Were those the main complaints people had?

    Does it replace the story?

If you finished the game and saved your girlfriend instead of killing her, you got the wrong ending.

Was there actually a right ending?

I just went back to this, like a girlfriend who was REALLY bad for me. I feel like I'm fine with suffering through the awful story and story missions, telling myself "they are what they are, just do them to the best of your ability and don't expect them to take advantage of any of the good elements of an open world game", get through them as needed so I can get on with the really fun exploring and badly fucking up the enemies roaming around. I got some mods (Zippy's mod, or something) that's rad, and it runs well on my PC.

Now the only thing I could really ask for is a way to skip cutscenes. No one has figured that out yet. :(

Well, other games have figured that out. I'm assuming it's something that depends very strongly on how the engine functions.

Oh, I'm sure. Mods have done so my h other cool stuff, though... :)

Also? Without the main story? This game is freaking great. So fun to have the Ziggy mod, which makes the enemies really challenging, crafting harder, but gives the wingsuit and unlocks (but doesnt give) all skills from the start.

Just picked this up thanks to the 40% off sale, and so far I don't have too many complaints with the default game mode, although having to unlock even the second weapon slot is pretty silly. Still, goats. Not hard to find.

Any must-have mods, or mod overview in general? I see a recommendation for Ziggy from DoomMunky but that's a massive overhaul that probably does too much for me at the moment. Only thing I can think of is to stop that mission reminder from popping up and remove the blinking quest giving items in the world, but that's probably too specific.

Most of that stuff can be turned off in the HUD options. I just played it through and I found it was fine unmodded.

Yeah, I just found it! I didn't realize it was patched in and was reading this thread from launch which of course didn't have those options, and assumed it being a typical Ubi release of the fire-and-forget type. Very glad to see those - now running around with most of the reminders off, and the experience is much better.

Okay, Far Cry 3. We need to talk. Specifically, you need to develop a little bit more self-confidence. You know what is NEVER the best way to have an ultimate confrontation? A quick time event. And you did it three times. Well, three that I remember - I could be forgetting stuff, but I think there were only three significant bosses. This is a game entirely about shooting things in the face. The combat is the central part. Why every single boss fight has to boil down to some goddamn hallucinatory bullshit knife fight with infinity many unaccounted-foir minions I guess committing ritual seppuku in the background because they weren't significant enough to get some dumbass to voice them is just beyond me, but if you're going to insist on doing it that way, maybe PLAY TO THE FUCKING GODDAMN GAME SYSTEMS THAT GOT YOU THERE.

On the one hand, this game has thirty four pretty okay objectives. The save system could use some work (you'll never get one off perfectly), but still - not bad. On the other, every other thing the game does drives as far in the opposite direction of the fun part as it can possibly get. I am so incredibly torn by this. I really don't understand why somebody, somewhere doesn't make an open world type of game that's just the parts of every single goddamn Bethesda game I actually play (the sidequests), but here's another one of those games where I saw the story through to its end and I don't feel the least bit good about it. Also, head writer whoever you are, kindly get out of your own ass. I didn't even need to know that you'd been talking to realize that you thought you were accomplishing something far more significant here than you actually were.

And the co-op campaign can just suck on my ass because they're impossible to do without bringing in another player or controller, and none of my friends are currently on this game, so now I'm going to take the disc out, forget about it, and lose an easy FC. Which is a shame, because it seems like the co-op campaign could be interesting. I mean, it's just Left 4 Dead with pirates, and you can do that by yourself, so I'm not sure what the big deal is, but whatever. Maybe six months from now, against all odds, I'll remember this existed and we'll finish it then.

Man, I hope that BioShock Infinite is better than this. Or, barring that, Saint's Row the Third, which I apparently also ordered. Or that it at least doesn't do anything with the last quarter of the experience to make me hate it just that much for squandering the lead.
