    CRUSH IT

I know, that phrase is really douchey, but it was practically invented for the scenario you're in. so yeah. crush it.

Today I went to the gym and had a small workout, nothing too strenuous. I did not have a seizure. I'll call that progress.

Aside from the obvious pressure, that is AWESOME! Good luck, I know you can do it!

I just ordered two season tickets for the Playhouse Theater in Cleveland's Broadway series! Details:

    http://www.playhousesquare.org/broadway/

So my girlfriend and I will get to enjoy all those shows! We are doing it as a matinee on Saturday afternoons because the tickets are cheaper. But we can get dinner after and all that. In any case, I'm super excited! The only one I don't really care that much about is Sister Act, but we can sub out one performance (one time) for another series. We plan to sub SA for Les Miserables, which is playing in another theater in the square. So that's 6 plays! The tickets were like 280 each, but that's not bad for 6 plays in a broadway series at a great theater (and it is a really nice theater). Plus, our seats are right in the middle of the theater, on the floor (orchestra, rather than mez or balcony). I'm excited!!!

And apparently, being psyched up to see some plays makes me the best boyfriend ever or something too.

Since when did Queen rip off Vanilla Ice's riff? All they did was remove an extra note, as if nobody would notice.

Finally heard back from the insurance company about the damage to my storage unit. They say I'm not covered because it was flooding that caused the damage and I didn't have a flooding policy. First, no such option was ever offered. Second, the hurricane caused the flooding, so it should be covered under "Hurricane." Third, FUCK INSURANCE COMPANIES.
DocLazy, Griot, SwitchKnitter and 8 others like this.
  15. RSharp Armchair Designer

Most policies don't cover flooding, unless you are on a flood plain, and then they charge you for it. That's pretty standard. However, you would think that hurricane flooding would be different somehow. I guess it's not, though.... I can see their point on this, but it still sucks! Maybe FEMA could help you?
  16. Alligator Despondent Fancygator

FEMA does not cover storage units, only the primary residence.

It's required on a lot of rental insurance here to have flood coverage if the rental unit is within X distance of the Missouri River, since it tended to flood a lot back in the day. My old place was 3/4 mile from the river, but situated on the highest point of ground for fifty miles in any direction, and I had a sixth-floor apartment. If my place flooded, all of Iowa would be underwater.

I hiked almost 10 miles today (9.69 miles to be exact) which was pretty cool. I'm tired. The other cool thing was I saw a bear for the first time. Thankfully, it was a running away kind of bear, as opposed to mauling me for the Clif bars in my backpack kind of bear.

I cracked a safe today! Not for the first time, but a) the first time in about 15 years, and b) first time doing it by hand instead of with tools or explosives.

We've got an old Diebold safe in our storage room, dating back to like 1943 or so. Normally it's where we keep ostensibly "valuable" supplies, but they always keep a large slab of wood in the bottom so the door can't close all the way. Except someone took the piece of wood out to prop the supply room door open, and the safe slammed shut. One of the advantages to old all-steel safes is that the mechanisms are LOUD and you can pretty much hear the detent bar slip into the notches. It's 100-number tumbler, but it's also HUGE, so it only took about ten minutes.

I slept pretty much all yesterday. So today I woke up at 3:20am, alert and ready to start the day. Yikes. That was unplanned.

So far I've had a beer (shut up), then 32oz of tea (and am working on my third 16ozcup) so I am CAFFEINATED, have successfully unpacked a couple of boxes, reorganized my tea setup, had a leisurely breakfast with my MIL,and am now about to start organizing the upstairs mini-kitchen.

Expect me to crash about 2pm. Heh.

Fucking fuck Verizon, you people are tarded. So a few months ago I argued with a Verizon tech about whether or not a new router would help with my shitty wireless connection. Obviously my opinion was yes, and his was no. They refused to ship me a new one until I kicked up a storm, and then they took forever to ship it. Now it's here and guess what, my wireless doesn't suck balls anymore. WHODATHUNK IT WAS THE HARDWARE.

This is officially the coldest house I have ever been in. And I have awful circulation as it is and I have to be heat powered like a lizard, so I'm essentially say here freezing my balls off trying to summon the energy to go do something about it.

Problem is now, I guess, that I'm back at my parents' place tomorrow and I doubt I'll be much warmer. I put my ancestors to shame.
