I think what happened is that somebody replied and then deleted their post, thus fucking us all over.

I have a collection of DVDs that are taking up a lot of space and which are readily available on Netflix, but probably for that reason they aren't worth shit when trying to sell. I can't just throw them out...

Donate? Goodwill usually has racks upon racks of that sort of stuff.

Your local library probably loans out DVDs. Plenty of places they could find a good home.

It's an expensive hive, on the plus side though easy to move from crop to crop.

Have they really made the truck their new hive? I guess so, given they've been there for two months, but... WTF, bees? I understood they'd occasionally swarm in odd places, but not-abandoned truck seems like a strange place to settle in for the long-term.

wheel arches aren't that uncommon a place for swarms to settle. Under the bonnet might well do as well. It's hard to tell from the photo, it looks like its probably a joke post to be honest, they're not clustered and if they were an established colony you'd just see them coming and going from wherever they'd eventually settled. It looks like a swarm just starting to settle in the photo, on both sides they're starting to congregate around the mirrors where they can form a cluster and they'll eventually unite wherever the queen is while the scouts go find a new home.

We had bees decide that our wall was an awesome place back when I was a kid. Dad sealed up the hole, and then many years later when that wall was torn down, it was amazing seeing the number of dead bees stacked in the wall.

I've a question for you, Nellie. Couldn't the guy just hose them off?

When I've had wasp nests (I know, not bees!) around the house I've always been able to hose them off. They either never realize that it's me doing it (maybe it seems like rain?) or they just can't fly through the spray. Are bees different? Am I just lucky the nests were small?

Based on that photo, he could wait a day (or just call a beekeeper) and they'll leave of their own accord.

I have to admit that I don't know a huge amount about wasps, I know they're social and will communicate to a degree where food is, for example but its a very different organisation to honey bees. Their nests though are essentially paper mâché so a good soaking will render it useless. Joshv perhaps outlines the best way to deal with an established colony of bees that is being a nuisance, seal the entrance(s). I'll pick up a swarm, but I won't tear a wall down to try and get them out.

From a honeybee point of view, and again stressing the point that the photo is not typical of [2 month established] honeybee behaviour, I suppose you could hose them, but it won't disperse them unless you happen to kill the queen. Even then you might just get a mass of sodden bees congregating on her corpse.

You need to find the combs, if you can get those, you'll get the queen. You'll have a few days of stragglers looking for home, but remove the nest and they're gone.
