I am a huuuuge Homestuck fan, you guys. And we do have a thread for talking about it, but it was never very well trafficked, and I suspect there's a good deal of you out there who read this most dementedly epic of not-exactly-a-webcomics.

And I need people to talk about it with! Need. And the official forums are kind of too full of insane.

So!

I'll assume this thread will in geneal be up to the minute on latest updates, so SPOILER MODE IS ON BEYOND THIS POINT. If you're not caught up yet, do!

So seriously guys what is up with this latest lot of updates. I am confused.

Roxy appears to be doing a sort of MSTing/remix of some bad ersatz-Harry-Potter fanfic? WIth characters in the story who are playing the roles of themselves in the original story, except maybe they are also real people and the fanfic is based on the real people they kind of are? Except it's all also fictional and oh look I have gone cross-eyed.

This is one of those meta-fictional foreshadowing peaks like he used in the first wizard book and all of SBaHJ. Pretty much he's giving us coded information that will be 'oh jeez, some of that is brilliant' later on and great fantheory fuel (which, let's face it, is one of the big draws of this phenomenon). Also, voidcracking is now a pressing issue.

Yeah it struck me as either more meta-textual ominous foreshadowing or making fun of meta-textual ominous foreshadowing, particularly the part about the anagram that wasn't. I'm assuming Roxy is dreaming right now after gcat appearifying in front of the batterwitch and presumably being carted to a special prison some place and we are being reminded that reality being broken keeps on happening.

In a more general sense the plot appears to be building towards two near term things:

• the, at last, uniting of the many tribes of squabbling, hormone imbalanced, for want of a better word; heroes in the one universe. THERE WILL BE TENSIONS BUT ULTIMATELY HEROISM.
• the seeming rise to power of the stories main villain (OR IS HE?!) from mentally challenged cherub to giant green monster of time.

There are about fifty subplots too. From the other sub-villians schemes and roles (What is the batterwitch really up to? What about the many & various stabby Jacks? Clowns?) to the personal quests of various heroes (Rebuilding trollverse, finding the ultimate weapon or whatever, waking up Calliope again, mega GHOST BRAWL APOCOLYPSE, can we still get some more god tiers up in this bitch?).

I'm not a fan of the new sprites. There, I said it. They don't seem to add anything at all. They are like not-so-good bootleg mash-up remixes... it's not as much fun as it should be anyway.

Also, I looked up "Uroboros", and it's evidently a thing that is not only a thing in Resident Evil. Well, another thing learned today! (Did I ever tell you about that night I spent encoding morse code...... these things Homestuck has you do....)

Edit: And to have you know: "Uroboros" is an album by Dir En Grey. Probably something else to, but who reads past the first 3 google suggestions...

I though "uroboros" was just another spelling for oroboros.

I don't know what I'm trying to say with this but there you go.

Yes, there are multiple spellings - it orignally seems to refer to the symbol of a snake biting its own tail, with early depictions dating back to the book of the underworld of ancient Egyptian civilizations. It's a very apt symbol in conjunction with the cherubs - it originally was two snakes biting each other's tails as a symbol of unification for the sun god Ra and the underworld/death god Osiris. So, I'll have a wild guess here, and say that Calliope's password might be UrobUros? :D

Reading up on it, it's also a strong symbol for beginning and end of time. Wow, I like how this whole ancient Egyptian element plays into this, I didn't realize. Also, the depiction of Osiris on wikipedia is green!?!? Scary.

Man, I was still hoping, for some reason, that LE were someone else entirely.

Jake's lack of god tier trousers becomes the real focus of another update.

Oh, also I guess the two groups of human kids have finally come together. Even if it is just an advance party of Jade right now.

If Jade is there, that means theoretically everyone else can be in a jiffy, too

Also: Jake and Jane have been saved, but Dirk and Roxy are still staring down the Batterwitch

If Jade's there it means that at the very least, John is there too.

Dave and Rose's group should be arriving shortly to save the derse beta kids' asses.

Amidst a whole slurry of excitement, Doj Con happened on Saturday. To put it simply, there were a lot of Homestuck fans and I feel the need to revive this thread with friendship stairs.

...and no more Homestuck for months.

I'm not too concerned, because I'm going to be busy with the production of Featherbent for pretty much the entire time. It's an AU that somehow grew from a simple illustrated fic about johnkat into a full visual novel series about government conspiracies (and johnkat), and I've been roped into the coding team.

Basically, we're going to exploit the Homestuck hiatus as much as we possibly can.

Oh hey, theres a Homestuck thread here! And I discovered it just in time for a month long hiatus :'D at least the game will start being developed. Anyone else here contributed to the kickstarter? no?

I wanted to, but I took so long making up my mind that when I finally decided to back it up, the kickstarter had ended already. :C

I contributed, of course.

The Homestuck game of my dreams would be a Herculean task of bigger-than-Scribblenuats levels of combinatorial complexity, though.

I really have no idea how this game will turn out to be, but I trust that Andrew's work will surpass even my most wild fantasies.

I'm super excited as to what it will be like! Im wondering if it will be some sort of build your own session, but that would probably have to be some sort of multiplayer. But it will probably be an rpg, right? i really have no idea what to expect x)

It's going to be an adventure game. Whether it's going to have RPG elements or not, I'm not sure. Probably not, tho.

I backed for GAMEPAK2, because I'm a sucker for signed things and/or physical copies of games. I got Pisces and Virgo as my officially assigned OTP, which I then swapped with my friend to get John and Cancer. I am a terrible terrible person.

I dreamed last night that there was this big battle between the trolls and some random evil force people and Gamzee was basically the only one left still able to fight. I was in the big ass arena, but in the corner. Some other troll chick (idk feferi? i'm going by images to match names to dream-faces) came over and was like "YOU GOTTA GO OVER THERE. THE ONLY WAY HE'LL LIVE IS IF YOU'RE OVER THERE WHEN HE DIES."
Because apparently, in this dream, trolls reproduce carbon copies of themselves in their current appearance just by being in close proximity to someone else when dying.

I went over, Gamzee died, Gamzee2 was born, everyone was happy, and I think I ended up marrying Gamzee2.

guys i don't even homestuck how did this happen.

I'm at the beginning of Act 3 and I have no idea what's going on.

IIRC, you've already met at least one, although you may not realise it yet. But they show up in force in Act 5.
