((Then, General Palpaleos enters the room...))


((...And approaches My Wife's sleeping self.
Why, this is not creepy at all! It's even romantic according to a certain book/movie tween franchise! My Wife shifts a little in her sleep, but does not wake up.

Then we hear the door opening. Emperor Sauzer enters My Wife's cell and addresses Palpaleos.))


Palpaleos: No...
Sauzer: Don't worry about it.
Sauzer: Can you feel it...? The legend we dreamed of is here, now.


Sauzer: Yes... This girl will fulfill our dreams...


Sauzer: No, it's rude of me to call her a girl. Princess My Wife has become very beautiful.

((So, if she were ugly you would still call her a girl? What's the matter with "girl", anyway? It's not inherently rude or anything.))

Sauzer: Palpaleos... The day we leave is close at hand. Please rest.

((The Emperor leaves the room.))


((And after that we're treated to a flashback!))

Sauzer: ((facing the sky)) Look at the sky...
Sauzer: The sky is ours. But not all of it.
Palpaleos: Sauzer...
Sauzer: There is a legend... One spoken of in Kahna. Do you know of it?

Sauzer: Do you think I can do it?
Sauzer: Do you think I can become the man of legend?
((No because you're obviously the villain. Duh.))
Sauzer: I am the man who conquered the skies. If there are any battles before me, I will accept the challenge.
Sauzer: An then I will achieve victory!


((D'awwww!))
((Seriously, tho, these guys' bromance was the one thing that redeemed Palpaleos in my eyes.
There was no need to redeem Sauzer, if you're wondering, because I never came to hate him the same way I hated Palpaleos.))

I love how they both broke into her room while she was sleeping and then started randomly expositing.

It makes me assume she's drugged, or in some sort of magical (drugged) sleep. Because really, one expects villains to exposit at the camera for the sake of the audience, but with an actual witness?

Maybe she's actually just trying to sleep, and lying there with her eyes closed thinking, "If they would just stop it with the villainous dialogue, maybe I could get some damn rest already."

I love this and this is now my headcanon.

When I played that part I thought "Huh. Soooo, they're still there. Nooooot awkward at all."
fadeaccompli's explanation is much better though. Headcanon accepted.

You'd think that they would be more careful to divulge any clues to their plan.
Obviously, they've never took the ultimate Villain Overlord course.

In keeping with the name though, when you apply, they take your tuition fees and disappear over the horizon.

Yesterday my classes started again (actually they started back in the 4th, but whatever), so I'll have to spend a considerable time making homework while cursing every generation of my teachers' families. That, in conjunction with my search for a job, means I'll have less time to update this LP.
I'll not let it die though, but the updates will be more sparse.

Also, heh, Adventure Time, I remember watching that at my mate's house when we were on our lunch break during Thesis crunch-time (His place was a few minutes from our building on Campus, so we'd go back there to get food and commiserate)

Yeah, I can understand where Rush's coming from. Matelite can be really annoying if you're not used to him.
His condescension used to get on my nerves every time, but I spent so much time with him bossing me around that by now I don't mind anymore. It's not like he can change that part of himself anyway.

Melodia's such an adorable child. I can't help but see her as my own little sister.
I wish she didn't have to fight in this war. A battlefield is no place for a child.

This is actually something I was meaning to ask but completely forgot, is it easy to understand which character is which in this LP?
I mostly just talk about them without describing their appearances because I thought it would look like a Mary Sue Fic if I did that, but I'm not sure I'm doing a good enough job introducing the characters to you guys.

I've been finding it pretty easy to follow so far.

I just wanted to pop in and say this is awesome. MariPanda, you're awesome. I've tried playing this game on... means besides the SNES and it always froze. I can finally find out what's beyond that first battle.

Brimney, what emulator did you use?

Snes9X I think. To make things really weird, it froze on my computer AND on my psp. It could have just been a bad rom, but I tried a few different ones

Both on your PC and PSP? Man, weird.
Maybe the translation file was wonky? I think I was able to mess up a Fire Emblem rom once because of crappy translation file.

About the emulator, I've always used ZSNES and it never froze or died on me in all of these years I've been using it. (I'm currently using the same version of ZSNES that I used the first time I played Bahamut Lagoon, a good 8 years ago)
Maybe you could give it a try.

Boring Gameplay Shit: An Update On Formations

((So, the game spends this chapter explaining some core battle mechanics, specifically Formations and its relationship with Dragons. I'll put my own explanations of these concepts on spoilers while cutting the in game ones.))

Fafing Around on the Internet: Crew Antics Part One (Of Infinity)

((So, in every beginning, and sometimes ending, of a chapter you are allowed to run around, talk to people and do stuff like buying, selling and dragon feeding.
Each one of your units has a little sub-plot going on, and some happen to be pretty amusing. I'll be chronicling some(? Most? All?) of them~
Mind, this stuff is not exactly plot-relevant, but I like how the game went out of their way to give a little more character to your soldiers.))

I look around the room and I notice Frederica looking rather weak, and in fact, she seems on the verge of collapsing.
I rush to her side and ask if she's okay.


Frederica: I'm always like this...
Frederica: But, please...
Frederica: Take this medicine...

Has her health always been this bad?
I tell her that I can't possibly take her medicine, and ask her to drink it herself.
((We get a bunch of useful items if we act like assholes and take her medicine, by the way.))

Frederica: Thank you, I've calmed down a little but I should fall asleep soon...
((This is Frederica's shtick, she's sick and fainting all the time.))


I ask what it is about them.

Diana: They say that they were best friends ever since they were little kids...
Diana: While looking at the sky they would talk about their dreams and ambitions.
Diana: It's a little different than those two lancers over there...
She waves in Frenze and Reeve's direction.

How... How does she know all that? Isn't that supposed to be highly personal information...?
... I shiver and mentally note to myself to not tell Diana anything that I want to remain secret.
((Diana's a huge gossip and I liked this little bit of exposition because I love the whole Sauzer x Palpaleos as Heterosexual Partners for Life thing. It's adorbs, yo.))

I can't help but being impressed by her power. She's just as strong a Wizard as any grown up could be, and she's just a child.
