Any reason not to drop Vick for Carson Palmer?
  2. Shmtur Level 90 Paladin

Vick is quite possibly done for the year. I'd move on to the best available player. If that's Palmer, then it's Palmer!
  3. Who to start this week - Schaub vs JAC, RGIII vs PHI or Flacco vs PIT?

Schaub scored 4 points in a win over CHI last week (in a driving rain storm, but still).
RGIII has fallen to earth his last two efforts and his team seems to be giving up on its coach, but he is coming off a bye.
Flacco has been mediocre this year but had a monster game last week but will be playing against the best DEF of the three of them.

    Choose!

    Nope.
  4. So Yahoo was down last Sunday - here is the text of a grovelling email I just received:

tl:dr version - "They're Gonna Take My Thumbs!"

In all seriousness, Yahoo fucked up big, Sunday is basically the only day that I care whether yahoo fantasy is operational. I don't know the reliability history of the other websites that offer free automated fantasy football league management, but if I had been waiting until Sunday to make some game time roster decisions and lost because I couldn't access the website, I wouldn't have been super rattled but I would have considered using a different site next year. It was pretty annoying watching the games and having to guess whether I was winning based on what I could see on nfl.com

edit: And I appreciate receiving an email like that as opposed to them just pretending it never happened. I don't feel that entitled: it's not like they make money directly off of me, but I imagine they get a substantial amount of ad-revenue for hosting one of the biggest (if not the biggest) fantasy football systems on the internet.

So if the I lose to DT in the Yahoo league by .38's of a point, I can just blame it on Yahoo!

For PPR, I need two of Eric Decker vs San Diego, Vincent Jackson@Car, and Amendola vs NYJ. I'm leaning towards Amendola and Jackson, but I could maybe be convinced to bench someone else. I might be overreacting to last week when Decker got 3 points. .
  8. Thongsy Hivemind Coordinator

I like Amendola for PPR. Really can't go wrong either way. San Diego is looking like a mess once again so Decker could end up with a big game.

So, with Roethlisberger out, and my backup QB (Philip Rivers!) traded away, do I stick with my plan of starting Nick Foles in his absence, do I grab Byron Leftwich (who ever thought they'd be considering starting him in a fantasy league in 2012?), or do I trust in the apparent resurgence of Sam Bradford?
  10. Bill Dungsroman Magister Mundi Elyscape

    Bradford all the way IMO

That's what my gut's telling me, but I believe in the Foles/Maclin connection.

They looked like they were developing some solid rapport.

You should pick up Jake Locker. He's gonna have a great game this week.

    Nice try, Zarflax!

    Besides, somebody already has Locker.

Since nobody answered your QB question, who did you end up starting? I went with RG3 over Flacco and couldn't have been happier, though I can imagine that Schaub was the best choice of all...

I went with Foles. Not super happy about that. Maybe this week I'll try Blaine Gabbert...
  21. Ha, I started RG3 and was quite happy (40+ points) Schaub scored 50+ but I didn't need that margin, what with Gronkowski scoring 30 points....arrrrgh.

It was a nice comeback game for RG3, but its nice to have Schaub on the bench. I am dropping Flacco for the Oakland TE because arrrrrrgh.

Assmuing this trade goes through, here's my team for the final playoff push (I'll be in the 4th and final spot after today). It looks fairly stacked on paper. It's a 10-man PPR league.
    QB: Dalton, Flacco
RB: Lynch, Chris Johnson, Steven Jackson, Michael Turner, Demarco Murray (injured), Larod Stephens Howlings (almost cut him, but he played really well this week)
WR: Calvin Johnson, Vincent Jackson, Danny Amendola, Anquan Boldin.
    TE: Jimmy Graham
    D: Broncos
    K: Jason Hanson

I put Alex Smith in the IR spot and started Kaepernick aw yiss

You know, I am technically winning my division at 6-5, but it feels like the wind has gone out my team and I am pretty much done. Other than RG3 and A.J. Green, I haven't had consistency at any position on the team.

Here's my starting lineup for this week.

QB - RG3 (I cant put Flacco in here, even after the short week.)
WR - A. J. Green (my best and most consistent player week in and week out)
WR - Mike Wallace (looked like he was coming out of his slump then Ben Roethlisberger got injured) OR Kendall Wright
    WR - Denarius Moore
RB - LeSean McCoy OR Bryce Brown (picked up McCoy's backup after the concussion)
RB - Felix Jones OR Ronnie Hillman (depending on Jones' injury status)
    TE - Vernon Davis
    K - Mason Crosby
    D - Miami (ugh)

That whole lineup goes from bad to worse... Vernon Davis is slumping, half the players are backups or injured.

Any advice on a defense which is widely available and might have a good matchup this week?
  25. Matthew Schempp This Is SEWIOUS

Missed the waiver wire party for the new RBs. Do I start R. Bush, F. Jones or trawl the wire? Best options there are Brown, McCluster, Richardson and Ball.

It's not a huge deal, as I clinched a playoff in this league last week, but I need something to fill that hole, and I have less and less confidence in Bush.

ETA: In my other league I did hit the Wire in time, and got Parmele. Do I start him over Dwyer?
  26. Hanacker Armchair Designer

What other running back did you draft? DeMarco Murray or McGahee or something?
  27. Cosmic Hippo Hivemind Coordinator

FIRST POST BACK ON THE FORUMS! I went traveling and the got out of the Internet posting habit forever due to my work schedule, BUT I have been playing fantasy football for the first time and I'm having a blast! Here's my team as it is right now - I'm in a 14 team league and pretty happy with my talent pool given the league size and that it was my first draft (which I almost missed, showed up straight from a camping trip):

    QB- Aaron Rodgers
    RB- Trent Richardson
    RB- Jonathan Stewart
    WR- Reggie Wayne
    WR- Victor Cruz
    W/R- Brandon Marshall
TE- Dustin Keller (just for this week, worked out well!)
    K- Steve Gostowski
DEF- New England Patriots (worked out this week!)

    Bench:
    WR - Danario Alexander
    WR- Josh Gordon
    RB- Beanie Wells
    RB- Daniel Thomas
    DEF- Green Bay Packers
TE- Heath Miller (benched until Ben gets healthy or Charlie Batch gains magical powers)

I picked up Beanie from waivers and am thinking about trying him out this week, since Stewart is not exactly ideal, and I'm considering putting Danario, who's been on fire, in for Marshall if Jay Cutler doesn't look good. Thoughts? Danario has been great, but it seems silly to sub anyone in for Marshall, Wayne, or Cruz since they're all crazy good and could blow up at any time.

Nobody has traded for crap in my league, since we all need stupid running backs!

Ugh, Amendola is surprisingly out again. In PPR would you go with Anquan Boldin or Grandon Gibson?
  29. Omniscia Keeper of the Elemental Materials

I'd go with Gibson. When Amendola is out, he seems to be the guy to get all the receptions in St. Louis.
  30. Cosmic Hippo Hivemind Coordinator

So Cutler is playing, so Brandon Marshall is solid. Do I dare to try for a continuation of Danario Alexander's hot streak at the cost of benching Victor Cruz, Reggie Wayne, or Marshall? Tough to decide.
  31. Wader Beer

Well, I originally had LeSean McCoy and Doug Martin as my two RB's... However, as part of a multi player trade before week 5, I shipped Martin for Murray. Who promptly injured himself in the first game I had him. And now McCoy is out as well...
  32. Wader Beer

So, to do two posts in a row, its "help me save my season" time...

Due to all the injuries, my formerly first place in the division team has fallen to a tie, and my opponent is more than likely going to own the tie-breaker of most points. However, its a head to head matchup against him this week, and if I can steal this win, I may have a chance.

The short problems are at WR and TE... Mike Wallace has fallen off a cliff, and may have lost his starter job. Options available in FA (with the highest season point totals so far) are Andre Roberts, Jacoby Jones, Brandon Lafell and Kendall Wright. Any recommendations?

At TE, Vernon Davis didn't catch a ball last week, and he's up against the Rams this week, who haven't given up much of anything to TE's all year. FA has nothing at all exciting, with the top producing available players being Marcedes Lewis, Jared Cook, Dallas Clark, or Dwayne Allen. I know, nothing exciting there. Any ideas?

Finally, at RB, I am currently weighing a combination of Philly (McCoy or Brown), Dallas (Murray or Jones), or Jacquizz Rodgers. My instinct is to go with Brown and Rodgers, but I also am using Dallas' defense, so that seems like shooting myself in the foot. Ugh...

My season is over, but I'm still playing for pride.
  34. Hanacker Armchair Designer

It's pretty much a crapshoot no matter what defense you take, but I really need to win this week. I'm looking at Den vs TB, Ari @ NYJ, NYJ vs Ari, Cle @ Oak, Car @ KC, and NE @ Mia. I really like Cleveland for some reason, but I also like New England and maybe Denver.

Also, if Amendola is still hurt, for my flex spot I have Dwayne Bowe, Steven Jackson, Anquan Boldin, Michael Turner, or whatever is available on the waiver wire. It's PPR. Any opinion there? And I think I have to start Marshawn Lynch @ Chi despite his performance last week, right?
  35. Matthew Schempp This Is SEWIOUS

Someone has Dallas already? I actually like Carolina in that group, but I overemphasize match-ups.
  36. Hanacker Armchair Designer

Cowboys are available. I guess I hadn't accepted how bad Philly really is. That looks like a decent choice.
  37. Bill Dungsroman Magister Mundi Elyscape

    Dude, get Denver.
  38. Yeah, my Monster Truck has turned into a Tire Fire with the Gronkowski injury (three days after my league's trade deadline, thanks) McCoy's ouchy head and Harvin's foot. I'm thinking I'll make the playoffs and maybe I'll get McCoy back, but he's likely to be platooned with Brown, I'll get Harvin at least and should Gronk stage a miracle comeback, I might end up as a spoiler.

This was going to be my year though dammit. RGIII, Doug Martin, Gronk, Lynch, Harvin, Crabtree was coming on (with Alex Smith natch) ane I was solid everywhere else...whaaaaaaaa.

I drafted Maurice Jones-Drew and DeMarco Murray in the Keeper League.

At least that's only ten teams, though, so the free agency pool runs deep.
  40. Hanacker Armchair Designer

I have Denver but don't really want to start them since Tampa has mostly been killing fantasy defenses lately (with the exception of @ Carolina a few weeks ago).
