So, I managed to get Davian Korran into the game as an early party member that you run into in the bar. Unfortunately, I don't know how to make it so that the event can only occur when he is NOT in your party. He disappears when he's added to your party, but if you walk back into the bar, he reappears and this is all just incredibly frustrating.

That is a whole lot of 'he's for a female, Mul (although I guess based on avatar...). And also a rather frustrating problem.

Yes, despite her male avatar and male-ish name, DK is female.

ONE MOMENT, I KNOW HOW TO FIX THIS. I had that exact same problem and it took me like an hour, let me get the correct terms.

Edit: OKAY. Tell the event to set a Control Self Switch- let's go with A- immediately after Davian joins the party, but before the event terminates. Then hit the 'new event page' at the top of the event page, insert a Conditional Branch, selecting 'Self Switch A is ON'. Hit okay, leave the 'Else' area blank as it'll run normally if that isn't checked, save the event, and voila! Davian should stay gone once recruited.

Don't worry, I know when people are male/female, but unless you want a WHOOOOLE LOTTA FEMALES, I have to go by avatar. If the sex in the avatar is not readily apparent, I go by what the person states in their profile. C:

Fun fact: there are exactly zero tutorials online that directly address how to do that in a manner that makes any sort of sense. I figured it out by trial and error after the only way I could find to set it didn't actually work.

I got it to run! Yay! If you'd rather not use the despondent fancybear sprite, and a mushroom isn't possible then you can base sprite creation on the chibi maker picture I made for that thread and use whatever gender you'd like.

It's okay, I had to add a condition to the second event page (trigger when Davian is in the party). C:

Pft, I'm being silly. Videet's right, a self switch is probably better for this individual case.

Using a global switch would have the same result, BUT could cause problems if you ever removed Davian from the party.

The ideal (and even more complex solution) would be to combine the two- the self switch turning the event off, with the global switch to keep track of whether Davian is in the party or not. That way, you could have Davian leave the party without having the original join party event popping up again, as well as making it so certain events could be different depending on whether Davian is present or not.

And since it only just occurred to me that people might not know what I mean by Global switch... Have a tutorial on them! Switches Tutorial.

I added the fancybear sprites PNG into the game will see if it works later.
