Hahaha I ended up playing Apollo Justice before any of the original Ace Attorney games because I didn't know the series was linear argh and I finally reached

I dunno, but I always thought presents that were made with you in mind were better than presents that you just bought despite the fact that I buy all of my presents for people -_-;;, also it can't be easy to make a sculpture that's also a clock.

Same. That's why I have an unnerving love the cast from that game (even if Klavier is the most ridiculous prosecutor ever to grace my NDS). I actually didn't like Phoenix at first. I felt like he needed too much help. And the fact that you have to wait until the last case to look at things in 3D kinda sucks. I'd have solved the second case all on my own if I could just have had Phoenix

Klavier was one hell of a glimerous fop. Edgey is still my favorite prosecutor though.

What actually bothered me the most was

...also I may be really drunk right now! But that does not change the fact that Franziska is the best! So messed up in such weird and interesting ways, she's probably my favorite, excepting Edgeworth and Maya and Mia and everybody else I love. Which is all of the characters.
I'm not clicking any of these spoiler links because I have not played Apollo Justice yet. Y'all're vile temptresses, just so you know.

Ahaha~ I'm not on the computer at all this weekend because I'm visiting my sister and her family, but borrowing their computer and coming in here to 116 alerts, most from this thread, makes me really happy~ The next post should be out today or tomorrow, depending on if I can get a certain program I can make gifs on to work or not and if I can still remember how to work it.

Ugh, for me that i played the original series and then apollo justice, I didn't like the latter that much...

I agree that in the first game Phoenix is too helpless, but he grows later :°

PHOENIX. MOTHEREFFING. WRIGHT. This is one of my favorite games, seriously. Oh god, watching all the people who don't know what's coming.

Seriously though, with all the dating sims based on fandoms, why the hell has no one done it with the multitude of Ace Attorney characters? I have SUCH an unhealthy crush on Phoenix, for real. I would play the CRAP out of that.

There was this one hilarious porn game called Phoenix Drive, if that counts.

It spawned the phrase "I will beat a rod until...a tank empties!".

Oh god. That's not what I meant at ALL. I've heard of that game, unfortunately. It's one of those 'So bad, you can't help but laugh' scenarios.

Porn really wasn't the dirrection I was suggesting, anyway. xD

That last case was added in when it ws released on DS to use DS features. The original Japanese release of the game was on GBA. And they hadn't thought of that function until DS.

From what I've read, it wasn't intended to have sequels, either. Which is why there's occational continuity confusion between games, if you look too closely. They had to backtrack a lot of details.

Fun facts. I like this series too much. I've probably just poked around this site too much.

The summer that I discovered Apollo Justice was the same summer I obtained an unorthodox amount of fanart from Court Records. It was glorious.

Phoenix: Huh, that’s strange. The chief must have gone home already. She said her sister was coming over so we should all go out for dinner…

Phoenix: What’s that smell…? Blood…? Mia! (Maybe she’s in her office!)


...here we got a look at how the screen will look like for a big part of the game, obviously the two lower parts will be filled out later, I think it was “Present” and “Talk”, or the other way around.

Anyway, trying to examine brings up this screen:


I can move the cursor, double click or press A to examine. Of course, when I try to examine something now Feenie gently remind me of some more pressing matters.

Phoenix: I smell blood… and that can’t be good! I have to check and see if Mia… the Chief’s okay!

So clicking Move brings us here;

…and off we are to the office.


When you said it twice it was serious, but now it’s just sounding stupid.

???: … *sob* Sis…
Oh no…


Phoenix: …! Chief? Chief…?

I was so afraid this would happen... always the mentors... always... I just...

.... her breasts are entirely ruining the impact of that image.

She doesn’t say anything. Her sprite fades away and the screen shakes.

Phoenix: (The strange girl dropped out cold, I left her lying on the office sofa. I went back to the chief where she lay under the window.)


Phoenix: (Her body was still warm...)
Erm, that doesn’t sound wholesome at all.

Phoenix: (I could feel it when I held her shoulder.)

But her body is getting cooler, until finally she’s completely cold.

She’s dead...



Now we’re starting the real gameplay. Even if we’re just lawyers, we can still go to crimescenes and look around, I don’t think that legal, at least not IRL, but who cares in this game.

Either we can go back to the room we came from, called Fey & Co. Law Offices, but we’ll take the chance we got to take a look around, I got a feeling we won’t be alone for long.

This scene is in two parts, and we can freely pan back and forth.


Leaving the phone for now, I go over the the left side and look out the window.

Phoenix: There’s a large building right across from the office. The “Gatewater Hotel”. A nice, luxurious place.

I notice “The Thinker” lying on the floor.
Phoenix: It’s encrusted with dried blood. How ironic that this became the murder weapon… again.

Finally, I look at Mi-… the body.
Phoenix: Chief…
We have to focus, it’s hard to see her like this, but let’s not mess this up.

Phoenix: She was struck on the head with a blunt object. She probably died instantly.
Hopefully.

Phoenix: Hmm… there are some glass shards near the chief’s body. Must be pieces of the glass light stand lyring broken in the back of the room.

Phoenix: Hmm…? A piece of paper! It must have fallen from Mia’s hand!



Phoenix: A word is written in blood on this scrap of paper! "Maya"? Did Mia write this? This piece of paper is a receipt from a department store, dated yesterday.

Phoenix: (I think that’s enough snooping around for now. I’d better call the police… and find out what that girl was doing here.)

Now I finally examine the phone.
Phoenix: …? That’s funny… A few of the screws on the receiver are missing… It looks like someone was halfway through taking it apart.
Huh… better take a note of that; it will most likely come up again later.

???: Police!? Please, come quick!

Phoenix: (Someone screaming from outside the window!?)


Phoenix: She’s staring right at me!

Larry, you give the worst fucking gifts in the history of the world.

(Also, I like both the Phoenix Wright games, and Apollo Justice, and I'm disappointed they never made a sequel fpr AJ. Though I didn't care for Klavier much. *hides*)

Unfortunately, nothing else happens, at least not any staredown. So we move into the other room where we left the girl.


Phoenix: (That girl just now… where’d she go!? Uh oh… I hope she didn’t run on me.)


Phoenix: Yipes! (Don’t scare me like that!)

Phoenix: Umm… Excuse me but, who are you?
That’s good, keeping your good manners even in this dire situation.


”…”

Phoenix: It’s okay. I work here.


”Maya… Maya Fey.”

Phoenix: (“Maya” …? So Mia was writing this girl’s name! Maybe I should show her the receipt? I never though there’d be a use for evidence like this outside the courtroom!)


Here’s the rest of the boxes filled out.

I ask her about what happened.

Phoenix: (She seems to be in shock. I don’t want to disturb her, but I have to know…) Can you tell me what happened?


“I came in… The room was dark. And Sis… Sis…!”

Phoenix: (So she was already dead.)

Then some questions about her relation with Mia.

Phoenix: So, you’re the chief’s…?


”Sister. I’m her younger sister.”

Phoenix: And you were here… visiting? This late at night?


"Yes. She said she wanted me to keep some evidence for her.”
The clock…

We present to her the reciept.


Phoenix: Before Mia died, she wrote a message with her own blood.
WOW, that’s brutal!

Phoenix: She wrote it on the back of this receipt.


“Th-th-that’s MY name!W-why!? Why would she write my name?”


”W-why would Sis write my name?”

Phoenix: (Uh-oh. Now I’ve done it… I’d better hurry up and call the police!)

Oh… I forgot about that. Didn’t the Pink Lady call the police? Anyway, going back to the other room to call them. Which gives the exact same scene as the last time I poked the phone.

I go back to the other room.


*whee-ooo* *whee-ooo*…

Phoenix: The police! (Sounds like they’re coming this way!)

Freeze! Police!




Oh….


”Alright, I’m Detective Dick Gumshoe, see?”


”We received a report from the building across the way, see. Got a person saying they saw a murder.”

Phoenix: (It must have been that woman I saw.)


”Anyway, I don’t want either of you moving one inch, ‘kay?”

Phoenix: (Great. Just great.)


Phoenix: (Maya… Wait, she wouldn’t have… nah.)

For that comment she’ll end up being the main suspect.

He disappears, presumably going into the other room to look at the crime scene.

Gumshoe: Whoaaaaaaaaaaaah!


”Scuze me!”

”Eek!”



”This word “Maya” here mean anything to you?”

”Um… that...”
LIE LIKE A DOG!

”That’s my name…”

”With her dying breath, she wrote down the killer’s name!”

”K-killer…? I’m not - -“

”Case closed! You’re coming down to the precinct, ma’am.”
Do I have a bad humor if this made me laugh way more than I really should? It might be the fever laughing, but still.

”W-what?”

The screen fades to black and Phoenix remince loudly for himself.

Phoenix: Mia’s younger sister, Maya, was arrested on the spot. I was taken in for questioning and didn’t get out until the next morning.

Anyone in that situation wouldn’t have done anything but go straight home. Not Phoenix Wright here, no.

Phoenix: I sat around, waiting for visiting hours to begin at the detention center. I had to talk to Maya as soon as possible.

He can smell a good case coming, and he wants to be in on it.

Maya greets us as enthusiastically as it’s possible in these kinds of circumstances.


”It’s you! The lawyer… G-good morning.”

Phoenix: Good morning
Hawkward.

Phoenix: (She looks so tired…)


”Um… Are you going to be my attorney?"

Phoenix: Well, that’s what I wanted to talk to you about.
She is Mia’s sister, and even though I don’t think it’s really allowed for a lawyer to be take a case for someone they got some sort of bond with, there’s no chance I’ll leave this girl to feel all alone. She just lost her sister.

Of course he’ll be your lawyer!


Phoenix: (First things first, I better get her cheered up…)

Phoenix: Yeah, of course I will! Cheer up!
You’re the worst at cheering anyone up, Feenie. And that means a lot coming from me.


"R-really…?"

Phoenix: (Whoa! Did I say the wrong thing? She looks sadder now!) Um… what… what’s wrong? You don’t think I can do it?


”…”
She totally thinks that!


"No… no one could! Who would believe me?”
We would! We do!


”Even you, when you found me in the office. You looked at me like I had done it!”

Phoenix: (Did I look at her like that?) No, no! I never thought…


”I-it’s okay. I understand.”

She plaster on a smile, changing the subject.

”And… I’ve also heard about you. I… was talking to my sister on the phone the other day…

“Today was my junior partner’s first time in court.”

Maya: Wow! Really? How’d that go?


”It was quite the scene! Honestly, I was on edge the whole time. It’s been a while…”

Maya: Hah! So, he crashed and burned?


”…He’s a genius. One of those ‘strike fear into the hearts of evil’ types…"

”The only thing he’s lacking is… experience.”

Maya: Well, I know who to go to if I ever get into trouble now!»


”I don’t know, Maya. I think you might want to wait… give him three more years.”
