So noone is playing this? I've put a couple of hours in it and apart from the absolutely atrocious (forced) localization it's really fun! It's open world this time and it's pretty obvious that they have set their sights on Need for Speed. And my initial impressions are that they are crushing them.

I have set up a car club for us if anyone wants to join. Search for Broken Forum or (BrFo) for short.

And seriously Microsoft, what's up with the forced localisation? Very, very few games are localized into Norwegian and those who are always enforce the localization without the possibility of turning it off. The voice "acting" in Horizon is so bad in my Norwegian that I want to turn off the sound. Ubisoft does the same with the ingame texts and menus in their games and i absolutely hate it.

There's a few of us playing. I've only had time for an hour or two but it's growing on me. The "dudebro" element is toned down from the likes of Dirt and it's got a great Burnout Paradise/Midnight Club LA vibe to it that's pretty enjoyable.

I've played it far more than I should care to admit and as a result I've already beaten all the races, taken everyone's cares, defeated that punk Darius Flynt, and driven every road. Now to plow into multiplayer and buy every car I want since I have well in excess of 12 million credits.

Favorite cars everyone? I played most of the game in the Nissan GT-R, Subaru Impreza, Ferrari F40, and the Audi Sport Quattro.

Was a little disappointed that there wasn't a bit more variety with the races and that everything ramped up to A-class and above races fairly quickly. There are a variety of lower class vehicles in the game that just aren't played with. Neither do the races explore all of the map that well, such that near the end a lot of races take place over the same track over and over. Especially near the end it seemed as though the game was losing some of the attraction it started out with thanks to those great two introductory races.

I see you've improved since the last time we raced each other, Union Carbide!

I want this game so bad, but I have no money, so it's going to have to wait until Christmas.

Which is a shame, because Burnout with real cars is exactly the game I wanted for my son back when I did that driving games poll so long ago.

I'm currently driving around in an A-class BMW M3 and enjoying it immensely. Lots of fun cars to be driven for sure!

The "find all of the discount signs" and "drive all of the roads" minigames (that possibly exist only in my head) and evil and insidious, as they tap into the exact same part of my brain that had me complete the same challenges in Burnout Paradise.

In multiplayer the standard rule it seems is that those who crash the leastest win the mostest.

That's pretty much every racing game ever, particularly those with tighter courses than normal racetracks at least.

Neons are one thing but this is, frankly, taking it TOO FAR.

Either the suspension in my Trueno was amazingly stiff yet somehow driveable, or these guys have got a LOT of work to do before the rally DLC is released. The ditches alongside the Steel Mill circuit should have been useable but seemed to be completely cosmetic.
  13. I think the Rally DLC is going to have a bunch of specifically tuned cars, particularly seeing as how you can't tune your setups in Horizon.

BTW this is my only real complaint with the game so far. Whoever tuned the FWD setups makes them all understeer like crazy, particularly once you start adding power.

Got my achievement for driving along all the roads in the game yesterday. First time I have bothered, but in Horizon it was a pleasure.

BTW, if anyone would be so kind as to go into the ingame store and buy my atrociously ugly decal named "BF" I would be very happy. Yes, I'm an achievement whore. Let me know if you have made any and I'll buy them right back.
  15. The Rally expansion goes up this week, finally. 1600 spacebux gets you 20+ new point-to-point rally stages, 5 historic rally cars, co-driver pace notes, new rally-specific car upgrades that can be applied to the other cars in the game, and an update to the gravel physics engine. If you're a season pass holder, you get the expansion for free.

    The cars are:
    • '92 Celica
    • 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII MR
    • 2005 Subaru Impreza WRX STi
    • 1992 Ford Escort RS Cosworth
    • 1982 Lancia 037 Stradale
If you're a season pass holder, you also get a 2003 Ford Focus SVT

Started this last night. So far so good, but kinda wanted a bit more arcadey racer. Anyway, is there any value in joining the car club now? I suppose it would be neat to beat rivals that I kinda sorta know instead of some random live guy.
  17. I keep meaning to fire this up again. I've been distracted by a retarded shipping schedule at work and playing golf, though.

There's only a few of us in the club (from memory) but join in anyway. The challenges component of the game is pretty poorly executed and one of the weakest parts of the game (I'm not going to redo a 5 lap R3 race for a piss-poor 500 credits), but if you're up for some of the multiplayer challenges let me know (GT is "Kryten NZ"). I've got a few I'd like to knock out but you'll have to put up with a crazy time zone difference (GMT+13 for me), unless I organise some downtime during the day.
