Yeah, I'm not seeing any auto completion thing (even when I turned the RTE back on). And I can use the arrow keys. And I'm using IE10 on Win8
I'm having a problem with embedding youtube links. Whenever I try I get this message. I used to get around this by clicking the "long link" checkbox under the "share" option on youtube, but with the new layout the checkbox no longer appears.
Solution: don't use the rich text editor. The BBCode for embedding Youtube videos is: Code (text): [media=youtube]CODE[/media] So http://youtu.be/pBbTIGNnwjU would become [media=youtube]pBbTIGNnwjU[/media] would become: Alternatively, instead of clicking the share link, you can just copy the URL from your browser bar.
I got this all the time - turned out it was because all my YouTube URLs was https - remove the 's' and everything worked.
Swapping around The League of Extraordinary Game Players and The Bridge Over The River Kawaii might work better (between Games and We Play Games). Forum games are held in the former, whereas discussion happens in the latter.
One thing about the League of Extraordinary Game Players. Is that really the best place for forum games? I know that the most recent mafia game had trouble recruiting players because that subforum doesn't really see a lot of traffic, especially from players who might be interested in something like that. I'm thinking about starting up a forum game(/roleplay?) at some point in the future - would it be all right if I posted the recruitment/OOC chat thread in January or the Let's Play subforum, but with the IC thread proper in the League?
When Lum made the forum and moved the Dominion game, there was some resentment, but he said that he had absolutely no problems with people making recruitment threads in the game forum (or whatever is the most suitable for whatever game you're starting).
This is also why I suggest moving the League of Extraordinary Game Players into the We Play Games section. Sticking it in the midst of game discussion subforums means they'll likely get passed over by users who want to participate in an actual game.
Lum, have you given any thought to making the Drama Llama section of the forum invisible to non-members? There doesn't appear to be an upside to having drive-by readers able to read all our meta-discussion, especially our apparent obsession with a guy who runs another forum that many of us used to frequent.
The upside for leaving things the way they are is that drive-by readers will see the healthy discussions taking place here in the DL sub-forum and it will inspire them to sign up and join our community.
I think any time there is a singular post which completely and utterly sends a thread off the deep end, the forum should support flagging it so that as subsequent readers scroll to it, the Rolling Stones "Gimme Shelter" begins playing in their browser.
I assume it's a known issue that ignored members still show up on Tapatalk? I suppose there's nothing to be done about it from our end anyway.
Yeah, the ignore functionality works via script within the front end. Tapatalk would need to make a change to pick up the ignore lists.
Hey Lum - is there any chance you could update BF's media embedder to work with the shortened YouTube URLs? See this post in the music thread for details. Basically, YouTube doesn't let us copy Long Links out of video pages any longer, but the BF embedder doesn't work with shortened URLs, so it requires some manual editing to modify the URLs and make them work with the embedder.
I know you've asked before, but I really don't see the point. Stop saying stuff on the internet, you don't want strangers to read would be my advice.
Yeah it does. Copy out of the address bar. What it doesn't do is provide you a clean link in the share thingie, but that doesn't mean you can't just use the URL you're at.
The URLs are often cluttered up with other parameters having to do with playlists, favorites, player embed code and the like. I actually mentioned that in the post in the music thread that I linked above.
That was originally Code (text): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xP1-oquwoL8&list=PLA92755588FB0A38D&index=5 and it embedded fine. I think Elyscape's right with this one.
Yeah, the code it turns into is: Code (text): [media=youtube]xP1-oquwoL8[/media] With the video code being the contents of the tag.
Would it be possible to disable the "preview" popup when one hovers over the thread name in a thread list? It's driving me nuts and it's completely useless.
Me too. I always check the preview before clicking on an unfamiliar thread. Sometimes it saves me a click.
I never use preview here because it's been broken for the Minecraft theme all year. No idea if this would be a quick fix or what, but the basic problem seems to be that the preview needs a background fill color or something. This is a preview of "Spam Threads":
