FAQ: How Can I Be More Kawaii Than You (Hint: contains Yogurting)

Discussion in 'The Bridge Over The River Kawaii' started by Lum, Nov 26, 2012.

    And now, a FAQ:

Does this mean visual novel/dating sims/otome game LPs go in this new forum?

No. Please keep them in the LP forum.

Does this mean we can't respond to LP threads? Or go off topic?

No. That's silly. This forum is what you make it. If the original thread poster humorlessly does not want any distractions he/she will make that clear. There is a lot of derailing in many LP threads AND THAT IS OK.

So what does go in this new forum?

Anything you want! More specficially, discussion of VN/dating sims that aren't LPs, or meta-discussion from the community that has sprung up around them. Really this is a new forum for the LP community that has sprung up here and it is up to YOU where it morphs.

Wasn't that what Social Groups were supposed to be?

Yes, but they didn't work very well. There's a lot of bugs and I haven't been able to fix them (I apologize for that). Feel free to continue to use them if you want (like, say, if you can't stop talking about maids) but feel free to use this new forum as well.

Will Elyscape moderate this new forum too?

Yes. Note that he is finding this out via this FAQ. Be sure to harass him mercilessly and without pity about this.

Does this mean we're not welcome elsewhere on Broken Forum?

Not at all. There are very much two separate communities that have sprung up here (and it would be silly to deny that) but there have been many users who are members of both, and I hope that continues.

I don't want my What's New page to have this forum/all other forums in it.

You're in luck! Follow this link http://brokenforum.com/index.php?account/whats-new and you can filter whichever forum you like from your What's New feed, so it can be nothing but LP-related forums, or LP-related thread free, based on your exclusionary preferences (or maybe you just don't like politics, I'm told that's a thing too).

Is the new forum considered NC-17 like this one?

Oh god, you're making me go there. OK. Look. Most of the forum has to be work-safe, if for no other reason than so *I* can look at it at work. Please do your best to keep this new forum worksafe as well. As far as adult themes, yes I recognize that is part and parcel of the community but I also ask you to please be adult about it and not in the porn-adult sense. You've done well so far, please continue to do so.

    I have other questions!

I've mirrored this FAQ here, and am keeping it unlocked, so please ask away there.

    Do you hate me?

No! To prove it, please enjoy my favorite video ever.

So does this mean that we can make a thread for text adventures? (Hint hint, Jacquelle)

I was led to believe this thread would include ~~~~adult~~~~ themes.

Lum, I really appreciate all the work that goes into managing Broken Forum. You're the best dictator this side of Tropico we could ask for.

    So that's what Yogurting means.
  7. Lum Fatbird

Yogurting means WHATEVER YOU WANT IT to mean
  8. Lum Fatbird

Although near the end you see one of the mascot characters with the complete non-sequitor thought bubble "IT IS A GAME" in English, so there's that.
  9. Jacquelle Hatoful Pigeon

Since text adventures are pretty much the exact opposite of visual novels and very few are about dating, if I make a thread about them I think I'd put it in the regular gaming forum. Correct?

I'm not exactly sure. Is this place just for VNs and dating games? Lum 's FAQ seemed to suggest otherwise.

Lum, I love you forever. You can have all my kawaii feelings.
  13. Hanacker Armchair Designer

Ask yourself if a topic is kawaii and then decide. Text adventures are probably not very kawaii so they can go in a different forum. If the text adventure had an ASCII Hello Kitty, then it can go here.

It says Dating Sims or the meta-discussion of us Dating Sim loving people. So discussion of specific games, or things like "So what's up with all the Pokémon games in the LP forum?", but not text adventures. Am I wrong?

Question: I'm wanting to start a fanart thread, for posting work-safe examples of stuff we find on the Internet, and for the artists out there, their own stuff. Most fanart seems to be of anime and/or manga, but not all of it... is this the right forum for a fanart thread, since it's likely to be Japan-centric, or is Entertaining Diversions a better home?
  17. Lum Fatbird

Re: the proposed text adventure thread, it could go in either place (much like Christine Love's VNs which thanks to being written by/for a Western audience tend to have far more crossover appeal than most).
  18. Jacquelle Hatoful Pigeon

Shall I start it or you? To avoid possible duplicate topics.
James Birdsong and Nebty like this.
  19. Lum Fatbird

Again, it could easily go in either. Probably ED since I suspect a lot of people would be interested in *good* fan art.

This summoning thing is pretty cool. I just talk about someone and the next moment they appear.

Glad to hear it! I'm looking forward to your triumphant return.

Would this be an appropriate forum for 1980's cartoon nerdstalgia?

(As in most of the people I know who nerdstalgia for that kind of stuff would have some familiarity with animus and that general world. And they'd crossover a bit.)
  30. salwon Oh, Come On

Go to Entertaining Diversions for that.

I think, when in doubt, use the existing fora for random stuff. Worst case scenario, everyone complains like babies and it gets moved here anyway. But I like 1980s cartoons, and don't plan on checking this forum, so...
  31. Randissimo Hatoful Pigeon

Just like how you summoned me to outside of the LP Forum, I had a mini panic attack, and then decided to suck it up and try actually liking posts instead of just lurking. So thank you for that. Actually commenting, though, is a completely different story and will happen sometime when I stop freaking out for whatever reason.

On another note, I just want to thank you, Lum, for doing this. Because this is a much more comfortable environment to start branching out from the LP Forum without feeling completely terrified for no adequately explained reason.

It's a relief, honestly. You're doing fantastic work!

No LPs of it and you'd need to be careful with your choice of screenshots if you want to post any, but otherwise yes, I suppose.
  36. Randomletters Already Beat BF's New Expansion

Ah, thanks for the clarification! No problem. Won't make a topic, then.
