and what rough % of goonswarm was involved in taking the minmatar space. If this was low effort and goons are the only large nullsec alliance that cares about FW, it would be nice to get some low priced amarr battleships :D.
CCP have taken LP and isk off the goons who did this.. queue rage about "it's only a sandbox until we decide to mess it up". I've got no links at the moment (or at least since this morning when I last looked) to definite articles, but SA forums and EO general forums are mentioning it. I would think there will be a PR shitstorm brewing about this.
On the one hand that's a giant fuck you to a creative bunch of players. On the other hand, five trillion is a big fucking number and apparently CCP has decided to call it an exploit?
Yep, and I can't help feeling that CCP should have let it stick (ie. let them keep the trillions) as it's another great "Eve Shenanigans" story. But we shall see! I've not seen any Mittens posts yet about it either
Goon post showing they've lost some stuff - https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1523097#post1523097 (Post made by Aryth, one of the masterminds of this scheme I believe)
I think CCP are struggling to find a way to make FW very cheap for participants without just simply giving them an ISK firehose that will unbalance the rest of Eve's economy. The massively increased LP rewards have done two things which are 1) let everyone in FW fly cheap faction cruisers and 2) destroy the ISK price for them in Jita, which I would say has actually achieved these goals pretty well. If they can find a way to accurately estimate "proper" ship prices (take into account prices of similar items?) or a way to reward people in a non-exploitable manner (higher insurance tiers payable with LP? A faction-wide reimbursement pool that kill values go into?) FW will become a very attractive middleground betwen RvB and null warfare.
Juan Rayo from qt3 is starting up a new corp and recruitment is open to qt3/BF members new and old. Who: If you don't know Juan, among several Eve accomplishments he is founder of the upthread-mentioned Quantum Cats Syndicate (lol their first kill) who were one of the largest, newbie friendly and most-willing-to-engage-stupid-odds-and-win corps in FW. What: Juan is now a free man and looking to start a new corp in Faction Warfare. The corp focus is FW PvP. There's no minimum skill requirement and newbies are welcomed with open arms and small gifts of free Rifters. For new players you'll get quality pvp training and enough income to purchase all the destroyers you desire. For experienced players you join a corp with veteran PvPers who want fleetmates for small gang roams and the occasional faction-wide battleship brawl. Apply: Join the 'qt3' channel ingame to say hi or drop Juan a message on qt3.
Juan's new corp is a go and all ready looks to be off to a good and fun start... and I think he's going to join Broken Forum soon! Anyway, I told him I would post here letting everyone know that the corporation is up and running and he asked if I would post the following few tidbits: 1. We welcome and train newbies in all aspects: pvp, isk making, the works. 2. We are not "elite" nor ever will be. We consider being "good" not having a great K/d ratio, but rather doing that AND helping fellow militia. Think of militia as our alliance, if they need help, we burn to them! 3. We stay in galmil. 4. We keep new corp DRAMA FREE. (or as much as that is possible in EVE) 5. I am not a great gc nor a great CEO. But, that´s what directors are for :) and we have GOOD ones :) and we are in it for the fun. Like chequers said above, join the 'qt3' channel ingame or send him a message on QT3. I'm sure he'll be along on BF soon now that he's not bogged down with work!
I've been running incursions lately. If you want to see a whole bunch of ridiculously expensive battleships shoot at 200m sig radius cruisers being webbed by ridiculously expensive t3s while getting repped by ridiculously expensive logis -- this is the place to be! Incursion fleets look down on people flying ships without faction damage mods and heaven help you if your battleship is not even faction/pirate/t2. Since fleets are limited in size there's a massive emphasis on fitting the absolute best versions of any mod you can buy. On the plus side, they are very pretty.
Vile Rat, long time head diplomat for Goonswarm and more generally the entire CFC, died while working in the USA's embassy in Libya. The Mittani writes up an obituary of sorts.
The funniest david vs goliath writeup I've read in a very long time: Just watched an Incursus frig take out an Orca in highsec
100bn lost in a failed wormhole eviction. This battle is between dreads and triage archons, the cheapest ships killed are some neut bhaals at the start worth, oh, 1-2bn each. Battle summary: http://whkills.info/?a=kill_related&kll_id=181865 Video of the fight from winning side with comms:
I loved this comment: "133K DAMAGE WITH FUCKING SMALL RAILS. NOT THE HERO EVE DESERVES, BUT THE ONE IT NEEDS."
So how is eve these days? I kind of want to come back but not with everyone flying with pirate implants and off grid boosters in low sec. I would join to party with newbies in high sec again though :P
The best part of the recent changes is a slew of massive buffs to t1 frigs, destroyers and cruisers. To give you an idea of how much they've buffed the ships you can now fly the Bellicose in a fleet non-ironically. Also, 900dps from a Vexor. Oh, and don't forget the new destroyer line, which uses each race's off-weapon for lower-damage kiting style play. The Caldari missile destroyer with new missile effects is apparently very cool. If you want to party with newbies, Red vs Blue. I think you tried that before and weren't so impressed? From what I gather there is currently a big surge in signups of plays who want to play with the rebalanced ships so now's a great time to give them a second chance. I'll be putting in some serious hours through the Christmas season BTW.
Sitting on gate in a Red vs Blue fleet. "hey guys, we're meant to be in tech 1 frigates, why is there a Raven [battleship] with us?" "hmm, looks like it's smart bomb fitted" http://rvbeve.com/red/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=380513 Another reminder that in Eve, thou shalt not fly what thou cannost afford to lose. 800m ISK to replace my pod! (For comparison, my ship cost 1m)
Ouch. Like for the life lesson; definitely been there and done that myself. :( I seem to recall that being a favorite trick of unscrupulous pilots to get newbies banished to low/nullsec for long periods of time due to the sec status hit. Not thinking that's what happened to you guys, but have definitely seen it before.
So I decided to pick this up at the steam sale. I played it years ago but it was several email addresses ago and I don't remember account info so I expect my old characters are long gone. Been putzing around mining stuff near my starting area with the idea of being a mining/industry type person in the long run but it's irritating that every belt seems to be perma-empty.
Your old characters are still there, definitely look into reactivating them if you can, especially if you played for a few months, since it's essentially free skill points. You can open a support request at support.eveonline.com for help finding them if you remember the email, account or character name. Anyway, hop into the "qt3" channel in game to find qt3/bf'ers :)
Okay, opened a ticket and will see where it goes. I played for a couple years I think. Had amarr and minmatar recon and battlecruiser. Until I hear back I nom veldspar
Don't get too attached to your new guy then :) Sounds like your old guy has a nice headstart on the typical newb grind.
Any regular players may have heard about the Tuskers FFA that occurred last week, where approximately 2000 kills took place over a 6hr period. Well, that's fine and dandy and all, but Red vs Blue think we can do better. To that end, a RvB FFA will be occurring with prefitted ships supplied to all participants. The number of prefitted ships? 26 000. Yep. The goal is to crash the server node. It's gonna be a fun day. Since the FFA will be in highsec you'll need to be in Red or Blue to participate, entry to these corps is as always unrestricted and applications are accepted in 0-12hrs. The event starts 1500 eve time on the 26th and continue until there are no ships remaining, which might be a day or so. If you want to bring a pilot I'd recommend something that can fly as many races as possible, some of the prefitted ships will be lolfits so cross-race competency will let you have fun without needing to hunt among the ejected hulls for a suitable one.
