Okay, I got the C support with Chrom and FeMU and I'm D'awww-ing all over the place. THEY ARE SO CUTE, GUYS.
Nebty, you make me green with envy! Though the masked!Naoto comment makes me want to create a manly MU!Kanji. Sooooooo I'm really excited for this game, excited enough that I made a spreadsheet to track my team matchmaking plans. Has anyone else done ridiculous preplanning?
HOLY SHIT. Well. I don't know why I thought you'd dabbled with it before. But man are you in for a treat!
That old man is growing on me. Meanwhile, this'll be my first FE game as well. I watched my brother play Sacred Stones, but that's not the same thing as playing it yourself.
I'm so jealous of you too Nebty! I did the same thing, I think I have like 4 different lists of pairings sorted by pairings I like and then pairings that give me powerhouses,it's pretty fun! but makes me want the game even more
I'm kind of in trouble with my parents, so it may be quite awhile before I can get my copy, but dang, I can tell it will be absolutely glorious when I do.
If you meet my husband, could you let me know what his name is? XD He's the Legolas-like War Monk that enters in chapter... 9, I believe. And in chapter 13 there's a Dark Mage, but NoA didn't provide the name yet on Facebook. If you're too busy, it's cool. :d
I believe you're talking about Riviera (the blond monk) and Henri (white-haired mage). (: ...those are the two I'm trying to decide between for a female Avatar, haha. Does anyone know how many save files this game has?
Oops, that's probably true. Sorry about that! I guess I assumed they would've been updated already, but that would be kind of fast, now that I think about it more...
^ Oh, to answer your question, it has three save files and I think like two suspend files for in-battle.
Question for all the FE newcomers, are you planning on playing on Classic or Casual mode? I'll likely only use Casual for a Lunatic run. For most pairs, I'll be waiting to see how much I like their supports together endless A supports are a godsend and
I'm getting a 3ds to play this when it comes out in April over here in second-class citizen land. I'll be playing it on classic mode because, from what you all say, that seems like the way to get the Fire Emblem experience. I'm unsure if I'll be rolling with the punches or reloading when things go horribly wrong, but I look forward to finding out. Also, I haven't played a Japanese SRPG since Shining Force when I was 8, so jumping back in at the deep end will be interesting.
Permadeath is the only way to play. Typically you'll get reinforcements as the game goes on. You'll be sad when your favorite archer is caught in an advance and dies, but another archer will come along a few missions later, and he'll be a unique character with his own unique dialog and story. And if your first archer was still alive, maybe you wouldn't even use that second archer and would miss out on whatever's going on with the new guy! So definitely just roll with the punches, and replay the game with different people later if you feel like it.
Or drive yourself crazy making sure you keep EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER alive through copious save-scumming and restarting.
Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones. Early on, you recruit a father and son. If they both stay alive, they have a support with each other where they bond over their adventures together and come to grips with the mother passing on, blah blah, who cares. In my game, the son died early on and the father advanced into the gladiator class, took up a second axe, and cut a bloody swath of vengeance through the enemy troops, becoming one of my highest damage dealers. THAT'S DRAMA!
Definitely gonna play Casual Mode first, then Classic on my second playthrough~ And then probably Casual Mode for the rest of my playthroughs as I obsessively attempt to marry every available male character in the game. I don't have a problem.
I usually throw my guys into mad suicide rushes on the last battle just to make it feel more final. Also, I've never kept a single healer alive through a whole game. Usually lose 'em the level I get them.
I'm one of those habituable restarters, who's proud to say all the FE games I've completed (7, 8, 9, 10, 4) have had full teams. Considering the arbitary insta-death that happens by chance with the final boss of FE10, I'm either very lucky or way too much of a perfectionist. For Awakening however, considering you can get DLC characters and Spotpass cameo characters- if you just roll with the deaths you really won't be lacking in units. Just...possible supports? (I do like filling that library)
I'm totally using my camera and making an LP of this game when I get it I DON'T CARE IF THE QUALITY IS SHITTY. Also, the old guy fortune telling has NADDA to do with the actual game. It's just a fun thing to do at random. You'll get a different answer every time you do it. And one more thing. Best Buy is offering the first DLC that lets you recruit MARTH to those who pre-ordered it. For FREE.
I'll watch that! Will it just be a blind playthrough or will there be voting? Also DAMN I think I'm only getting an artbook for preordering with Gamestop. Guess I'll just have Spotpass him, and all the past characters I really really[/i} want, like Innes and Alvis.
It wouldn't be blind. I'm watching Shadowofchaos on Youtube do a playthrough of the original in Japanese (he translates and subs it himself). And since this game has multipule files, I'll have one that is my own playthrough and one for this forum, so I'd let the forum decide on everything that I can, such as everything (and I mean everything) for the Avatar, the choices that come up, who MU will eventually marry, and even who the others will marry as well. The only thing I'll be doing is the fighting and grinding, and I'd show all the supports and probably showcase some of the DLC if I can. I'll just say I'm terrible at FE. I've only played FE10 (Radiant Dawn), and I didn't get very far cuz I only rented it. And then I also played the demo and almost got Lissa killed in the second chapter.
If you want maximum content for the LP I'd recommend having that file be Casual mode, otherwise it might get too frustrating restarting just to keep character X alive for voting/posting. And it's okay not to be the best FE player ever! I'm sure I'd be considered 'bad' because my style is slow and turtlely so my turn count gets insanely high, BUT my teams always grind effectively! That and they all tend to survive, which is a win in my book. Edit: Also Angie's said she likes her Armor/Knight (heavy fighter) units. Anyone else have any favorites? I personally like Pegasus knights and mages, I think I'm a fan of range. HOWEVER I always seem to have one defensive General and one high attack Bezerker, in my team, just to screw the physical threats over with.
With how I played in FE10, I'd say I was like you and always paranoid yet I still somehow got the healers killed. Healers and me apparently just don't get along. Edit: To reply to Dameceles's edit. I like Myrmadons and Dark (Ahem, Elder) mages, the first because I would like to think I could keep up with their speed (I was in both track and cross country when I was in school) and the later because of the non enemy mages you get I find them all quite appealing personality wise. (at least in the ones I've seen; Pelleas, Lyon, Knoll, and Canas are all so adorable)
Just wanted to say this game comes out in Europe in FUCKING APRIL ASIUHFWEIZBQFIUBLKSHJFGAIUSDFGU I hate you all. I'm cursing all of you in my mind *right now*.
So I read something about just how yandere Tharja is in this game, and...wow...she's uh...something....
That's actually translated from the Background site. So, it isn't exactly canon, since only Chrom can recruit her and there is no dialog in-game between Tharja and MU in that chapter. But, yes, she is very much a Yandere. She refrences her love for you in her other romantic supports.
Not new, but pretty familiar for anyone that's played a Fire Emblem game: "Seriously, that level was balls hard."
Sorry if I was confusing people, I meant that that scene in the vid isn't canon. Yandere Tharja is. I also have a question; Has anyone tried making a list of people they want to marry when they get this game? I have.
