I guess you thought Tina Fey, Amy Peohler, and Michael J. Fox are pricks too when they joked at the Golden Globes about not letting Fox's son date Taylor Swift because she'll just write a song about him too. Get off your PC high horse.
...and what SpoofyChop wrote.
You think the image offended me? I couldn't care less about Taylor Swift's sex life. The reason it isn't funny is because it is inane Facebook drivel.
It was a different time...
For all I know, Germans could still use that word.
In any case, the Sun seems pleased to see little Hans und Liese!
There is currently a public debate about the removal of this specific word from Pippi Longstocking. It has been removed by the German publisher; the outcry is about changing what some consider untouchable. The word itself is considered outright racist and unacceptable by most people, but still some think it is fine in "traditional" (read: from their youth) children's books. But it seems the majority of people are mystified by the fact that this hasn't been done ages ago, this is at least my impression.
Edit: Perhaps I should add that there are also people who can't understand why use of this word would be considered racist. But then again there are idiots and assholes everywhere.
There are edited versions of Tom Sawyer/Huck Finn available now, too. I say just put out both versions and let people decide which ones they want to buy.
In Germany ? You have got to be kidding ! That would go against our basic human rights to quarrel and complain !
I prefer the Robot edition.
This kind of censorship is everywhere these days.
I think this is a bit different. As the article points out, we're supposed to laugh at the Major, not sympathize with him.
Whatever you do, don't mention the war.
Goes well with your avatar.
Oh question 3, how many giggles have you caused over the years?
One of my cats recites This Is My Chair on a thrice-daily basis.
As a native Californian, I would be mildly offended by this if it were not completely accurate.
No way -- you can only get weed in a small segment of NW California?!
You misunderstand. That small segment of northwest California is one big weed plantation.
Great ! But shouldn't it be 'hello world' ?
You mean all the books I read misled me ? Inconceivable.
Ah. That explains it.
Is this referencing a TV show or movie? Or are we just giggling at the hair cuts and fake names?
Mark it zero Talorc! Mark it zero!
Most of the people on that picture are from the movie The Big Lebowski. If you ask whether it's a reference to some other tv show/movie yearbook idea - I have no clue.
Evidently there is a move I have not watched, that I now need to watch :-)
Talorc, you're out of your element.
say what you want about the tenants of Talorc, dude, at least he's got an ethos.
Separate names with a comma.
