Harvest Moon is a game about farming and dating

I tried to like ToTT. I really did, but it was so stressful to play! I usually go overboard as it is when it comes to farming so I use every piece of available land to grow my crops. So inevitably, I ran back and forth between konohana and bluebell twice a day so that I could be MAXIMUM farmer. No time for anything, just running back and forth over that mountain. And even after getting the cave fixed it didn't help.

Then the problem with Grand Bazaar is that there is hardly anything to do at all, and me being me, I had to water my crops twice a day. This lead to me spending most of my time just waiting for time to pass so that I could water my crops. Also, you can't sell your animals to my knowledge and I had SO MANY. I have bad memories related to everything after DS Cute ok.

I ... I like farming in games. And I like ~romance~.

If I try one, it's going to be Sjofn crack, isn't it.

I think you'll like this one. It's a big upgrade from the RF games on DS. You can have any characters as followers once they like you enough (two at a time), which lets you both use them as meatshields for dungeoncrawling and take them on dates. You can also date someone before you marry them, and the game allows you to date multiple people at the same time (but you can only marry one). Story content is broken up into "sub events" which may take between a couple of days and a week to complete. There are also tons of random mini-sub events that happen around town. Apparently there's a lot more interaction between the cast than there was in previous RF games. For example, Dylas (horse-man) and Doug (red-headed dwarf) have a sort of friendly rivalry, which you can see during certain sub events and mini-sub events.

My history with HM goes back to when I was around 9 or 10, a classmate was playing the first one for her GBC, and curious I asked her what game it was.
It was also around that time that I discovered emulation, and I played the SNES one, and the HM series has had it's hold of me ever since.
My very first HM wife was Nina, not because she was pink, but because she was the flower girl.

I must say that I loved that you could have two children in AP, who actually looked like your spouse.
And went past toddler-state.

I've also played all of the RF games, and I think I like Frontier the most of them,because it gives me cozy feels.

Anyone got suggestions for Harvest Moon blogs? I've read What the Hell is Harvest Moon, Hell Yeah Harvest Moon and Harvest Moon Confessions, but I'd like to hear about any ask blogs.

Ask Jamie is a favorite of mine! I just found it because the person who runs this blog also makes neat videos on Youtube.

It has a few story arcs with the Ask Vaugh blog and the Connie one that I can't seem to find anymore, so I recommend reading it in chronological order~

I thought I was going to be able to not want yam seeds. I thought I was going to be able to make it.
But now I really want yam seeds. I also really want the mine to be more productive what the hell is this. I hardly have enough time in the day to do all of my chores and have dropped off of the face of the farming earth, deciding to ranch instead. I have a dog and a cat, but I figure until they get hearts, they are expensive furniture. So I have to hand-push all of those animals in and out every single day because FALL IS THE RAINY SEASON AHUHUHUH.

I keep my animals inside since I have a ton of cash and an unlimited supply of fodder~ I wish I had hoarded the honey combs in the spring. I have only one beehive and it takes SO long for them to produce honey. If only if only...*gross sobbing*

I actually lucked out and got yam seeds from the first crop festival. But I grew bored with the game as soon as I had gotten married since I had long finished restoring the town by that time.

I heard that ANB has a lot of typos. True/false? Did you notice them? Were they distracting?

True. They're a little annoying, but they shouldn't ruin the game for you. hopefully.

I usually keep playing until I have my perfect crops and then start a second file to play in an even more perfect manner~ I know I'm obsessed.

*sigh* That's too bad. Stuff like that annoys the hell out of me.

Every Harvest Moon game has a lot of typos though. It doesn't have any more than what's standard for the series.

I first played FoMT and married Popuri, then MFoMT and married Cliff, the latter of which has been the furthest I've gotten in a HM game. I was going down the winter mine to make it all miiiine...

Then my sister accidentally saved over my file because we shared a cartridge.

CRUSHED.

Later, I got a couple years into SI and got distracted, then never went back because I had to keep a notebook specifically to track sun and water points and whatnot and I didn't remember what my notes meant.

Got into 2nd gen in RF2 and lost interest.

Got a couple seasons into GB and lost interest.

Really enjoyed RF3, but got distracted a year or so in and put it down for a while, then contracted 'I want to plaaaay but wait I forgot what I was going to do and it's a festival and I have gifts in my bag but no idea who that past me wanted to give them to AHHHH'-itis.

Got a couple seasons into ToTT and got tired of not being able to save except before sleeping and every single day would take an hour to play through because I HAD to talk to everyone and give some of them (read: Cam) gifts and HAD to forage everything and water my crops in Konohana twice despite living in Bluebell and fish until the wee hours of morning and race home with my horse to dump everything into the box and get into bed at 4:58AM. Then when Cam sells flowers that are profitable to turn into bouquets or perfume I'd huddle over my DS turning bunches of flowers one by one into profit muttering 'just ten more sets... just five more sets... three more... three more...' to myself. I might have a problem.

I really really really want to play RF4, it looks amazing. I hope they translate it. Region locks should perish in a hellfire conflagration. ;-;

So yeah. Getting a 3DS soon (for Ace Attorney vs Professor Layton kyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, normal Layton, Zero Escape, and hopefully RF4 in future), not sure whether to pick up ANB though... I haven't really looked into it since I didn't like what I saw of the aesthetics when it was revealed, then didn't really bother after that. Maybe I should reconsider..?

Are you me? Because that is exactly what I do whenever I play ToTT. I married Cam, and I broke myself trying to make all of the money I needed for the child bed in one season, and once I finally got that upgrade I stopped playing. Hahaha...

You should get AnB. You can save whenever you want, which was my biggest gripe with ToTT because I have a tendency to fall asleep when I get really stressed. Foraging doesn't take forever, but I guess I have become obsessed with using the fish traps, minor problem really. And as long as you hoard every single item you can possibly get your hands on, it shouldn't be a problem to unlock all of the characters.

I should hug you just because you mentioned Ace Attorney vs. Layton(Oh my goodness I hope capcom brings it over soon because I'm just asdghsda) and Zero Escape, which I have and it's beautiful and you need it in your life.

I feel kind of bad that I haven't played many Harvest Moon games :x
I own AWL and ToTT and BtN, but besides from that I haven't played any others. (I remember renting this one game when I was younger that had the gist of HM game, but I have no clue whether it was on or not.)

I'm currently replaying AWL since I lost interest in ToTT.
