Has anything of interest happened to you recently?

I was just told that my friend, her husband, and their daughter narrowly missed being in a fatal car accident by chance. Had they decided to travel yesterday, they would have been in the car with her husband's uncle right about now. Three hours ago, the uncle swerved off of the road, crashed into a tree and passed away.
Obviously, her husband is taking it very hard. I'm just glad that they're all safe.

On a non-related and lighter note, her daughter just took her first unsupported steps today. 14 steps before flopping over. I love how my friend tells me everything that happens with her baby, considering that she knows about past things. C:
She is kind of the best. Kind of. We've been friends since the...third or fourth grade, hahaha.

My wife has taken it upon herself to learn all the lyrics and choreography from Glee's version of "Teenage Dream" and sing it to me. At first I thought she was joking, but she is dead serious. I am rather frightened. I've also had the song stuck in my head nonstop for three days.

Had an MRI.
Well, half an MRI. Then I had a cluster attack and had to stop the scan to sit and huff oxygen for a while to abort the attack. Then I had an MRI.
Then I passed out after I got up from the MRI machine, and woke up to a worried nurse about to call for an ambulance.
I'm not feeling like a prime specimen of humanity right now.

Really hoping this is just some vitamin deficiency or something like that that's easily fixed.

Oh god. Straight off the bat, sympathy like.

The gaming laptop I inherited from my friend and fixed with some solder on the DC-input jack has finally shorted out after much finagling of the power plug during its freakout moments.

I'm attempting to fix the short by dremeling to cut off the short, but circuit boards are very weird in that you sometimes expose more metal, so I keep getting a short some how. Fucking terrible design by Asus.

Nasty pain in my ribs and chest area. Have concluded that I'm probably just hitting puberty again.

Two kids ran out of my (different) lessons to throw up today. Starting to think I'm doing something wrong...

My mom is on her way to the hospital. They're not sure what's wrong, but suspect gallbladder and have advised her she'll likely be having surgery later.

Made Osso Buco in my römertopf and totally burned it to a cinder. The unburned bits in he middle were fabulous, though...

Played a casual game of softball on Sunday, and on my first fielding play, managed to stop a grounder at third base while sliding on one knee. In shorts. Played the rest of the game with an awesome bloody streak down my leg that convinced everyone that they didn't really need to slide on close plays. My team ended up losing by 18 runs, and I have a nice strawberry wound as a consolation prize.

Sounds like my streak of kickball slide-related injuries that have left a palm-sized lump of grey scar tissue on my right shin.

Well, it was 2-2 for most of the game, then went 9-9 in the 6th inning, then 11-11 in the 7th, then 22-11 in the 8th, and ended 31-13 at the end of the 9th. I think they powered up or something in the 8th, because that's when pretty much every player on their team jacked a home run.

Okay, that's not so bad. I envisioned 1 inning of awesome home runs, and 8 innings of playing catch-up.

I saw Evita this weekend on Broadway. Holy shit was it good. I also watched the movie. Also good, but not quite as impressive as having Elena Rodgers yowling like a badass in front of you. On the plus side the movie had 100% less Ricky Martin showboating. Anyway, I can't stop listening to Rainbow Tour and A New Argentina.

Neil Young and Crazy Horse are playing the Kitchener Auditorium tonight, and I've been trolling all the friends I know who are going today by saying I saw a recent setlist and it's mostly just stuff from Re-Ac-Tor and Trans.

Gallbladder attacks suck but the surgery is routine and (at least for me) there were no after-effects at all. Some people apparently have some digestive problems due to a lack of gall, but apparently my liver just pumps out enough gall to do the job without the gallbladder as a reservoir.

Well they sent my mom home. They couldn't figure out what was wrong. Gallbladder, kidneys, spleen all checked out, so she's on a liquid diet the next couple of days to see if it happens again. On the one hand, yay no surgery! On the other hand, what the fuck are they missing?

Now that I am able to sit up and not hate myself (wtf I get sick and Sjofn gets 1000 likes? not fair) I can advise, related to this, that omeprazole is the most wonderful thing ever invented, and you can totally get it over the counter. Check with your doctor maybe first just in case there are interactions that I don't know about with other stuff you might be on or whatever, but since I've been on it all acid-related issues have vanished and life is like 10x better. I used to have to chow down 2-4 Tums a night.
