After having a fairly svelte backlog for a while I found I put on a few, and will probably get more once the holidays are over. Yakuza 4 -- Loved Yakuza 3 and I really want to play this, but I have 360 inertia. Journey -- bought it to use up some PSN wallet money lying about but haven't touched it. Mass Effect 3 -- couldn't get into it. Will have to try again. DX:HR -- played it on xbox and re-bought for the PC so not strictly a backlog, but I do want to replay it. Civilization V -- my 7 year old PC was chugging on this so I quit it. Will get back to it once I get my new PC Beyond Good & Evil -- Got it on a steam sale and though it was cool, but stalled on it. NFS:Hot Pursuit -- Summer steam sale purchase that was too much for my old PC to run. Will try on a new one. Dark Souls:PTD -- My PC couldn't handle this so I've been playing it on the xbox instead. That said I'll still play a character or two in the PC FTL -- Bought into the hype but Dark Souls and never played it. Torchlight 2 (PC) -- Stalled in Act 2. Mostly it lost time to Dark Souls NFS:Most Wanted -- Just got it (Saturday). Am going to play it soon. Sleeping Dogs -- Just got this on GMG sale, but it too needs the new computer.
I always feel kind of iffy about recommending Journey because my experience with it seemed so perfect. I met three people along the way, and the third one never left my sight and was with me through about 75% of the game. The bond I shared with that person was deeper than any I've ever had in a multiplayer game. I was sad when it ended. If you're going to play it, try to play through in one sitting.
That's the problem with liking RPGs, it feels like I shouldn't start one without being sure I have the time to commit to it, but the longer I keep putting one off, the more there are that start piling up behind it... I still have to finish Xenoblade, Drakensang, Persona 4, and Dragon Age before even thinking about starting Witcher 2, Divinity 2, Fallout NV, Avadon, Reckoning, Risen, Arcanum, Gothic 2, ToEE... That's probably a couple years worth of play just to catch up, completely ignoring any other games.
Steam only. Games in Limbo are ones I've played and have progress in but haven't completed/stopped playing/may pickup again and finish(or not). I have several console backlog games as well. Namely Xenoblade, Dragon's Dogma, Epic Mickey(lol), Journey, and Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword.
Yeah I made them since figuring out what to play kinda got out of control with the amount of stuff coming in from steam sales.
I do something similar, although I only have two categories, "Backlog" and "Played". Do you know if there is a way to rename a category in Steam? Aside from going into every game and changing it?
-A lot of games I didn't buy individually and got them in bundles. -Beat Journey last night. :) Not to my knowledge, no. It's kind of a pain setting each game piecemeal but hey.
All right. Scratched two off my backlog list recently: Dishonored and Orcs Must Die 2. Kinda want to do another playthrough of Dishonored, but probably going to put in Uncharted 3 on the TV and Mark of the Ninja on the PC.
I have been cleaning the odd title here and there off my backlog pile. The most recent item to finally be installed is E.Y.E.: Divine Cybermancy. However, this item quickly went from my "Backlog" Steam Library category to my "Never" category. I move games to the Never category when I have no plans to ever play them again (because I've beaten them, or they just didn't work for me, among other things), and there are now a total of 57 games I've moved there over the years. The game is bonkers. I'd have to put in a lot more time to figure out some of the more Byzantine elements of the game (it's one of those unintuitive and confusing games that don't play out well for folks who just dive right in and ignore the tutorials & instructional material), but the general feel of the game is just off-putting enough that I'm not sure I want to put in the effort, at least not when I still have other solid RPG shooters like Deus Ex 3 and several S.T.A.L.K.E.R. titles still waiting for my attention. I read someone describe somewhere that this game plays out like you're trapped in somebody's fever dream, that seems like an appropriate description.
My backlog is starting to grow again having been largely defeated. Listening to advice on the internet is the WRONG THING for me. I bought a bundle of reportedly stellar indies - Braid etc - and promptly demoted every one of them to sub-backlog material. I still have a number of recommended titles that I just don't want to pick up - Amnesia & Psychonauts come to mind, though Dead Island is also on there. I'm having to push myself into Dishonored too.
I also have a backforest. So much in it that I'm almost too embarrassed to link my backloggery: www.backloggery.com/clairedelune This isn't even a complete list. I've got 10-15 N64 games not on the list here, and none of my free PS+ stuff is on it because it's not very permanent.. If I beat a free ps+ game, I'll add it, but so far I haven't really touched much of anything. I need to get off my ass and get on my ass and game more -_- Edit: oh, and there are a good number of games in the list here that I've sold and haven't removed yet. Maybe 20-30.
In the last week and a half I've finished Uncharted 3, The Walking Dead (played all 5 episodes back to back), Mark of the Ninja, and Orcs Must Die 2 (plus all the DLC). Not bad, not bad if I do say so myself. Having Christmas week off helped.
